I've recently replaced all of my make up and have made the switch from high end to cheaper brands I used to buy lancome, Clinique, ysl, dior, mac, benefit and urban decay however when everything needed replacing I didn't feel I could justify 400 pounds plus so now switched to a couple of cheaper brands

The best switches I've made are

Elf primer instead of soft box saving 20.00

Make up revolution eyeshadow pallet instead of urban decay naked pallet saving 33.00

I literally can not tell the difference between high end and cheap and cheerful so what are your best dupes/switches?

I mix a bit with my foundation to give me a lift on my particularly grey days

Grin nurse. That's exactly it! Other people manage to highlight their best features but I just look tinmanny.

Charismam · 01/02/2018 20:07

After getting a sample of every No7 make up in warm ivory I have discovered that the lift and luminate is fantastic! The coverage is good/medium and it isn't drying. It's quite creamy going on but it blends in very easily. It didn't feel drying like the no7 matt one that is supposed to be a dupe for the chanel les beige one. Much better coverage than the airbrush one. Less runny than the 'perfect' Really like lift and luminate or whatever it's called. I will DEFINITELY buy another bottle.

Charismam · 01/02/2018 20:09

The lift and luminate got shite reviews Confused

I feel too old for highlighting so I just use a paler foundation in the areas that younger people would highlight. Less build up of product to settle in to the lines! There's a woman with a chanel called hot and flashy (terrible name!) and she did that.

Fintress · 01/02/2018 20:24

I wish I hadn't opened this thread, my list is getting a bit long Grin

Nicpem1982 · 01/02/2018 20:29

Fintress- what's on the list I ended up buying tonnes of stuff

Perfume parlour and practically everything except eyeshadow as I have tons of Dior palettes I squandered a load of cash on.

Going to try pomegranate noir, issey miyake (I wear that as an every day perfume) a Tom Ford one and counting.

As an aside, I have only just realised that if I keep my eyeliner pencils in the fridge they go on so much better. Discovered that on a recent holiday where they were literally melting so chucked them in the room fridge to harden up a bit.

Nurse15 · 01/02/2018 21:58

@BluebellGal everything I ordered was brill! I got Lacoste original - not very strong but the real one isn't either. Bon Bon - lovely. Flowerbomb I ordered for my bestie and had a sneaky sniff - seems legit though I don't use t personally. Ordered 3 lush dupes and they're all amazing - so strong!!

Fosterdog123 · 02/02/2018 07:11

Yey! Another perfume parlour convert! I've probably bought about 30 perfumes from there altogether and only had about 2 duds.

BluebellGal · 02/02/2018 07:41

Thanks Nurse always keen to hear of Perfume Parlour successes

My recent successes have been Tom Ford Santal Blush, Creed Virgin Island Waters

KimchiLaLa · 14/02/2018 20:32

Thanks to whoever recommended collection lash surge - it really is as good as higher end mascaras and I've used a lot of Dior and Lancôme.

ovenchips · 14/02/2018 22:37

I am chuffed with Collection Lash Surge mascara recommendation too. It's great!

QueenOfTheAndals · 17/02/2018 18:56

Anyone tried the benefit Bad Gal Bang mascara? The before and after photos in the reviews make it look amazing.

BluePony · 17/02/2018 19:39

Queen I have Smile

Lucked · 17/02/2018 20:34

Not a dupe but I prefer Maybelline eraser eye concealer to la touché eclat

QueenOfTheAndals · 17/02/2018 21:11

@BluePony And?? I like They're Real - is this one better?

BluePony · 17/02/2018 21:24

Queen I LOVE it Smile

ohbitchplease · 17/02/2018 21:38

@Lucked Me too! It's fucking amazing that stuff.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 17/02/2018 21:55

Ive been using Estée Lauder foundation, which to be fair, doesn't budge and goes a long way, but ££. Dd was keen to try The Ordinary skin care and foundation. I got the serum one and it's pretty damn good. Nice on my old skin and light on her lovely young face. Not budged and not as cakey as doublewear. Only needs a little squirt, it's quite thin, but it goes a long way. Only gripe, there's not a wide palette of shades, so I'm thinking buy two and blend. £5.90.

Lucked · 17/02/2018 22:02

With perfume parlour are the sprays better than the rollerballs? I have a couple of the rollerballs and struggle to smell them despite putting on loads.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 17/02/2018 22:19

I’m going to go look at perfume parlour

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 18/02/2018 08:11

I think they are Lucked. And damn all your eyes for reminding me about pp. I've got plenty, I don't need ny more.

MsHarry · 18/02/2018 10:29

I always use cheap nail polish as who ever uses the whole bottle? Such a waste of money and Barry M and Rimmel are so good. I do like Urban Decay eyeshadow though, the pigment is very good and I use it every day. I have tried most foundations but my fave is a CC cream by Bourjois at £9.99.
I also use Aldi Caviar face cream and mimic eye gel. It's fab, smells great.

MsHarry · 18/02/2018 10:29

mimox

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/02/2018 10:35

I tend to buy the OPI or Essie mini sets when they're at TK Maxx as I think they do last longer than cheap polishes. But I'd never finish an entire full-sized bottle as I get bored easily and like to try new colours!
