I've recently replaced all of my make up and have made the switch from high end to cheaper brands I used to buy lancome, Clinique, ysl, dior, mac, benefit and urban decay however when everything needed replacing I didn't feel I could justify 400 pounds plus so now switched to a couple of cheaper brands

The best switches I've made are

Elf primer instead of soft box saving 20.00

Make up revolution eyeshadow pallet instead of urban decay naked pallet saving 33.00

I literally can not tell the difference between high end and cheap and cheerful so what are your best dupes/switches?

Hello, this thread is a little old and the links are out of date. Take a look at this handy page for a round-up of Mumsnetters' favourite beauty dupes.

Barry M nail varnish is amazing, they have a black red that looks the same as rouge noir and doesn't chip anywhere near as much.

The Rimmel Provocalips in number 500 is an amazing red and really does last for about 12 hours.

Does anyone have a good pressed powder dupe? Currently use Benefit and I get through so much!

Deathray that works for me. Contact wearer with sensitive skin, so I don't like to use harsh removers around my eyes!

I order my cushion foundations from Yesstyle rather than buying them here and they’re around £10 for the same quality

I've ordered the chocolate orange MUR!

I'll report back when it comes. It looks like all the colours I love for eyeshadow so I've got high hopes!

I have bought the W7 Absolute Lashes , not tried it yet but the tube is as near as dammit a twin for Benefits They're Real
And a W7 Flirty Eyes which looks like a Rimmel (not a huge saving there but I'll give it a try)

I like NYX , I bought the micro eyebrow pencil in Taupe but my DD seems to have 'positively poached' (ie stole) it.

I like Sleek but not the much applauded Rose Gold blusher (dupe for Nars Orgasm) , way too glittery. My all time favourite blusher is a Laura Geller but it cracked and went all meh , had to go ,though I'd had it maybe 6 years ?

Barry M metallic liners - not a dupe as far as I know but I love them, soft but long lasting.

I cannot use Aldi creams , they run into my eyes and sting like billy-o

But I'm having great sucess with Superdrug Optimum at the moment Grin

Oh and W7 do an eye primer 'Lemon Meringue' which I tested on my hand , nice .
Looked very like Benefit 'LemonAid'
Didn't buy it , I have a Barbara Daly eye primer in the drawer

W7 Absolute Lashes - feels a bit stickier/dry on the brush than Benefit's They're Real but looks and lasts exactly the same for me once on.

Also W7 Queen of Brows eyebrow mascara - I think I prefer this to Gimme Brow! I used to use the Light-Medium shade in Benefit which they've now made Medium only and it's a bit too dark, but the W7 is great.

This thread is awesome! I have so much googling to do Grin

I second the NYX recommendations. I love the Lip Lingerie matte liquid lipsticks. Bedtime Flirt is the most fantastic colour for bringing out blue eyes, and it applies like a dream and lasts ages. Not too drying for a long wear matte product either. I also love their Soft Matte Lip Creams and Lip pencils too. So bargainous for the quality.

Can anyone recommend me a cheap dupe for the ABH Modern Renaissance palette?
