Anti Boden thread!

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 12:32

Think it might just be me, myself and Irene on this thread cos I get the feeling every other mumsnetter lives her life according to Boden!

Boden never really bothered me before, other than just thinking it was overpriced and for 'nice girls', but since I've realised the obsession with all things Boden on Mumsnet I now can't stand the stuff and it I can feel myself being irritated by the whole look of it!!!! I would never let a piece through my front door!

Boden Schmoden!

My only problem with Boden and Bodeners is pure envy! I would love to fit their clothes and afford them. Unfortunately of late I have been mostly shopping at the House of George

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 12:37

But it's like a uniform! That's why I don't like it. Sucha large population of mumsnet seem to adore it! I don't get it.

wait I'm going to go and have another look

hana · 19/04/2007 12:38

stuff is expensive I agree - I've bought things for dd over the past few years that can be passed to her sisters - her winter jacket and rainmac have been great buys, bought in the sale. havne' bought anything for a bout a year or so though, prob longer . and nver for me

puddle · 19/04/2007 12:40

Like the kids stuff - one of the few places that sell brightly coloured clothes for boys rather than the sludgy squaddie colours you find on the high st.

I find the women's stuff mostly frumpy (mid calf length skirts, short, square shaped tops) or a bit Timmy Mallet - "I'm mad, me in my funky skirt and hotchpotch top"

Kids stuffs wears brilliantly and I can sell on ebay when it's all too small.

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 12:41

LOL wildwoman, I don't mean it looks like a uniform, I mean it's like a mumsnet uniform or something!

wildwoman · 19/04/2007 12:41

I do really like the clothes TeeCee, but I don't think I would spend that kind on money on clothes even if I had it. Especially not on the kids (now that makes me sound awful!) becuase I meal and the stuff would be ruined.

Tinker · 19/04/2007 12:42

I have succumbed to teh odd item during the sales for me and my eldest - she hardly wears it though and I either send my stuff back or wear it (but rarely) to justify buying it. It's incredibly unsexy stuff though.

wildwoman · 19/04/2007 12:42

LOL I'm mad me!

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 12:42

Yeah I guess I'm not really talking about the kids stuff. Never really thought about the kids side of things. It's just the womens stuff. So many links in style on mumsnet are boden links. So much of style is Boden this, boden that. I don't get it.

wildwoman · 19/04/2007 12:43

Do you really think its unsexy? I have said before I have no sense of style whatsoever but I think the models look lovely.

Yes Tinker I think Johnny Boden's idea of sexy is Patricia Hodge with her top button undone.

wildwoman · 19/04/2007 12:44

God I'm thick...they're models of course they look lovely

I'd never even heard of Boden pre MN.
I wouldnt buy the stuff anyway.
Its ridiculously priced for basic stuff. I mean £50 for a plain jersey dress. Who are they kidding.

bundle · 19/04/2007 12:45

can't really get that worked up - they're only clothes...

i have a couple of boden kids things and their cottony cardis are good value in the sales.

oh and i gave one of the teachers at dd1's school a boden catalogue (unopened) for her reception kids to cut up

chocolateface · 19/04/2007 12:46

My DH thinks that there is a secret club you can only join if you wear Boden. He would never wear Boden, and does not like Jonny

custy · 19/04/2007 12:47

Bodens new strap-line

'Boden for boring people with too much money'

Tinker · 19/04/2007 12:47

Johnny does sound like a bit of a dickhead.

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 12:48

Boden is for nice girls.
It's for yummy mummy types, (whatever they are!)
It's Hunter wellies, privet hedges, Horatio types!

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 12:49

No you see Bundle, Boden are not just clothes, for some Boden is a way of life!

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 12:52

LOL custy!

Lucycat · 19/04/2007 12:53
