Anti Boden thread!

TeeCee · 19/04/2007 12:32

Think it might just be me, myself and Irene on this thread cos I get the feeling every other mumsnetter lives her life according to Boden!

Boden never really bothered me before, other than just thinking it was overpriced and for 'nice girls', but since I've realised the obsession with all things Boden on Mumsnet I now can't stand the stuff and it I can feel myself being irritated by the whole look of it!!!! I would never let a piece through my front door!

Boden Schmoden!

yeah, but you're not wearing the commentary...

MrsJohnnieBoden · 19/04/2007 16:01

Teecee, I really do not apreciate your rudeness. If you no longer wish to receive one of our catalogues, please contact our customer services team. And if you dont like our website, don't look at it.

ViscountessPetitLapin · 19/04/2007 16:02

Well I like it!

bozza · 19/04/2007 16:02

The bit I don't love is where it says £55.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 19/04/2007 16:02

Not the skirt for me I'm afraid

far too

girly

and pretty

MrsJohnnieBoden · 19/04/2007 16:03

And excuse me, but who is thaat person pretending to be me? You can't even spell Johnnie.

MrsJohnnieBoden · 19/04/2007 16:08

Do drop by for tea sometime Viscount.

Troutpout · 19/04/2007 16:08

I love the designs for kids clothes...but i think they aren't that well made. Very thin material too don't you think? ..and sometimes...just sometimes... i think there is a fine line between market stall and Boden somehow.
Saying that.. (she whispers)i buy the odd bit when an offer is on coz it sells on well second hand.
Womens clothes are too ridiculously expensive though.

curlysmum · 19/04/2007 16:09

I think its quite gaudy & horrible as well as over priced would look maybe ok on my age 5 dd

MrsJohnnieBoden · 19/04/2007 16:14

Don't any you have anything better to do than say horrible things about Boden clothes? Can't you see the sun is shining?

bozza · 19/04/2007 16:17

Actually, no, being at work but about to be made redundant, no I don't have anything better to do except perhaps to look at job sites, but I don't know when I am going to be made redundant yet, and don't want to loose out on my payout. So really nothing to do, and really can't justify shelling out £55 on a cotton skirt.

Mercy · 19/04/2007 16:18

All the clothes have gone downhill in the last 2 or 3 years imo - even the girls clothes unfortunately. In terms of quality and style, I mean.

The women's clothes are pretty awful on the whole - vile patterns and colours. Although some the tops in the Winter/Christmas catalogue are sometimes quite nice.

I own 2 Boden garments; one a very plain denim jacket bought in a sale yonks ago and another 'anorak' type jacket, also in hte sale!

MrsJohnnieBoden · 19/04/2007 16:19

Poor you Bozza. Please contact Boden Headquarters to see if there is anything we can offer you.

electra · 19/04/2007 16:24

I agree about the uniform aspect of it. You can sort of buy men's, women's and children's matching stuff which is a bit odd

I love the girls stuff and my dds have mostly boden because where I live the shops are rubbish. The clothes are certainly worth the money in that they can be passed down and still look good as new.

bozza · 19/04/2007 16:24

Oooh what a good idea MrsJB. See I have something else to be getting on with now.

electra · 19/04/2007 16:25

However, the women's stuff is just dull as dishwater imho.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 19/04/2007 16:26

I'm waiting for the machine to finish washing the clothes to pack, Mr Boden, so again not really. Anyway lets call it constructive criticism....
as my good friend would say, 'you know what love? let's not!'

MrsJohnnieBoden · 19/04/2007 16:30

Maybe you have a point, Peachy. Personally, I don't have one of these tops myself.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 19/04/2007 16:32

Well no, esp. given you could get much the same (if, bizarrely you should want it) in any number of Old Lady stores for about a tenner.

And that colour- hardly spring-like is it?

themaskedposter · 19/04/2007 16:33

love the kids stuff , and quite a bit of the womens stuff too

It is good quality for a reasonable price (usually), and as well as the website the shop is easy to navigate with a nice little area for the kids to play PLUS my dear friend works there and thus sometimes I get a bargain!

zippitippitoes · 19/04/2007 16:33

surely even on mumsnet n one is going to admit they have a dp who looks like this here

bossykate · 19/04/2007 16:34

hmm, the guy in the background in the green shorts/trunks looks ok to me

zippitippitoes · 19/04/2007 16:35

are they his own feet he is wearing...not only do his clothes not go together even his feet don't match

PeachyChocolateEClair · 19/04/2007 16:36

DH looks like Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean and evven he wouldn't wear that top!
