Sorry everyone, I have been v busy drooling over property porn and it's taken priority over mumsnet so here we are, belated week 3, sorry for not starting it earlier.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I think I am the black sheep of this thread. After an Ok week, we had friends round to stay on Friday night, and somehow managed to drink 2 bottles of champagne, 1 of white, and 3 red - between just 4 of us. And we stayed up until about 3am. So of course yesterday was a washout as well as it had to start with a full breakfast and end with takeaway curry. Though I did manage to drink about 4 litres of water! And have f&fs when I finally got to bed on Saturday am , so exercise at least

But I am starting today with poached eggs on toast (no butter) and will then take the dog for a very long walk. So I am back to being good

foxinsocks · 22/04/2007 10:13

v impressive drinking prufrock!

well, I was awoken at 3am with dd leaning over my head saying she was going to be sick. I managed to dodge the onslaught but it covered the duvet, sheet and a huge pile of clean washing that I had stacked next to the bed to put away at some point (aarrghh - that will teach me for being so slovenly!). Dh did lots of clearing up (I'm a sympathetic vomiter so not very good at all this stuff!) then buggered off to dd's bed leaving me with Vomiting Veronica as my bed companion before I could utter wherethebloodyhelldoyouthinkyou'regoing.

Of course, impeccable timing on her part - it's a bug for sure - the builders are here for another week in the only bathroom (with the only loo) in the whole house and ds is already looking peaky arrrghhh. Have fingers in my ears and am going la la la as to what to do if we all have this next week as we cannot cannot delay the builders.

Still, it will do wonders for my calorie consumption this week no doubt .

But it sounds great fun Prufrock!
Winnie and Marina, well done.

Yesterday was terrible 10yy wise but v pleasurable:

bacon sandwich
Indian, wine for lunch
half a pizza, chianti for supper
late night
but v happy

Well done Iota too!

Well, bless me sisters, for I have sinned. And I'm not even repentant. The rows with DP continued, culminating in me throwing some (soft) recycling at DP - I have been moaning for years about the state of our house and suddenly it's all my fecking fault, apparently .

So I changed my mind about cooking a stir-fry and we ate crackers and (nice) cheese. And lots of wine. And chocolate. I did make a carrot salad, but mainly in order to be martyred, if you know what I mean. And I made - and ate - blueberry muffins for breakfast today.

We seem to be a bit happier now, though.

yoyo · 22/04/2007 10:44

Neither a good or particularly bad day yesterday although an early evening "come in for a cup of tea" with friends turned into a couple of glasses of wine. Then had more wine later on. Still, today is another day. I was meant to be swimming with the family but got to the pool and DD's period had started so I left to bring her home. Any idea when she can use tampons as she is a very keen swimmer and this is going to be incredibly annoying for her? This is only her second cycle so it is all new and difficult too.

Winnie - congrats on losing so much weight. Good luck this week.
Prufrock - sounds like you had a great Friday night and alcohol-fuelled F&FS must burn off loads of calories.
FIS - hope the vomiting is not a bug just something she'd eaten.

WideWebWitch · 22/04/2007 10:55

Yoyo, my periods started at 11 and my mum was most insistent that I used tampons from the beginning, which I did. Looking back it was the right thing as it meant I could get on with life etc.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 22/04/2007 10:58

I think tampons aren't recommended at that age, though, as the body is still growing: having said which I don't think they do any particularly lasting damage.

WideWebWitch · 22/04/2007 10:59

Oh aren't they, I didn't know that.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 22/04/2007 11:00

Apparently....not sure why though!

WideWebWitch · 22/04/2007 11:02

this says ok but no idea of reliability of source (looked up because I thought omg, was My Mother Very Wrong?!

WideWebWitch · 22/04/2007 11:04

here says same thing

Thanks for the links WWW. She is 11 and I think I will buy her some today. She will only use them when she has swimming so as long as she is comfortable she should be okay. Her first period was very heavy and lasted 10 days so she is quite tearful that she has to go through it all again so soon (only 3.5 weeks since her first). I started at 9 and can't rememeber when I used tampons first although was using them at secondary school.

yoyo · 22/04/2007 11:11

MI - I really fancy some warm blueberry muffins now. I actually have blueberries and nat yog in the fridge...

Some of it is

The pak choi has wilted, so stir-fry is off again tonight Have avoided throwing anything, anyway, so far at least.

WideWebWitch · 22/04/2007 19:24

Oh batters, what lovely compliments, how nice!

Hmmm, brie wrapped in prosciutto with cranberry sauce on it, yum. Or

Will start a week four thread tonight too. I need to exercise more this week for sure.

OP posts:
Marina · 22/04/2007 19:36

You are looking extra fab on it though batters truly
Stayed on the wagon-ish today despite siren call of lovely menu and lunch out with friends. Special K (bloody yawntastic this stuff is like eating eco-packaging) for brekky, no biscuits at church despite doing coffee (that really is a first for me), salad at the restaurant, plus a smidgen of dd's spurned pizza in case it was off , plenty of water and cream of various sorts during day, and small portion of spaghetti for dinner.
Reading everyone's anecdotes and highs and lows is helping me stay on track (plus there was a Mumsnetter at my lunch who knows I'm at Bootcamp ), so it's great to read everyone else's posts.
I had a sympathetic wince at Vomiting Veronica though Blimey FIS, not a weekend to remember. Hope next week is better.
Shopping did turn up on time yesterday evening batters thanks and with it some additional wine. I should jolly well think so too .

Marina · 22/04/2007 19:36

Exercise is where I'm falling down too www. I am not even summoning up the energy to throw things at dh.
