Grin haha no hope for you Kittens (I did the same when justifying my Liberty AC splurge)

My darling daughter managed to find my (hidden) makeup bag and has poured my bottle of E Coudray Iris Rose all over the living room floor and cover herself in my new lipstick. It could have been so much worse and it smells so good in here now.

BluebellGal · 04/12/2017 19:19

^ and it’s a travel size perfume (20ml) was only a tenner on eBay. Can’t be annoyed with her as she’s too cute. When I showed her lipstick handiwork in a mirror, her response was simply “oh dear”

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 04/12/2017 19:20

I'd say no choice kittens - those samples need somewhere to live!

SotD was ACAC Rose Anonyme. Meh. Rose and the briefest hint of bergamot. Not a memorable one.

LF AC was a hydrating cream. Not tried on me yet but it's child friendly so popped a bit on DS2's dry patch on his leg. He seemed to like it...

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 04/12/2017 19:23

Ooh Bluebell has she inadvertantly stumbled accross a niche upmarket shake and bac type product? A true perfumista's daughter!

Thank goodness it wasn't the lipstick all over the floor!!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 04/12/2017 19:33

Kittens, but what did the valued customer buy? I love Dior products, as far as make up goes, I think Dior beat Chanel except maybe for foundation when they are pretty much on a par.

I am still boringly switching between Tauers and Opium.

As I should be paid soon for the first time since August (!!!!!!) I am going to treat myself to a FB of Tauer. I keep thinking my favourite is Lonestar Memories, then, like last night I put on LADDM and I think it's that, and I know as soon as I unearth my sample of Au coeur du desert it will be that...

Meanwhile I have been having retro baths...Morny Sandalwood the other night and a Boots Blue Fern bath cube last night. Moonwind talc to follow. I have become my 1970s self in the evening. Grin

Thanks for all the patchouli suggestions, have passed them on.

explodingkittens · 04/12/2017 20:06

Oh no Bluebell - wasn't that one of your favourites? How funny though, dd sounds like a sweetie.

I didn't actually even have to buy anything PIAM - it was just a mailing list offer that came through the post the other day. Not bad actually - little purse-size versions of Diorshow Iconic (which is my mascara anyway, so bit of a result there), eyelash primer Hmm, a weeny lipgloss and a nail varnish. I'm a bit of a sucker for Dior makeup too, and have bought several bits and bobs over the years, but it just goes to show that it's sometimes worth signing up to mailing lists for brands you do really like.

The lovely white 'Dior'-embossed box with magnetised lid was the best bit though. My favourite autumn/winter samples are so, so happy in their new home Grin

explodingkittens · 04/12/2017 20:10

The offer came through the post the other day, not the box of freebies. I did have to put some effort in and collect that myself Grin

MrsMacNally · 04/12/2017 20:41

4160s Day 4 scent is......Rhubarb and Citrus Cologne. Delicate and tangy - this is good enough to inspire a January trip to the Hepworth Gallery. (A pretext to enable me to wear it out during the 'forced' season in Yorkshire's rhubarb triangle).

MrsPestilence · 04/12/2017 20:47

Oh Blue your house will smell lovely for days Confused

SotD is Gunpowder Rose, may have to go FB on this eventually.

The Island was windy but not as cold as here. Lovely dinner with 70 of DH's close family members (couldn't invite them all) Shock It is so nice and quiet to be back home.

I have caved and gone FB on the most money I've spent ever on perfume BlushGrin
Imaginary authors - falling into the sea

Judydreamsofhorses · 04/12/2017 21:28

SOTD was MMM Fireplace. Still miserable with cold and thoroughly fed up.

explodingkittens · 05/12/2017 08:27

Morning all. Sorry to hear you're still suffering with the cold judy - this virus seems to hang around for a while, horrible.

Some lovely-sounding scents yesterday. I love those Imaginary Authors bottles, they're so unique, although haven't had much luck with the two perfumes I've tried so far from them. The notes for FITS sound great though!

I'm being dull and sticking with my warming winter 'fumes. SOTD is Another Kiss by the Fireside. Just love the smoky, cinnamony-lavender of this. It really reminds me of an old school-friend's kitchen - big scrubbed-pine table, homemade biscuits, washing hanging from those overhead airers and bunches of lavender picked from the garden, a radio 4 play always crackling in the background, cats and dogs curled up by the radiator. No fireplace sadly, but you can't have everything!

boldlygoingsomewhere · 05/12/2017 08:35

PIAM, I have a real fondness for the 70s scents - how lovely that you can immerse yourself that way.

I can't quite bring myself to slather myself in White Musk to recapture my early/mid teens. Grin

SOTD is captured by Candlelight - not sure what made me reach for it this morning...

JanetStWalker · 05/12/2017 08:36

Chanel Cuir de Russie today for confidence and general kickarsedness.

