Have ordered Blush

Another Kiss By The Fireside, because it gets a lot of love on here
Goodbye Piccadilly, because the notes sound fab and I love the idea of a suffragette perfume!
Midnight in the Palace Garden, because it's a no-brainer

9mls only though. Teeny tiny bottles, as you say bluebell. Barely noticeable, in fact. Nothing to see here, oh no 😇

JanetStWalker · 02/11/2017 21:57

Eau My Soul is bloody AMAZING!!! Smells like a rich, sexy man's cashmere scarf - cosy warm woods, cognac and a whisper of expensive cigar smoke.

Gutted it's excluded from the offer, I will be eking out my meagre 9mls drop by drop.

MrsMacNally · 03/11/2017 00:06

That does sound good Janet - I really like the 4160s with tobacco. The Great Randello and Rome 1963 come highly recommended. The Great Randello is a great autumn gourmand.

GreenPolishToGo · 03/11/2017 01:09

Eau My Soul is beautiful. It has everything but the kitchen sink in it and in the wrong hands I'm sure it could be a complete mish-mash. But Sarah Mac has blended the umpteen ingredients perfectly to give a smooth, incense-laden, powdery, amber scent that is incredibly classy. I am so glad I took a risk on the crowd-funding for it.

TeaAndToast if you like aldehydes and florals you might like Fior di Panna a very lovely Venetian perfume Bluebell and I were admiring coveting on the last thread. It's available as a sample, and the top notes are sparkling aldehydes, transforming into a delicate, pretty, soapy, powdery floral, finally drying down into a gentle blend of vanilla and sandalwood. It's on my wishlist along with Merchant of Venice Byzantium Saffron and how fast were you two, Pest and MrsMac, at guessing it today! Seriously impressive detective work on your parts.

Le Couvent des Minimes Eau des Missions is my preferred scent for going to sleep. Such a delicious, soothing, smoky, boozy, vanilla. Other favourites to doze off with are Lush Vanillary and Hashtag Parfums I Love You. None of them cost very much so I don't feel I've wasted them if I fall asleep almost immediately.

Lovely kind DD, who is much more au fait with this Facebook malarkey, sent me a message first thing that Sarah Mac and 4160 Tuesdays were running an amazing 3 for 2 offer. So as well as the intended SOTD Black Opium which I'd just put on, various bits of me have also been sprayed with different 4160 samples to help me choose which to pounce on. At the last count I was wearing Rosa Ribes, Tokyo Spring Blossom, Invisible Ben, Marcel, London 1969, The Lion Cupboard, Fruits of the Tree of Knowledge and Tart's Knicker Drawer, as well as Black Opium. Probably I should be wearing a hazard warning!

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 03/11/2017 06:06

Argh No! My credit card might be breathing a sigh of relief but what a shame Eau My Soul isn't included.

CountFosco · 03/11/2017 06:15

So, in the interests of science, what are everyone's favourite 4160 perfumes? Thinking the offer is a good opportunity to buy some Christmas presents for myself other people.

My Mum wore Tweed when I was a child and likes a bit of Chanel No 5. SIL likes heavy fruity florals and DSis has very similar taste to me (so I'll get her my favourite of the testers so far).

I've just sprayed myself with WIDOMH so that minty top note is still dominating.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 03/11/2017 07:18

I haven't tried as many 1460 perfumes as some other people here but my current favourites are:
Rome 1963
Shazam!
Dark Heart of Old Havana
Doe in the Snow
Ealing Green
Tokyo Spring Blossom

SOTD is Geminesse. Can't decide which 3 1460 scents I want in the offer - do I pick old favourites or try something new...

explodingkittens · 03/11/2017 07:24

My experience of 4160 is quite limited compared to some on this thread but I've definitely had my head turned by The Dark Heart of Old Havana, which would be a fantastic present for anyone who likes moody, dark, mysterious scents. It's coffee, rum and cigars, quite sweet but in a black-treacle way rather than candy floss, with a smoky edge. It's utterly delicious.

I think the last thread had quite a bit about posters' 4160 faves (or it could have been the thread before, we do like to chat!) which could be worth a look for ideas.

Judy, I totally agree about LADR. It is fast becoming a favourite. Sadly I'm no Jane Birkin 😆

Deathraystare · 03/11/2017 08:33

I read Caldey Island as Canvey Island! Particularly bad as they once had a methane terminal there!!!!

Intrigued by some of these perfumes but no idea where you get them from.

GlovesAndHatsAndFloofyCats · 03/11/2017 08:46

I cannot click on any more links, you terrible lot of enablers! (Seriously I can’t, an MOT, 2 broken and essential kitchen appliances, and for the DC 2 coats, 3 pairs of trainers and 1 travel pass just this week alone...)

So anyway, favourite 4160s, you say?! GrinI’ve not tried as many as the enablers experts here but my absolute fave is Ealing Green. And I don’t love green bright type perfumes normally so this is surprising but it’s just addictive to me, I love it. The other faves are Babylon Sunset and Sleep Knot which are more in my preferred type of scent stable.

