WWW's 10year younger boot camp, belated week THREE, All Welcome...

WideWebWitch · 17/04/2007 19:57

Sorry everyone, I have been v busy drooling over property porn and it's taken priority over mumsnet so here we are, belated week 3, sorry for not starting it earlier.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Baaaaad Sunday, had tandoori chicken for supper and some (but not much wine)

Yesterday granola
was taken out for lunch, had a greek salad which was SWIMMING in bloody oil but I ate some of it, was starving
loads of apples
didn't walk because of lunch appt
but did have an early ish night, no booze

Today a bit better
granola
2 apples
a packet of crisps (250 cal)
prawn sandwich (250 cal)
a packet of extra strong mints (200 cal, oops)
5 fishfingers
loads of peas
plenty of water
walked 40 mins at lunchtime with sunscreen
and will be in bed early, I'm knackered

Well done everyone except people eating ready custard (urgh). Tortoiseshell, that sounds horrendous, sympathy. Batters, good on the walking. Puddle, yeah yeah re the colours (sneakingly interested).

I feel vile and look even viler. I also have another sore throat (think it's because dd has another one), a couple of people said 'wow, you should work on phone sex lines' when they heard my voice today

Have been off with the dcs for much of the Easter Hols so a brisk walk for 30 seconds never mind 30 mins has been tricky (both mine are distance meanderers, they will go for miles, with only the odd sprint from dd)
But have have no problem with being happy, using hand and body cream, suncream and staying off booze.
Diet hasn't been so great and dd keeps snaffling my glasses of water to paint with or wash her babies in
Are you moving or just voyeuristic www?

WideWebWitch · 17/04/2007 20:09

I think the holidays were bad from a 10yy pov for a lot of us Marina! I tried to walk with dd recently and she said her 'legs were fed up' within 5 seconds so I gave up. Welcome back

AH, bright shiny thread.
I am doing ok and my skin is looking really good after rejoining you all. HAve been quite poor re: booze - had a glass of wine last night and may well have one tonight but at least I am sticking to one.

Hooves flexitolled to within an inch of their lives and looking peachy.

I am not good with the sunscreen - checked the foundationy moisturiser I use at the weekend and was horrified to find it has to SPF factor AT ALL. I thought it did have . Need to rethink.

www you know you want to banish all that black from your wardrobe. Honestly I'm a convert

Marina lol at your dd bathing her dollies in your water.

Marina · 17/04/2007 20:16

I just read it all. I think what you are doing is right, and impressive, and very kind. With all that advice and your own innate shrewdness I am sure you will all find a workable solution

tortoiseSHELL · 17/04/2007 20:18

hi, just found this thread. Www - that sounds a really good solution, I hope you find somewhere that ticks all the boxes - how exciting! I agree with those people that said to get legal advice especially re BIL.

Hope everyone has a good week!

monkeytrousers · 17/04/2007 20:22

Okay today. Made a foccacia though and had a slice - just a slice! No cheese. Cheese is my kryptonite!

Hi everyone,
Am feeling fitter suddenly have noticed my jeans are baggy and I am finding walking up a hill near me on a daily basis much easier. Am still pondering the swimming. Went to have a look at the pool at lunch time but its so smelly and yuk ... but can't decide if it really is or if I am just finding excuses

Am still drinking lots of water again and doing all that needs to be done with potions and lotions.

Anyway, good day:

1x wholemeal toast & a banana (no spread)

1/2 avocado & tomatoes on wholemeal (sandwich) (no spread)
yeo valley natural yogurt
apple

2x oatcakes & hummous (no spread)

Couscous; beany vegetable ratatouille; 15g cheese; green salad

apple

I am personally sick of wearing trousers/jeans and black tops but I just don't do colour and I keep thinking it is so dated but I just can't break the habit of always wearing black. I see lots of coloured clothes I love on the peg but I just can't bring myself to do it. I wonder
if there is a group like AA I could join?

Sobernow - you could actually eat three? Haven't had one in years but remember the intense pleasure of licking all the white stuff to leave the chocolate shell. Sounds vaguely pornographic put like that!

Had a really good day today but have lovely "must be eaten" stilton in the fridge and when you have stilton (can't eat much but love the taste) you have to have a glass of red. Oh, perhaps I'll get DH to take a photo of me as that will put such thoughts out of my mind.

The "colours" session sounds good. I must admit to having way too much black in my wardrobe. It always makes me feel frumpy though unless it is a smart outfit or evening wear.

monkeytrousers · 17/04/2007 20:44

But what is it? Getting your roots done??

lol Batters. Puddle, get back here RIGHT NOW and explain

What 'having yer colours done' entails
How much £?
How many compliments have you had?
Doyou have lots of salmon in your wardrobe now? Sorry

Sobernow, me too, I thought, ooh, that'll be good to post when I was doing 40 mins walk at lunchtime. And I felt guilty about the crisps.

