Lipstick Challenge January 2018.

Come my pretties.... Some of us did this last year, the idea of this is wearing a different lipstick everyday. I have more lipsticks than you can shake a stick at, I collect them.

Today I wore Kiko metal lipstick in Unconventional Gold, from their Arctic Holiday collection. It wasn't very pigmented, but it still looked pretty, (I'm partly blaming this on the condition of my lips, as they're as dry as the Sahara at the moment, and a bit flaky and scabby and disgusting at the moment to boot.) I will post a picture of the lipstick in a bit, it looks very pretty in the tube.

Thanks for the tips Sapphire. I've always assumed they are hard to apply and I'd make a mess of it, must give them a go!

You're welcome! I think it takes practice, and there are times when I make it look perfect and other times it's a bit wonky and I think "sod it, that'll do!" Even Queen Tati's lippy sometimes looks a bit uneven, and she's a qualified make up artist, so I don't feel too bad.

I too like a liquid, I have about 10 Bourjois ones and 3 Pupa ones, don't get me wrong they can be drying and hard to reapply/top up but they are nice.

I love liquids too but do struggle with staying power with some and def not as easy to apply. Forgot yesterday’s which was a new Clinique pop! Lovely bright pink that lasted through 2 G&Ts!

Yesterday I wore Colourpop Magic Wand. A medium peachy nude satin liquid lipstick - again, one of those that do not dry on the lips so it remains quite comfortable.

Today I’m wearing Guerlain Rouge G in Georgia (62). It’s a medium warm pink, which is very appropriate for spring and summer. It’s quite glossy (without being a lipgloss), and I think it looks quite fresh and youthful with this colour and finish. Or maybe I’m just hoping.

I've got lots of the Stila liquid lipsticks which are fab. I blend the colours with a little clean brush.

I wore MAC's In The Spirit today. It's a (supposedly) matte black. It didn't last very long, and it's not that pigmented, but it didn't dry my lips out (unlike the Urban Decay one I have).

I can't remember who suggested Smashbox to me, but I have two of their lipsticks now, the matte grey (Punked) I got I love, the black (Bankrolled) I got I wish I'd read the description of on their website (I got it off the Boots website). It looked pretty and sparkly in the tube, then I put it on and was going around and around my lips, trying to get it opaque. Turns out it's supposed to be sheer. Sheer! Who makes a sheer black lipstick? It always looks terrible. I spent £17.50 on that! I could have gone to Claire's and got something identical for £2.50! I've got wise now. :D Check the main website first! Anyway, I'm planning on getting some more this year, and hoping they will do a proper black lipstick in the meantime.

I mentioned the Smashbox matt lipsticks in this thread last year, well I think I did, but I wouldn't have recommended the sheer ones, and hopefully I mentioned they were quite drying!

I think you did mention the drying factor Buster. I had my eye on Fireball but ditched the idea after someone on here mentioned how drying Smashbox mattes are, may have been you

Lotta I've got fireball. It's very beautiful. One of my favorite lipsticks.

How drying is it Buster, compared with say, MAC mattes?

Oh goodness, I've not worn either in a while! I remember that the Smashbox gets a bit crispy if worn in the day, so I keep it for nights out!
You will have to wait and I'll wear it either tomorrow or Monday. Put it this way I have 2 Mac matts, and 4 Smashbox matts!

Today, I wore Trish McEvoy Nude pink lipstick. A really nice nude pink. Very minty as well.

Buster It didn't seem that drying to me, maybe I got lucky?

Today I started with Barry M Freakshow, a dark grey matte liquid lipstick, with Barry M Trick Or Treat, an iridescent black lipgloss, over the top. They were Halloween limited edition things. Looked great, so wish I'd taken a picture! Then I wore Kiko velvet passion matte lipstick in Purple Orchid, one of the ones I got today. I have been awake since 4:30 am because it takes so long to travel!

I went to Oxford to visit my family today and hauled some lip stuff, Urban Decay Heroine (dark blue matte) that I got for 50p! (I had £15 on my Debenhams beauty card,) the Kiko crazy colours collection (which has been driving me crazy as I couldn't find them on the website) and the Glam Rock lip palette (ditto.) Look at them! I am such a sucker for unusual colours. But I gave my sister six lipglosses I never wear, so it evens out! (They were given to me, I asked for some lipsticks from Sephora, what I got was milky pastel lipglosses that don't show up at all when I tried to wear them. MIL thought they were better because there were more colours. Hahahahahahahaha! Nope.)

Hi Lotta I've just applied Fireball and is isn't very drying or dragging, Sapphire is correct. Maybe I've got it confused with something else??? Anyway, it's on and I will report back later.

Lotta a tip if you do buy Fireball, Rimmel Exaggerate lipliner in Call me crazy matches it a dream!

Charlotte Tilbury Valentine today. It is a bit too pale nude pink for me to wear alone, so I use a bit of Mac Stone liner in the corners (and buff it out so it just looks like a shadow under the lipstick), and it makes it far more wearable IMO. I really like it that way.

So far my lips feel great! I'm not sure why I thought they were drying! Maybe I had dry lips at the time?!?!

Didn’t manage to post all weekend, it was so wet here we barely went out!
I wore Mac Mehr yesterday at home, one of my favourites. It’s a step up from an mlbb colour on me so you can tell I’m wearing something but it’s subtle. I find it easy to wear and love the finish.

Wearing Nars Audacious in Anita today. It’s a nice colour but I’m not convinced of the finish. Supposed to be long wearing but I lose half of it when I drink a cuppa. It’s my priciest lipstick and I don’t think I’d buy another. In the interests of science I will reapply with a liner and see if it stays better :)

Love that Buster. I love an orange-red but makes my teeth look yellow so always love it before I open my mouth! Def need a picture of the black lipsticks Sapphire. I’ve never tried anything like that.

After all the chat, a reduced Smashbox xmas set might have fallen into my Boots bag and then paid for by my Boots card! Gorgeous muted colours and the one today (Primrose Be Legendary lipstick) is mlbb which I don’t have at the moment!

Today, I'm wearing Tom Ford James with Charlotte Tilbury Pink Venus liner.
It's one of those mini-lipsticks from the Lips and Boys collection, but I just had to have it because of the name.

It's a really nice muted warm coral-orange.
I'm not usually keen on the warmer colours as they seem to make my teeth look yellow, but this one is lovely and my teeth aren't looking too yellow IMO.
It lasts well, wears well (fades evenly and leaves a quite nice matte colour on the lips - but not a stain) and is very comfortable to wear, although not hydrating, nor is it drying.

Pinkie, you could try Clinique Poppy Pop. Its a lovely blue-toned orange (if that make sense!) and doesn't cause the yellow teeth problem. MAC Lady Danger also very wearable, but much more drying than Clinique
