SOTD yesterday was E Coudray Iris Rose

Floofy your kids are adorable for making you an AC. mrsmac what a treat - a 4160 AC definitely on my shortlist for next year.

I’m impressed with my Liberty AC so far. It’s my first beauty AC and it’s a goodun. I’ve used the Aveda volumising spray and it works (need all the help I can get!) and the Dermologica superfolient has made my skin soft.

BluebellGal · 03/12/2017 08:54

CountFosco that sounds amazing- and mouthwatering! Will be interested to hear what the longevity is like for this one. You’ve inspired me to dig out a ACD sample for SOTD today- I’ll be back to report which one I choose

BluebellGal · 03/12/2017 12:56

SOTD Ambre extreme by L’Artisan Perfumer - I got mixed up with Atelier Cologne when rifling through sample box Blush will remedy tomorrow and wear an Atelier Cologne

explodingkittens · 03/12/2017 12:58

SOTD so far is SL Ambre Sultan. God, this is good.

However, a trip to TKMaxx this morning unearthed the last bottle in the shop of MH Terre d'Iris which I thought was probably too good to pass over. I also got Fleurs De Matin for a family member, honest Grin

explodingkittens · 03/12/2017 17:51

Very pleased with Terre d'Iris as a blind buy (phew!). Starts off with lots of citrussy woods, moves into a surprisingly punchy heart of green, rooty Iris and has now dried down to a lovely musky base with the iris still quite prominent. It's a definite success and I'll wear it again tomorrow, I think, because it's perfect for work.

explodingkittens · 03/12/2017 17:54

Has anyone ever tried Donna Karan Black Cashmere? I know it's been discontinued and bottles on eBay go for silly money. But I've become oddly obsessed with it, despite having never even sniffed it.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 03/12/2017 18:21

Well today ACAC and ACD are in perfect harmony - Pomelo Paradis here too. Really lovely clean fresh grapefruit on me but didn't last too long. A sneaky peak at the contents lists suggests a soap of this at some point so I wonder whether the soap and scent together will have better staying power. I hope so - just perfect for a crisp sunny Winter's day.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 03/12/2017 18:23

Oh a LF AC was exfoliating scrub for the scalp. Could be good but nervous about showers taking longer than they need to do - I try to be as quick as possible to avoid risk of 22mo waking up and kicking off while I can't do anything about it...!

MrsMacNally · 03/12/2017 20:22

Evening All! Day 3 of the 4160Tuesdays advent calendar is....alpha, from Our Modern Lives. Intrigued to try this as I couldn't afford to join the crowdfunding at Indiegogo earlier in the year. And, given recent chest problems, it's very interesting indeed to try something that's hypoallergenic.

MrsMacNally · 03/12/2017 20:32

I love Ambre Sultan EK.

Judydreamsofhorses · 03/12/2017 20:40

SOTD is Rive Gauche. Can’t believe how quickly the weekend has gone, and I am still full of bloody cold. Urgh.

BluebellGal · 03/12/2017 21:12

I’m pleased to report that the Ambre Extreme (L’Artisan) has good longevity on me and is a bit Tauer like. I’m getting grown up vanilla, sweet Moroccan spices, maybe some coffee or cacao. It’s rather lovely, a bit of an oriental gourmand

MrsMacNally · 03/12/2017 21:57

Bluebell - I like it too, although the ambergris taunts me a bit. Have you tried their original Ambre?

BluebellGal · 03/12/2017 23:14

I’ve not tried the original mrsmac but should seek some out. I didn’t realise this had ambergris in it- I’m a big fan of it (sudden realisation after sniffing the pure stuff at Somerset House). If I like ambergris what else might I like.

For any newbie perfumistas, ambergris is really old, regurgitated whale vomit. Yep, really Shock

MrsMacNally · 04/12/2017 00:25

Have you tried Eau My Soul, Bluebell? I'm very impressed with this amber...

CountFosco · 04/12/2017 06:22

Cheap it didn't last long here for me either but since it was a Sunday I just topped up regularly. Layering should work though, it was a gorgeous scent.

Today's ACD is Bergamote Soleil which I know gets a lot of love. Bergamot, jasmine and ambrette. Not put it on yet, I'm off to the pool and will put it on for work.

explodingkittens · 04/12/2017 07:18

That sounds lovely bluebell, love a good amber.

SOTD Terre d'Iris again. Although with all the manspreading that's happening from the guy next to me on this train, I'm starting to wish I'd worn something a bit more nuclear Hmm

JanetStWalker · 04/12/2017 08:54

Profumum Roma's, Ambra Aurea is knock your socks off good! It contains real ambergris I think, not many do these days.

In Chergui today, have a happy Monday fragrant folk. Xmas Grin

BluebellGal · 04/12/2017 10:56

Eau my soul (4160) has been on my ‘to try’ list after reading I Scent you a day’s glowing review. Your AC just gets better mrsmac

SOTD is Ormonde Jayne Tsarina

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/12/2017 11:25

SOTD is Feu Follet (at last!)

FloofyCatIsComingToTown · 04/12/2017 11:25

I'm seriously tempted to make more advent calendars for January, we are all enjoying it so much Smile I had love heart sweets this morning which is as good as perfume!

One of my DDs was giving me a lecture telling me about how the only acceptable ambergris is the one collected naturally from the ocean, or something, the other day. I have to be careful on so much food (and stocking filler sweets) etc as it is as she won't eat Haribo etc either, I'm damned if I have to be careful with my perfumes too!

Count the bergamot AC is my favourite, it's like a little reminder of Summer.

Kittens I detest manspreaders. Theo Fennel tomorrow maybe? You will have a little exclusion zone all around you Grin I haven't tried Black Cashmere but no doubt someone here has!

PIAM for your patchouli friend, what about Lush Karma to add to the (probably better and definitely more sophisticated Wink) suggestions? This is such a December perfume for me, I can't wait to dig it out and smell like the 90s.

I've just had a sniff of Opium as this is always my Christmas perfume, but since I was ill over last Christmas I seem to have gone off it Shock it just smells of smoke to me, and I've tried the original, and PP versions. I might have to substitute Shalimar unless anyone has any better Christmas ideas?

teta · 04/12/2017 11:32

Bluebell you’ve got me wanting to try the Tsarina now.It sounds so lovely.
Sotd is Nerolia Bianco plus a couple of sprays of Dilettante - just so it lasts. I’ve had a horrible feverish bug for the last few days and wanted some freshness and sunshine back. What better than sparkling, bitter green sugared orange with a dusting of golden pollen.
I hope everyone is better from their lurgies this week .... and Floofy you are recovering nicely.

BluebellGal · 04/12/2017 12:01

The Tsarina is wonderful teta I smell of luxury (even though I’m sat in a tracksuit working from home makeup less)

BluebellGal · 04/12/2017 15:04

Liberty Advent Calendar treat today was a Margaret Dobbs cuticle cream - I’m pleased cause I need to sort my nails out. Yesterday we received a beautiful Hourglass lipstick that I’m wearing today

Ways You Know You're A Perfume Obsessive (no. 1 in an occasional series)

When you collect your 'valued customer' freebie from the Dior counter and immediately remove the gifts to check out whether the box is suitable for storing perfume samples in (it was).

Grin there's clearly no hope
