Anti Boden thread!

Think it might just be me, myself and Irene on this thread cos I get the feeling every other mumsnetter lives her life according to Boden!

Boden never really bothered me before, other than just thinking it was overpriced and for 'nice girls', but since I've realised the obsession with all things Boden on Mumsnet I now can't stand the stuff and it I can feel myself being irritated by the whole look of it!!!! I would never let a piece through my front door!

Boden Schmoden!

Boden wearers always smile gently at me and say things likre ''ah, but you're artistic dear, aren't you'' which is a euphamism for ''dress like a funny bag lady''

chocolateface · 19/04/2007 13:26

Oh, belive me, no one looks more like a funny bag lady than someone wearing old Boden clothes. I saw aBoden clad family in the Science Museum once, all 5 of them dressed head to toe in Boden , and they looked particularly scruffy, in a well off eccentric type of way.

Swizzler · 19/04/2007 13:27

dreary dreary dreary

chocolateface · 19/04/2007 13:27

I shouldn't have just said that. I get really good money for my children's old Boden clothes on e-bay. Ooops!

tarantula · 19/04/2007 13:28

I've dnever got the whole Boden thing either. But then I've never really got the whole shopping/fashion thing at all tbh.

Give me a good bargain from the teenage boys clearance section in TKMaxx......Cant beat it

chocolateface · 19/04/2007 13:30

But everybody looks like theyre having such a good time in the Boden catalogue...............

Bensonbluebird · 19/04/2007 13:30

I hate Jonny too. I read an interview with him once and he is a sexist git so i've been having a one woman boycott ever since. Thier clothes are terribly boring and completely overpriced too. They are what forties housewives would be wearing now. DS does have some Boden hand-me-downs from his cousin which are at least good colours.

chocolateface · 19/04/2007 13:34

Do you think Johnny's wife is a MNer?

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 13:46

LOL actually yes I bet Johnnys wife is a mumsnetter!

This thread is going so much better than I thought it would!

OP posts:
chocolateface · 19/04/2007 13:47

come on then, who is she?

MrsJonnieBoden · 19/04/2007 13:49

Poor Jonnie's going to be so upset.

curlysmum · 19/04/2007 14:08

I too am a Boden Hater , have looked through it and thought it was all awful with those mixed up patterns, I think its frumpy, mumsy and over-priced, it all looks so twee and you are right un-sexy. I can appreciate some of the shoes /boots are nice and a couple of bags but that's all really , for the kids would much rather buy dd gear in Gap or mix with H&M or Zara etc which I think is much better value . My dp always laugh's at the mums tripping along in their wellies and funny clashing patterned skirts and tops when they obviously cost alot but imo look ridiculous.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 19/04/2007 14:09

Boden doesnt do it for me

I look, but never find anything on tehre I an even fancy

I get away with being a bit odd as student / arty type rep atm!

MrsGumby · 19/04/2007 14:12

Clothes for teachers.

zippitippitoes · 19/04/2007 14:15

I don't know what is on the boden site but I imagine i wouldn't like it....it makes me think of blandness and chinos

PestoMonster · 19/04/2007 14:15

I don't fancy the grown-ups clothes, I admit. But my DDs look lovely in anything Boden I have bought them. I think their childrens stuff is great and wears well. The only thing I don't like about it is the price, but I only get stuff when there's a sale/offer on.

Pollyanna · 19/04/2007 14:16

I really like the children's clothes but can't stand the womens clothes. And as for the men's clothes [urgh emoticon]

bozza · 19/04/2007 14:22

I don't get it. I am in the camp that thinks it is frumpy and expensive. I tend to buy things in the New Look sale though.

cardy · 19/04/2007 14:27

I couldn't agree more - dull, dull, dull. I said this on a thread a couple of weeks ago and almost got crucified!

cardy · 19/04/2007 14:28

Just for the record - I am not snobby about it I just prefer Topshop.

RosaLuxembourg · 19/04/2007 14:31

Ha ha. I am wearing a Boden dress today and was wearing (a different) one yesterday. Tomorrow I will be wearing one of the other six Boden dresses I own. I love summer because I wake up and think - now which dress shall I wear today. (Most of them are clearance sale or Ebay though.)
So there it is, Boden haters - I LOVE BODEN SUMMER DRESSES (hate most of the other stuff though).

chocolateface · 19/04/2007 15:50

so, is it as clear cut as Wicked Weasle bikinis or boden Bikinis?

ViscountessPetitLapin · 19/04/2007 15:51

how can you not love this!

MrsJohnnieBoden · 19/04/2007 15:54

Thankyou Viscountess, glad to see someone appreciates us.

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 15:57

Big pouncy fucking skirt! Would look ok on a 3 year old!

Last year?s popular skirt is back and ready for action in four gorgeous new prints. The swish comes from the panelled construction. With a little help from you. BARF!
