Sorry everyone, I have been v busy drooling over property porn and it's taken priority over mumsnet so here we are, belated week 3, sorry for not starting it earlier.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Hello all!

Walking good - I am going to have to start my walk into work from further out, as I am getting here too quickly these days! So I must be getting fitter.

Going to bed early - disaster - I never seem to switch the light off until 11.45! Aaaaarrrrggghh!

I don't know how many steps I do, keep meaning to get a pedometer but haven't got round to it yet.

When I started it used to take me about 25 minutes to walk from Bethnal Green tube station, via Brick Lane, to Liverpool St and now I can do it in 15. So I need to start getting off the bus to give myself a longer distance to walk.

I must get one. What is regarded as a reasonable number of steps per day?

Dingle · 20/04/2007 17:09

my ped is lurking somewhere!! I think 10,000+ steps a day is recommended.

I managed about 10 lengths of the pool whilst ds2 had his swimming lesson - I know that pales into insignificance against MI's impressive tally, but I had to allow time for a steam and a bubble in the jacuzzi.

monkeytrousers · 20/04/2007 18:29

My best day for soo long.

1 shake, 1 apple, lots of water
1 shake, lots of water
Count on us veggie risotto from M&S with x2 slices of multigrain, a few grapes.

Walked up a very steep hill back from work and had no crisps or cake at work.

I am having a couple of drinks tonight, but not wine. Probably a couple if spirits with diet coke. and lots of water.

monkeytrousers · 20/04/2007 18:30

What MI has neglected to tell us is that her pool is only 5 metres long!

HyperspaceManatee · 20/04/2007 18:39

MT - that must be the reason

yoyo · 20/04/2007 18:52

Having a really good day. Slept really well last night despite DH waking me up at 11.30 by shouting "Have I been asleep?" (referring to himself). He tried to climb over me to get out of bed last week so not so bad really!
Sunscreen to face and hands, water and lots of healthy food. Had loads cut off my hair - DC think it looks lovely (probably because it looks neat for a change) but I will reserve judgement until I do it myself! Have booked for colour in a month's time (gulp!).
Skirt in Monsoon was lovely but couldn't find a short enough top to wear with it. This is the skirt .
Fish and bean soup for supper when the children are in bed and a few glasses of Prosecco.
Have a good evening everyone.

SimplySparkling · 20/04/2007 18:59

That's right Dingle.

I've just remembered that I had thought to go swimming this afternoon. Ooops. I haven't walked the dog yet either (my exercise bit) but hopefully dh and I can do that together when the kids are both at their after school thingymabob.

WideWebWitch · 20/04/2007 19:34

Oooh, I like that skirt, I really do.
I want a pedometer, I had one but no idea where it's gone. Well done batters and dino, that's lots of walking.

Marina, oh no re Ocado! MI, swimming at wine o'clock on Friday night?

I am drinking wine and waiting for spatchcock poussin to cook. Yum. Happy Friday everyone, feel free to drink

Good day bootcamp wise

Have alovely weekend everyone

winnie · 21/04/2007 08:47

I meant yesterday was a good day

foxinsocks · 21/04/2007 15:15

I've not done badly today. Woke up and discovered a Stephen King like scene in the kitchen - red liquid pouring out of the freezer and down the fridge. Had visions of body parts in the freezer (was wondering why the builders were out so sharpish when we got back on Friday) but it turned out that they had unplugged the fridge freezer to plug their radio in (aaarrrghhh) and everything had defrosted (including a huge bag of summer fruits hence the red stuff pouring everywhere!).

Luckily there wasn't much in it, innit. So had big bowl of grapes for brekkie, had a chicken mayo baguette when out for lunch and tonight I'm having a curry out so will try and be good and have the tandoori oven baked stuff not in the sauce.

Have not had sweets or crisps today but will be having lots of champagne and cake over the next few days as it's my mate's birthday tomorrow and mine on Monday so we'll celebrate tomorrow in the sun.

foxinsocks · 21/04/2007 15:16

oh and although I've done no exercise today, I'll go swimming tomorrow morning and try and fit a fair few lengths in.

motherinferior · 21/04/2007 16:06

Well, you orrible lot, I did indeed go swimming and FYI 60 lengths is just under a mile, brag, preen...

...but then I did come home and have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner, and indeed have had a couple this afternoon while yes ahem sitting in the sun eating cake with friends.

Happiness quota also somewhat compromised by the fact that (a) I have to think serious worky thoughts about something this afternoon (b) DP and I started today with a huge horrible shouty screamy row about the state of our house - which apparently is all my fault even though I do seem to spend quite a lot of the time ranting about the fact that the Inferiority Complex has all the comforts and style of a Manila junk heap - and although it's all over now I still feel fed up, a bit.

Had a peculiarly tasteless fish pie (made by DP) for lunch too.

foxinsocks · 21/04/2007 16:32

did you put salt on the fish pie, in front of dh ? I always find that makes a somewhat needless, although still quite satisfying, point.

motherinferior · 21/04/2007 18:17

AND pepper, AND Worcester sauce

WideWebWitch · 21/04/2007 19:09

FIS, oh no, what tossers re the freezer.

I had a bacon sandwich and a black coffee for breakfast, brought to me in bed by dh and a curry and half a bottle of Chablis for lunch, whereupon I fell asleep on the sofa for most of the afternoon.

No exercise, not enough water (although I am necking loads now due to wine at lunchtime, I really cannot cope with drinking at lunchtime, I shoudl know this by now) although I have used body lotion all over. And I'm v happy, dd and I had a lovely day together yesterday and we're having a nice weekend so far.

iota · 21/04/2007 19:17

We had a lovely day at Legoland today - perfect weather and not many people there

So far today I've had a bacon sandwich - grilled and only 1 slice of bread, a chicken caesar salad at LL and a rather nice cinnamon twist.

We will be having lamb steaks on the BBQ tonight - Greek style with pitta, dips and salad

I must have walked miles at LL, not to mention some serious pumping on the Fire Academy ride - that'll have toned my biceps and triceps.

What a nice day - hope everyone else is having a good weekend

Marina · 21/04/2007 19:35

We've been to a birthday party (no Calpol involved) and I've generally been a good girl. Veg soup for lunch (home-made), chicken stir fry by dh tonight, one v. small glass of wine and 1 chicken drumstick at party.
Glad you had such a great time Iota and rotten luck re the freezer foxinsocks. We are now wine-enabled and just need to prise ds away from Dr Who and make him go to bed.

winnie · 22/04/2007 07:45

Yesterday was another fab day. Did lots of gardening and am feeling very happy Got on the scales this morning and have lost 6lbs this week which tells me that housework (did lots of Springcleaning last weekend) and gardening are very good for me...
