SOTD is Atelier Cologne Grand Neroli inspired by your ACs!

Hope mrsm is ok?!?

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 09/12/2017 19:12

No settled snow here yet but weekend plans cancelled as lots expected overnight and visitors have left early to avoid getting stuck. I do hope it's business as usual by Monday...

SotD was ACAC Bergamote Soleil. There's not much to dislike about these AC citruses although I don't get the lavendar that's in the notes which is a shame. So far I'm torn between Orange Sanguine and Cafe Tuberosa as my favourite.

Layered the Bergamote Soleil with fakey Addict in the afternoon for a lovely enveloping comforting effect.

(And in other LF AC news have been sporting hair so voluminous I'm giving Crystal Tips a run for her money thanks to yesterday's no blow dry cream and am excited about today's banana powder. Always wanted to get to grips with a setting powder so looking forward to having a go!)

Calmwhoknows · 09/12/2017 19:58

SOTD was Mancera Roseaoud & Musc. Beautiful - exactly as it says on the tin and lasted all day.

BluebellGal, I keep thinking about joining the Perfume Society. I bought one of their boxes once; such good value even without the discount. The Prada Miniatures are a bargain.

MrsPest, yes I enjoyed Australia! It was definitely a trip of a lifetime. Highlights were snorkelling at Ningaloo; the Blue Mountains near Sydney; the beautiful Botanical Gardens in several areas with their weirdly different vegetation and wild life; and seeing an orphaned wombat with his carer (a charming volunteer lady who had undertaken to foster him for two years!). But really I have lots of enjoyable memories.

Cheap, I have just received a Perfume Parlour order of several fragrances, including a small bottle of “Vol de Nuit” oil. I will let you know what I think, although I can’t compare with the real thing as I have never smelt it.

Floofy, yes it certainly seems very chilly here after Australia. We couldn’t believe the forecasts that we were going to be arriving back to minus degrees! Incidentally, with your love of chocolate oranges, have you ever tried 4160’s Inevitable Crimes of Passion? That has a definite chocolate orange vibe. PM me if you would like a sample as I have a bottle and am happy to spread my love of it 💕

PerfumeIsAMessage · 09/12/2017 20:21

I have the PP version of Vo de Nuit. It's (IMO) slightly sweeter than the original, but no less lovely. Definitely on my FB wishlist. It probably would be for its name alone tbh. Grin

Calmwhoknows · 09/12/2017 20:55

Perfume, I think it may have been you who recommended PP Vol de Nuit further up thread? If so, thank you! I do love recommendations, as well as looking for the 4-5 star reviews on the Perfume Parlour site. Yes, the name is very evocative and also the whole “Night Flight” story behind the perfume.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 09/12/2017 21:36

Ooh you enablers!!! Grin

I might have to do a PP order in January now, along with a Perfume Society box...

MrsPestilence · 09/12/2017 22:56

..and the Tauers Cheap, don't forget the Tauers Grin

Got another Miller Harris candle from TKMaxx, Fleur Oriental this time and some Rodial stuff £7.99 down from £92 Shock

I'm going to have to do a PP order in the new year, just to see.

@MrsMacNally how is the breathing? Not like you to go silent when there are advent calendars to be opened.

Loving PW Girl, really dirty violets, none of this electric parma violet stuff

Talking of MrsM she requested of our next thread (which is looming) Please can our next thread title be ' the one with copious cat hair on our [scented] negligees'? I have no cat nor negligee, who is up for the challenge?

My imaginary authors hasn't yet arrived despite my stalking of the postman. He's starting to look at me weirdly but I NEED my perfume Grin

MrsMacNally · 10/12/2017 10:15

Morning All - thanks for your good wishes. Feeling better today...and so much to catch-up on (although I'm needing to be cautious about breathing things in Sad). Hope everyone is safe and warm with lots of lovely, Christmassy things to smell Smile?

Will catch-up with the calendar later and at least report what the missing days were....

Welcome back Calm - tell us about the perfume scene in Australia?

Thanks Pest - glad you're enjoying PW Girl. I rate it too.

Motoko · 10/12/2017 10:29

Morning all. We've got snow here, but it's just turning to slush.

Haven't chosen SOTD yet, but yesterday's Shazam! just seemed to dry down as a mild patchouli. I'll use the sample up, but will stick to patchouli oil when I want to bring out the old goth in me.

Hope none of you are snowed in and those feeling poorly are able to stay in the warm and keep snug.

Motoko · 10/12/2017 10:30

Doh! Forgot to ask, is there a new thread up yet?

CountFosco · 10/12/2017 11:15

ACD SotD is Vanille Insensee. Vanilla, lime and oakmoss. I get no lime, just a blast of vanilla essence (i.e. very strong) which is quickly turning woody. 'Men's changing rooms' declared DH. I'm calling it Insensitive Vanilla. I'm really hoping it disappears even quicker than average!

In slightly better news yesterday's Oolang Infini was absolutely gorgeous. More of a skin scent (unlike today's it wasn't at all shouty) but it's sophisticated slightly spicy scent lasted longer than any of the others ACs.

teta · 10/12/2017 11:29

Welcome from a very snowy Narnia ......
Les Saisons Hiver by Van Cleef and Arpels - snow softly falling on cedars is the SOTD.

explodingkittens · 10/12/2017 12:27

New thread here

FloofyCatIsComingToTown · 10/12/2017 16:05

Love the new title! I feel like I should be wearing an Elizabeth Taylor perfume for the full effect!

Lots of silent but beautiful snow here, hope it's not causing any problems for other Perfumistas. DH leaves the house at 4am and the forecast said it would be -6 tomorrow. He might have to dig his car out!

Centrepiece is gorgeous Janet, I've put a teeny bottle in the stocking of my perfume loving DD.

Onenight Maybe you should arrange a GP visit? I ignored similar last year and it really fucked up my Christmas, I should have gone to the doctors well before I did. Nice to see you (and MrsMac back though, I'm sure we are missing a few others - green are you about? Guess everyone is horribly busy in December!

Calm thank you - I have tried a sample of the Crimes of Passion and (although it really should be on paper) it wasn't one of my favourites. I prefer the 4160s citrusy one's but I think I'm in the minority here!

SOTD is Shalimar - thanks to my ineptitude with teeny bottles I managed to entirely miss my neck and generously spray my "sold on EBay and need to be packaged" clothes pile Hmm I am damned if I'm going to wash them all again so hopefully people will like it Grin

My advent calendar was a face mask which contained orange essential oil, was very nice and felt very lux even if my skin still looks pale and tired!

Hope people are feeling better Thankstwo weeks until Christmas Eve!

FloofyCatIsComingToTown · 10/12/2017 16:06

Oh FFS I'm on the old thread aren't I, I really am having an inept day here!

CountFosco · 10/12/2017 16:11

Confused
MrsPestilence · 10/12/2017 16:15