Very disappointed about Eau P. Tea I second Arpege as a suitable replacement, vintage if you can get it.

I too am in absolute awe of the perfume mastery displayed on the thread. I think we need a tiny trophy (in the shape of a scent bottle, naturally).

Bluebell very sorry for your tricky time, hope the stress relieves soon, and for other perfumistas having a mare with work/teeth/sleep etc. FlowersBrewGin (gin or perfume bottle there, take your pickSmile)

I seem to have given up on sleep but my bed perfumes are L’Aimant or Anais Anais for maximum cosiness. I would love to wear Shalimar in bed but PatientLongSufferingDH already wheezes due to Floofy Cat that sleeps with us. Adding Shalimar might tip him over the edge Grin

I have no SOTD yet as I’m waiting for the postie to arrive

Ooh Bonfire Night. A good day for a lovely smokey perfume! Who needs cars, and fridges, and well shod children?!

GlovesAndHatsAndFloofyCats · 03/11/2017 08:48

Sorry, obvs it’s Floofy under a seasonal NC. Fucking November, my credit card is also groaning under the weight of thermal gloves and socks. Don’t suppose anyone else has Raynauds and we can add it to the ever expanding Venn Diagram? Grin

MrsPestilence · 03/11/2017 08:54

Hi Deathray
Good places to get perfumes, that also do samples (mistakes are very expensive)
Bloom based in Covent Garden, lots of niche stuff.
Notino internet based, loads of stuff, some with good discounts, lots of samples.
Roullier White lots of niche stuff, does samples.
Caldery Island from the monks themselves.
All Beauty Loads of every thing, good discounts. Alas no samples.
Lots of alternative places, which I am sure others will add.

Thanks Mrs Pestilence!

GreenPolishToGo · 03/11/2017 08:56

Morning all. Fosco the chat about favourite 4160 Tuesdays perfumes starts halfway down page seven of the last thread and continues for a couple of pages. Do let us know if you want to know more about any in particular because between us I'm sure we have tried the lot.

explodingkittens · 03/11/2017 09:11

Am working from home today, so am in pyjamas and two lots of L'artisan Parfumeur. Timbuktu on the left wrist, Traversee de Bosphore on the right. Am preferring my right wrist at the moment, but this may change.

Deathray, we are sample fiends. Have a look on the previous page and there's a really useful terribly enabling link to procuring samples. And then hide your credit card!

Floofy, hope you're feeling better? I have appalling circulation in my hand and feet, which go white and rigid in the cold. Then itchy and red, chilblains a-go-go. Thankfully it's still mild at the moment so I've not had to drag out the thermal gloves yet!

BluebellGal · 03/11/2017 09:44

I’m in Pest C - what a beautiful perfume.
It’s gorgeous.

I’m struggling to pick out notes but it is floral, perhaps some aldehydes and animalic. I’m getting a slight indolic scent in this first hour which seems to be softening (is it Jasmine again?)

BluebellGal · 03/11/2017 09:44

Thanks for the well wishes, stress a bit more under control than yesterday

OCSockOrphanage · 03/11/2017 09:51

PdE Equistrius today as (1) I haven't worn it for yonks and it's a favourite. Softly leathery with iris and a spicy chocolate note (2) it feels right for the day and the weather.

But I also have a dab of En Passant on the other wrist because the pencil case, where the failures live, surfaced and I remember it as being distinctly faecal, but today it's just quite a safe lilac, although it still does nothing much for me.

I was wasting time browsing 4160's site after reading the overnight traffic, and came across Who Knew which I haven't smelled but I am intrigued by the notes; has anyone tried it? Roses and vetiver makes it sound like something I would like.

MrsMacNally · 03/11/2017 10:04

Morning All.

OC - I have a full bottle of Who Knew (got lucky on ebay) and I wouldn't be without it. It's a sweet red rose in a deep green wood with smoky tea notes. A dark but calming rose. (It has a strawberry note which sounds scary on paper but just serves to sweeten the rose).

Blue - yes, with you on the jasmine in Pest C. Wondering too about red berries, tuberose, rose and (pink?) pepper? Myrrh a long shot....

MrsMacNally · 03/11/2017 10:07

Deathray - just shout if you're trying to track down something in particular.

mrsreynolds · 03/11/2017 10:18

Estée Lauder knowing today

MrsMacNally · 03/11/2017 10:19

What are you going for Green?

Judy - reporting back. (Dental D-day Pt 1). Only pain involved was confirmation that a dental implant @2.5k is the best solution.

Might just have to get a parrot and a hoop earring and make it a 'look'.

Hope your session goes OK and is pain free. Mentally, spending your time in the chair fantasy shopping with the 4160s 342 offer could be the way to go...?

BluebellGal · 03/11/2017 10:22

Pest C update- smelling musk now

MrsMacNally · 03/11/2017 10:39

It's really different on paper.

MrsMacNally · 03/11/2017 10:43

Is there something green or earthy coming through underneath - patch or vetiver?
