I have spotted something with these notes Pest.

MrsPestilence · 02/11/2017 13:23

With a Shakespeare connection?

Sarah may have been hit on the head too hard at 4160

Open Studio bargain weekend offer. 2-4 November 2017.
A VERY SPECIAL 3 FOR 2
Buy two full price same size perfumes and you can have the third one free. The special bit? You get the most expensive one free!
You could have two x 30mls at £40 each and add £95 Goddess of Love & Perfume.
Can be done over the internet, just add the free bottle in the checkout notes.

That's the one Pest!

MrsMacNally · 02/11/2017 14:30

Wow...ponders Xmas present possibilities. Would be especially good for MitPG lovers.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 02/11/2017 15:19

Surely there must be shome mishtake there? You get the most expensive one free? That might even justify the monstrous postage costs.

How funny- I am also in PP Sahara Noir today, and will add it to the bedtime possibilities as it's a soft spicy incense on me. It's actually a deadringer for Impulse Nirvana body spray for those old enough to remember it.

We can also seemingly add NY Frankincense to our Venn diagram as I am never without a pot of the cream (and one of those daft quizzes on FB told me I have the face of a 28 yr old so it must be good Grin)

Tea- what about Cristalle? Do you like sharp citrussy greens? For me, after 19 probably the most grown up Chanel is 31 Rue Cambon. It's also a long laster unlike some of the other exclusifs.

I find Lonesome Rider to be the most karvoly of the Tauers, though all 4 that I have (LR, LM, LADDM, ACdD) all have that nose clearing element of good strong spice. Speaking of which Andy Tauer himself (or his FB page manager) liked my comment yesterday (suggesting the coinage of a new adjective "tauery")

My perfumista colleague brought me in her latest find to sniff today.
It's this www.iprofumidelmarmo.com/bianco_carrara/ which is £££££s and very nice, but tbh, nothing that we've not already smelled with Tauer and any multitude of other niche houses recently. It also settled into a disconcerting BO thing after a while, which made me wonder if there was cumin in there somewhere.

MrsMacNally · 02/11/2017 17:41

Whilst we're taking incense, can I mention 4160's Parallel - caraway, rose, frankincense and mandarin. Really interesting to wear and sort of defies categorisation. The caraway is almost minty - so it has an uplifting, refreshing quality.

And YSL Nu deserves a mention - I cherish the dregs of my second bottle.

BluebellGal · 02/11/2017 18:32

Just back from the Big Smoke - sorry for keeping you in suspense over Bluebell C I forgot my phone today!

You two are too good! Yes to Saffron and the Shakespeare connection.

It’s Byzantium Saffron by Merchant of Venice. Hope you enjoyed it!

My SOTD was Ruth Mastenbroek Amarosa (a mere spray as this has huge silage)

BluebellGal · 02/11/2017 18:33

Parallel sounds wonderful. If only I’d tried more 4160 samples in time for the 3 for 2 offer- what a deal!

Judydreamsofhorses · 02/11/2017 18:39

SOTD is Tauer Lonestar Memories, which was possibly responsible for the headache I have. God, I am so tired, have been sleeping terribly since we went back to work - thank goodness tomorrow’s Friday.

CountFosco · 02/11/2017 19:09

SotD is Doe in the Snow. I like it but can't really distinguish the notes except the Peach at the beginning and what I assume is the Oakmoss in the dry down. Otherwise it's just a lovely blend of stuff. Lasted ages as well. Really enjoying this taster set although simultaneously wanting to buy bigger bottles and try even more. Might need to get DH to give me a subscription for Christmas.

explodingkittens · 02/11/2017 19:14

I've resprayed L'air de rien. I'm in love with it. Funny how one's tastes change - or rather develop, I think, as this was one that I found distinctly odd on first wearing and now can't stop sniffing. I really want an FB but, crikey, it's expensive.

That list of sample websites is like catnip. I keep going back to it. Am just about to shell out a small fortune on my wreck of a car though, I fear, so spending may be curtailed I said that last month too

MrsPestilence · 02/11/2017 19:27

The 4160 three for two offer is valid on 9ml bottles (for anyone only wanting to part with £30 + p&p). Stop MrsM I am trying to ignore Parallel, and a couple of others.