Ok, so which of us look like Greek widows then? Me, Winnie?

Thanks Marina and TS.

Mt, ooh, focaccia, I LOVE bread and have been eating a LOT less of it on this regime, which has definitely helped. I could eat lots of it, dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil

Winnie, can you find a nicer pool? I can't swim! Otherwise I think I'd be trying to do that as exercise. Other than the horror of anyone seeing me in a costume (I do keep remembering ex dh's comment though: you're a middle aged woman, NO-ONE's lookign at you! Bless him!)

Yoyo, ooh, I love Stilton with port, yum.

Hello all. Sorry, I haven't much time as have had a very busy day work and family wise today. I have a question about sunscreen. What do you all use? Does it go on first underneath foundation?

I am walking about 30 mins a day but then I normally manage that anyway because we take turns walking the dog.
I'm sure I haven't drunk enough water, though I think I've had 6-8 glasses.
No wine again tonight.
Didn't make time for body lotion as I was in a rush to get to work early. Just as well I did as I had to leave for about 2 hours to see to ds who was ill during the school day, then rush back to work to do things that really needed to be done today. Hey ho.
A buffet was provided lunch time today in work and I ate sensibly. A single flapjack was the only naughty thing.
Tea tonight was left over fish from yesterday and salad.
I am going to join a work colleague who goes swimming regularly. She does a mile 3 x a week! I used to be able to swim a mile. I'll build up to it. It'll be a bit difficult to fit it in around the kids and tea but I'll plan it in advance. I need to lose about half a stone to fit in my summer clothes, so it has to be done somehow!
Hand lotion will be done tonight.
I got to bed early for me last night - around 11pm. I'll make sure I'm there earlier tonight.
Be happy - Yep, I think so!

I'd like to know what colours suit me and also what shaped tops. When I helped dsis to go through her wardrobe, certain tops (i.e. short sleeved t shirts) appeared to pile weight on her whereas v neck long sleeved made her appear a stone lighter. And neutral ecru type colours with patterns suited her much much better than plain colours. Amazing.

prufrock · 17/04/2007 21:56

I've been really rather good today. No exercise other than 2 trips to school (but that's an 70 minutes in total, 30 of them walking fast and pushing a hefty (but incredibly dawdling if not in buggy) toddler. And I had no breakfast (BAD) mackerel sald for lunh (V. GOOD) and lamb stew with brown rice for dinner. And lots of water. And I am now over the 8pm craving for glass of wine, which i know is just a habit. So I am remembering www's saying that a habit is something you do 10 times, and thinking that I only have 2 weeks of not drinking during the week to go before it becomes normal again. School holidays are v. bad for bad habits.

puddle · 17/04/2007 22:33

Ok colours.

I had a two hour consultation which cost about £50.

BAsically the woman does a colour analyis based on your skin tone, hair, eyes etc. She works out what colour palette suits you. then (and this is the naff bit) she the swathed me in different coloured bits of material in 'my' colours to demonstrate how much better I looked in them. And she was right. I knew some colours that suited me but some were colours I would have been too scared to try, or wouldn't think would look nice.

I was stuck in a bad black rut and although it looks ok on me I can see I look a LOT better in other colours. My colours are nice - no salmon in sight! And you lot may even have black in your palette (you need a courteney cox/ catherine zeta jones type colouring for that).

She also did a make up job on me which, again I was sceptical about (I am quite good ith make up and know what suits) but she did a really good job.

swedishmum · 17/04/2007 22:55

Was it Colour me Beautiful? I'd love to get my colours done but wouldn't know where in Kent. I wear turquoise because a slightly edgy mature student at uni said it was my colour once (in 1983). I need help and am willing to pay!

Clary · 17/04/2007 23:02

Oh crikey sorry, not posted.

Good day exercise-wise - cycled to and from work and swam 20 lengths this am.

Food wise not great, too much cake and stuff (cheap at supermarket, fatal!) this pm.

Cycling again tomorrow tho which is good. Sunscreen and body cream going well.

Have also been running with DD (!) - we are doing Race for Life in 4 weeks and she's surprisingly good! (She's only 5 but my best hope for a runner).

Would also love to get colours done. Starting work late tomorrow because of long day last week and so having my hair cut 9.30am, hopefully this will make me look and feel better.

Need to work on my food for this thread to work for me. Exercise is good tho.

WideWebWitch · 18/04/2007 07:26

Thanks Puddle. Actually I realised a while ago that blues and greens suit me better than reds adn pink, which look awful on me so I do think there's somethnig in it.

Early night last night, no booze for 2nd night running, feel a bit better this am. Have packed hummus and pepper for lunch.

Didn?t the fast show (so something similar with Morwenna Banks) do a sketch on that all those years ago? I distinctly remember the phrases "oh, you are a definite summer/winter/autumn/spring" (said in with a craving over sincerity) doing the rounds in the 90s!
