Xmas Grin at Floof's thighs.

Thank you Bluebell - 20 more to go! (It is proving a good way of catching up with special editions in particular).

The day's verdict on MNND's is now in, and it's officially fab. Sadly they only have 100ml sized bottles in the Naughty Cupboard, which, after today's washing machine repair and last week's MOT advisory, is not heading my way anytime soon (unless some crazed ebayer decides to relieve me of all my slow to sell items in a single swoop) . But the point of the calendar is that I do now have my own sample which is definite progress Smile.

I had sort of pigeon-holded myrrh and opoponax as the less interesting sisters of Frankincense. Am having a (very seasonal) re-think.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 05/12/2017 19:31

Ah Fosco hope all went well and she enjoyed herself.

Floofy given the advent calendar loveliness the minifloofs sound like they will be brilliant at whatever circumstances you're all in. What a credit

ACAC was Orange Sanguine. Huuuuge blast of juicy orange that turned a bit powdery on me. Fragrantuca reviews seem split between those who just got Orange and then those who got Orange and soap. This is one that makes me feel quite happy with my skin chemistry! bit of an odd thing to find yourself saying!

MrsMacNally · 05/12/2017 20:29

*holed even Blush.

Might we talk about Xmas lists? My lovely, lovely family ask for ideas. Not so much full bottles, more books, sample sets, soaps etc.

What's on your list (real or fantasy!)?

CountFosco · 05/12/2017 20:34

The nativity was great, she was a Tango dancing Innkeeper in a Strictly style show. Lots of fun!

I also got a blast of orange with Orange Sanguine. Felt very Christmassy. The scores and comments on Fragrantica for AC don't quite add up I think. The comments are split between people who love the perfumes and those that say they don't last long enough and cost too much and smell like dupes of cheaper ones. Someone said today's scent Clementine California smelt like Clinique Happy. I can see what they mean but since my bottle of Happy is beginning to go off I can't really compare side by side. I'm now enjoying the midnotes again (they are very like the Happy) and I like that it seems to develop a bit more than some of the others.

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/12/2017 21:19

SOTD was Narciso Rodriguez For Her. I feel slightly better today after a hefty dose of “night time” cough mixture plus a glass of wine last night. Back to the dentist this afternoon where she opted not to treat me because I was so choked, and the tooth is right by my sinuses, so I have to go back in a fortnight. I’m scared that when she removes the filling I am going to need another bloody root canal and end up in limbo/pain over Christmas - she said if that’s the case she can do the first bit and leave me with a dressing until the second part can be completed, and thankfully they are only shut the public holidays.

floofy we have an advent calendar in the office so are counting down that way. We don’t break up until the 22nd this year, so late!

explodingkittens · 06/12/2017 07:37

Oh judy, you must be so fed up with it all Sad

count, love the sound of a tango-dancing innkeeper - have always thought the innkeeper pivotal to any nativity Grin

SOTD is Captured by Candlelight. It's our office Xmas do tonight, although unfortunately I am currently furious with a couple of colleagues for incompetent buck-passing which they're expecting me to clean up for them, so I'd better not have too much mulled wine tonight...

BluebellGal · 06/12/2017 11:09

SOTD is LADDM by Tauer. Very comforting on a very cold day!

Liberty Advent GOTD (gift of the day) is an Espa hair mud mask. Yesterday was a cleanser by a Hungarian brand I’ve neither heard of or can pronounce. Apparently they make a Queen of Hungary Face mist - which I mention because the fragrance formula is very old and classic (apparently). They are located on Andrassy Ut where I stayed when I visited Budapest last year - shame I bypassed the shop because this stuff is amazing!

explodingkittens · 06/12/2017 11:35

Is that Ozmorovica or something, bluebell? It's good stuff, have bought my SIL some for Xmas!

BluebellGal · 06/12/2017 12:55

Yes that’s it Kittens not a catchy brand name is it?!

BluebellGal · 06/12/2017 14:58

My daughter made a batch of vanilla cookies yesterday with grandma- I enjoyed one for lunch and can confirm that LADDM smells exactly like freshly baked vanilla cookies! It’s put me in a good mood Smile

Funny how my mum never let me in the kitchen as a child (too messy) now she’s baking cookies with a 2 year old Confused

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 06/12/2017 19:21

How yummy Bluebell! I read French Children Don't Throw Food when DS1 was 3 and foolishly got inspired by the yogurt cake recipe that French three year olds can make on their own. The carpet did not thank me...

SotD was ACAC Clementine California. This one came in a 7ml miniature rather than little dabber- although I suspect it may appear in a dabber later on in the month! Very nice light Orange smell and the longest lasting so far.

CountFosco · 06/12/2017 19:38

ACD SotD Grand Neroli. Has Galbanum in and smells very green along with the citrus, the least sweet so far. In fact it has a touch of bitterness that reminds me of pith. I'm putting some of these ACs on my bra now to make the scent last a bit longer.

Jealous of your 7ml Clementine California, Cheap.

MrsMacNally · 06/12/2017 20:39

Breathing problems back (trip to A&E today Sad)...so although Day 6 is....Our Modern Lives beta, I can't say very much about it other than it smells like a very pleasant airy musk, when super-cautiously sniffed for a millisecond. Hoping to resume normal service soon and report more fully. Can't wait to try layering this with this summer's A Bit of a Pickle (which could do with longer legs. There's stacks of hedione in aBoaP - have a feeling this would get along just fine with beta).

Judydreamsofhorses · 06/12/2017 22:20

Hope you’re okay, mrsM - we are a sickly bunch, aren’t we?