Thanks Blue I did enjoy Byzantium Saffron by The Merchant of Venice. It was fine for work as well.

Count I find it difficult to break Doe in the Snow down to notes. Here's what it claims to have:

  • top notes: grapefruit, cedrat, yuzu, peach aldehyde, snow
  • heart notes: cedarwood, rose, jasmine, oak
  • base notes: opoponax, oakmoss, leather, green tea absolute

Hope the covering went well Kittens

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 02/11/2017 19:43

Eek. Mustn't go anywhere near 4160 Tuesdays with that sort of offer on. And I need to ignore the fantasy notino basket I put together at lunchtime...

SotD was Youth Dew - I see what you all mean it really does pack a punch. A giant wallop of soapy aldehydes for me but calms down quite quickly and then rather nice. (Yep - reading your excellent detective work on the blind scents and weighing in with "nice" Blush)

explodingkittens · 02/11/2017 20:00

I know I'm being really dense but how do I do the 3 for 2 4160s deal? I can't see a link.

God, I'm hopeless (didn't I just say ten mins ago that I wasn't going to spend??)

The covering went well, I think. I enjoyed myself, anyway, heavens knows what my students thought Grin. Shattered now though.

explodingkittens · 02/11/2017 20:03

Do I pick 2 and add my third choice in the 'anything you'd like us to know?' box at checkout?

MrsPestilence · 02/11/2017 20:10

OK Kittens, set your budget and stick to it.
Go to the $!^) site and decide what full size / full price products you want. Order the cheapest two in the normal manner. At checkout there is a box for comments. In there, put what free one you want.
ie choose two 30ml bottles and then choose a third 30ml for free.
You could have two x 30mls at £40 each and add £95 Goddess of Love & Perfume. Sarah's words
Check the Facebook page for more details.
There is also extra stuff in the naughty cupboard.

OP posts:
MrsPestilence · 02/11/2017 20:13

That's the one Kittens Grin Are you sticking to 9ml? Remember your car. Shock

OP posts:
explodingkittens · 02/11/2017 20:15

You're a star MrsP. I'm only ordering 9ml bottles, honest Wink

BluebellGal · 02/11/2017 20:37

Grin haha you lot make me laugh.

“I’m not ordering anything more until after Christmas”
Next day “Wait, what?! 4160 have a special offer on? Oh go on then, I’ll just get three teeny tiny bottles”.

I have told myself I am waiting for the gloss bottle to be delivered but I’m so tempted to order 3 9ml bottles cause it’s such a bargain !

MrsMacNally · 02/11/2017 21:26

Thank you Blue - that's the first MoV I've tried. Have been tempted by their DIY Kits (The Perfume Society sells). Has anyone tried?

Pest!!! I was stepping away until the 9mls were mentioned... Is it the 100mls in the damaged tins that are the new entries in the naughty cupboard?

Pest & Blue - are we playing tomorrow or are we having a rest day?

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 02/11/2017 21:29

I would guess you're allowed Eau My Soul as the freebie? Love the sound of it but too expensive to blind but.

Heaven 17 are ringing in my ears!!!

BluebellGal · 02/11/2017 21:40

mrsmac pest I’m happy to play tomorrow - did you say Pest C is loud? That sounds good - not many people in work tomorrow (plus quite fancy keeping people at bay tomorrow as I am swamped with work!)

MrsPestilence · 02/11/2017 21:51

Eau My Soul is the only thing excluded Sad Cheap

Yeah, Blue and MrsM, I get to choose my own perfume tomorrow. But, I should probably wear the same to get the notes at a similar time.

Judydreamsofhorses · 02/11/2017 21:54

kittens LDR is one of top favourites. I blind bought it about five years ago as it sounded right up my street, plus I love Jane Birkin. I must be on my fifth bottle. You used to be able to get a body cream to go with it which was lovely, but it’s been discontinued. I rarely repeat buy - 19 is the only other I absolutely always have, for years and years, and I think I may be on my second bottle of NRFH. (I bought that when we moved here as my “new house perfume”!
