Anti Boden thread!

Think it might just be me, myself and Irene on this thread cos I get the feeling every other mumsnetter lives her life according to Boden!

Boden never really bothered me before, other than just thinking it was overpriced and for 'nice girls', but since I've realised the obsession with all things Boden on Mumsnet I now can't stand the stuff and it I can feel myself being irritated by the whole look of it!!!! I would never let a piece through my front door!

Boden Schmoden!

kids stuff is fantastic quality.
dd is wearing a skirt that has seen almost continous wear for almost twho years. and she is only four. it still looks newish. [she is slimmer now, and it doesnt come down to the length it used to, ]
she has trousers that look fab, despite loasds of washing and drying.
the pyjamas are fab.

the ladies stuff is boring. the tops are too short. i dont like it anymore, though i do have a few bits i bought in the sales.

Artic Roll was the beach East Portlemouth ? A Boden haven to be sure...

Chocolateface · 20/04/2007 10:01

WOW! I just googled East Portlemouth and got a live webcam of Fore St in Salcombe showing Boden clad people walking up and down!

Bensonbluebird · 20/04/2007 10:48

Salcombe IS where Boden types go in the summer. My BIL and family have been there on holiday a couple of times. PIL do have a boat too (an old and small yacht I might add, scrambling to regain credibility. Do you think that means that I need to add Salcombe to my Boden boycott?

incy · 20/04/2007 12:11

I am afraid Salcombe must go if you feel strongly anti Boden. It is like a human nature reserve of Boden -ites.

Choclateface, I like the idea of a Boden cam where you can see how clothes look on ordinary folk and prevent terrible clothing mistakes. I will be watching to see if anyone appears in the hotpotch top.

Ilove Bodenesque beaches,so refined!!
I agree alot of Boden is overpriced and frumpy, but I usually buy a couple of things a season, have bought cardigan, vest and summer top this time, all reduced with various offer codes.
Agree with whoever said Topshop can be overpriced and poor quality though, bought two tops last summer, both £30 or so,both got holes in fabric after couple of gentle washes.Their T shirts don't seem as good a quality this year either.
Think Boden is ok for certain items, but not head to toe.

jenkel · 20/04/2007 13:04

I like the Boden kids stuff and have bought quite a bit, but dont like the adults stuff at all and none of it seems to fit me very well.

I am going rapidly off Boden since they have gone into world domination mode. I do not want to bump into someone wearing the same thing as me which can happen if you live in SW London. I only wear their stuff now if it is not obviously Boden. The children's clothes however, are another matter ....... they wear brilliantly and the girls stuff is not all cutesy pink (or trying to make little girls look like Bratz dolls). Johnny's article in the paper also put me off a bit, I have to say.....

divamumplusbump · 20/04/2007 20:45

agree that boden is face of mumsnet or smething, never knew boden till found mumsnet. vought couple of thing from sales, ladies clothes crap, returned them all, but kept dd`s clothes, not very impressed with quality. but ok for sale price, wont pay full price for any reason.