SOTD is L’Air de Rien. We got our Christmas tree today - I ordered it online and it is absolutely massive. The cat is v intrigued and has been extremely photogenic, currently winning Instagram.

explodingkittens · 07/12/2017 08:07

SOTD is La Fille de Berlin.

Is it the weekend yet? #knackered

FloofyCatIsComingToTown · 07/12/2017 08:13

Goodness MrsMac that is scary, I hope you are OK? Hopefully you are and normal perfume sniffing can resume Thanks Definitely a bit of Christmas list distraction is needed. I have a hankering for some vintage Obsession atm. No idea why! Nostalgia perhaps?

Are you feeling any better Judy? We break up late here too, the last of my lot are the 22nd too Xmas Angry and I have a big medical appt that day too so I feel like I can't relax fully until then. Counting down! Our tree is also up but, sadly, our cat provides no photogenic opportunities as she is scared of it, and every other unexpected decoration. She fell off the radiator yesterday from a seated position when a light flashed near her Xmas ShockXmas Grin

Oh count I miss the nativity play days! A dancing innkeeper, so cute :)

I'm very excited that SOTD is Lush Karma. This is a very December scent for me Perfume Rules you see

Hope everyone is not too poorly, and nicely scented, and not too windy for those of us oop North!

Ollivander84 · 07/12/2017 09:07

SOTD is perfume parlour Nivea

Calmwhoknows · 07/12/2017 09:14

Hello everyone! I’m back after a few weeks away in Australia and have enjoyed catching up with the thread. Commiserations on all the colds, bugs and teeth problems 🤧.

I took a few decants/miniatures of summery perfumes away with me - Annick Goutal Eau du Sud, PP’s Virgin Island Waters, PP’s Blackberry & Bay, PP’s Imperial Tea, Tuscany per Donna, Bottega Veneta Knot, Chanel Cristalle and Prada Infusion D’Iris. My favourites were the Eau du Sud and the Infusion D’Iris, which is such a quiet beauty I find myself reaching for it often, at all times of the year.

It’s been good to get back to some oomphy, strong winter perfumes and I have been enjoying my Tauers (Incense Rose and samples of L’Air Du Desert Marocain and Au Coeur Du Desert), Montale Intense Cafe, Chanel Cuir Cannage, Malle Portrait of a Lady and Madonna’s Truth Or Dare.

teta · 07/12/2017 10:07

Am wearing Wrappings for a interview in the catholic cathedral crypt ( not for me) - suitably churchy.
I’m also feeling wheezy ( cold wind) and I’ve forgotten my bloody inhaler yet again .

BluebellGal · 07/12/2017 10:55

Haha cheap that’s why I bake once my DD is in bed!

Sorry to hear about your breathing issues resurfacing mrsmac hope you get it back under control soon

Welcome back calm wondered where you’d gone! I too love Prada Infusions d’iris - one of my favourites (I have the whole Infusions series in miniature- it’s wonderful £30 from Perfume Society)

I’m in Ruth Mastenbroek Amarosa today - big bold and fruity- amazing sillage & longevity (best in my collection)

Liberty GOTD Matz e Goetz lip moisturiser- which is a basically a scentless lip balm (similar to that nipple lip stuff) not very impressed

EnormousDormouse · 07/12/2017 16:13

Good evening perfumistas! I am another person who is banned from buying fragrance... who has just bought the 5ml LADDM - thanks for the tip.
Also , I've seen SJP Stash! mentioned a few times. It's still at RRP in the UK but I have just managed to get a 100ml from Chemist Warehouse in Aus. for £17 (as opposed to £50 at Superdrug). Luckily a friend is visiting their family and is bringing it back for me.

explodingkittens · 07/12/2017 17:19

Hi dormouse, welcome! I really like SJP Stash too - sounds like you've got a bargain there. Isn't the 5ml LADDM just the loveliest thing? I keep taking it out of its little silver box and stroking it yes I'm a weirdo

Am home, ugly-pyjama'd-up and now in a squirt of Bodhi Language. This is fabulously woody but warm - just like one of those lovely inlaid wooden boxes - with an undertow of spicy-sweet which isn't quite fruit and isn't quite booze. I can't put my finger on it but it's addictive all the same. I'm very much liking 4160s now that I've stopped trying to love the citrussy ones!

CountFosco · 07/12/2017 18:11

Exhausted. Just got home after 11h at work. Can't even complain because one of my team was in a customer meeting for another project all morning, then had the afternoon off before he does a shift on my project from 5pm to midnight. DH has made a lovely casserole for tea though.

ACD SotD Bois Blonds. Lots of Neroli again but I'm incapable of more insight right now.

Judydreamsofhorses · 07/12/2017 20:52

SOTD is Heeley Cardinal.

floofy my cold is on its way out, thankfully. My stupid teeth are driving me nuts though. Urgh!

MrsPestilence · 08/12/2017 09:10

Morning sick people Grin forgot to do SotD yesterday and am feeling rough around the edges today. Will go for something warm and comforting when I get it together.

MrsM hope your breathing is ok today, slightly worried by no advent report yesterday.

Wow Calm that was a perfume fuelled trip, you forgot to mention if you had fun.

Cheap, Blue I once made pasta with three small toddlers. The kitchen resembled a snow globe. What ever made me think that was a good idea Confused

Morning Dormouse glad to see your perfume buying ban is as effective as the everyone else's Grin

Teta, Judy churchy scents come into their own in December. It has just gone dark again here. Quite depressing.

Kittens it is Friday, you can stagger through today.

Should have done a perfume advent am feeling slightly jealous. Will get some Tauers in January to compensate. Wink