Congrats on your new acquisition, Ollivander, welcome to the slippery slope! How's that for a mixed metaphor. Xmas Grin

Ollivander84 · 05/12/2017 08:44

I've also purchased avobath and Nivea from perfume parlour. My slippery slope was already there but my tastes now tend towards the ££££ stuff
Like slumberhouse Sadanne - want! GrinBlush

JanetStWalker · 05/12/2017 08:47

It'll be Roja Dove and Clive Christian next week! Xmas Grin

Ollivander84 · 05/12/2017 09:16

SOTD is 4160 Tuesdays custard. I like this for an easy to wear vanilla

MrsMacNally · 05/12/2017 09:36

Morning All - very pleased to discover that day 5 of the 4160's calendar is.....Mother Nature's Naughty Daughters. This is another one of theirs I've sniffed on paper and liked a lot. But now I come to try on my skin, I really love it. It's a bit like a cousin to Who Knew? It has a gorgeous rose note, sweetened with fruit (including strawberry), and with a very honeyed myrrh (bit of a nod here to Dirty Honey). It's got a bit of that vibrato moss thing going on in the opening. (Think this features in several of their woodier perfumes to various degrees?). Too soon to tell you much more...I bought some in the recent sale for my Sister's stocking. Will be wrestling with myself between now and the 25th as to whether I can bear to hand it over! Very nice to have the 2ml though Smile.

MrsPestilence · 05/12/2017 09:51

SotD is Ideo's London to Mumbai, exotic barber shop.

It'll be Roja Dove and Clive Christian next week! Xmas Grin

It's amazing how that "gateway" thing turns up so often on here, isn't it? Grin Olli does the FITS feel ok in Winter? I'm guessing so if you've just bought a FB! I'm tempted by a sample but it just looks so...summery. Isn't it like wearing, say, Virgin Island Water in December - I just don't think I could! I'm quite fond of rules (in the manner that Sheldon from BBT is quite fond of rules Smile) and things like this feel wrong!

I'm absolutely living vicariously through these advent calendars (I might have rubbed my thighs in Vic Reeves style a little at the 4160s MNND!)

PIAM I am I totally imagining you wafting round in a kaftan in the evenings, pushing a hostess trolley, smelling gorgeous of course! Those little bath cubes look so cute, I am sure there was a doll, or something equally creepy, filled with bath salts in my mother's bathroom?!

Judy how crap your lurgy is lingering and that you are fed up, I'm not surprised. Can you start crossing off the calendar days until Christmas break up? Our Christmas will be a lot more...skint austere than previous years and I've spent ages doing sums and worrying but have recently just thought fuck it oh well,at least we are all here and the DC are old enough to understand (which kind of makes it worse tbh) so now I'm just looking forward to the break from school and being able to lie in of a morning! Only a few weeks to go Smile

FloofyCatIsComingToTown · 05/12/2017 10:17

Hmmm I've just read my post back and that's a pretty poor attempt at cheering someone up Judy, I've basically just reminded everyone how expensive and stressful Christmas can be Blushand then had a self pity party - it didn't come across quite as I intended! I do hope Christmas is a good relaxing break for you and that you (and everyone!) are looking forward to it.

I shall go and flagellate myself by wearing a Summer Perfume, or something...

Ollivander84 · 05/12/2017 10:18

I just love it! I know what you mean though. Weirdly 4160 Shazam reminds me of Christmas Confused so I can't wear that in summer

explodingkittens · 05/12/2017 10:47

Oh, I totally agree about the Perfume Rules floofy. The thought of wearing something non-smoky/incensey/boozy/ambery just feels Wrong in December. Completely ridiculous of course, as a lovely smell is a lovely smell any time of the year, but I just can't keep away from the Warm Cozies right now Grin

BluebellGal · 05/12/2017 10:59

SOTD Noix de Tubereuse by Miller Harris. Loving this one today

My hubby has been wearing a Clive Christian sample- it’s so amazing, makes me go weak at the knees Blush

Came down this morning to a beautifully scented living room (yes Kittens it is one of my favourites!) what a little darling. She’s only 2 but she is a perfumista in the making. When I caught her she was spraying / smelling her wrist Xmas Shock

mrsmac your 4160 AC reviews are my favourites out of all the AC reviews on mumsnet - please keep them coming

CountFosco · 05/12/2017 17:43

ACD SotD Clementine California. Today and yesterday's Bergamote Soleil have seemed a bit more sophisticated than the first few days (touch of spice and wood in them and what felt like a random blast of lavender yesterday) but they're not lasting much beyond lunchtime. I'm generally preferring the orangier citruses rather than the lemony ones but I think that's seasonal and the citron and bergamot will come into their own in the summer.

Anyway I'm topping up before I go out to DD's nativity. She's an innkeeper.
