Question: if you are over 35, would you wear a bikini like this?

Dh has given me this itsy bitsy bikini. and expects me to wear it in public (when we go on holiday). I am wondering whether I can pluck up the courage.

Dh seems to have overlooked the fact that I am not a tanned 21-year-old Australian model with a Brazilian wax: I am actually a pale-skinned 36-year old and only 5ft 2, with a Caesarean scar. Size 8/10 but nevertheless have a few wobbly bits.

I am very flattered that dh thinks I look good in it, but it is ridiculously skimpy.

So, what would you do? Should I just get into the holiday spirit, wear it and flaunt it, or will I look ridiculous?

(Dds are 2 and 4 so I won't exactly be lounging by the pool on this holiday; I'll be chasing round after them.)

US $30m. I think it has jewels on it. It does't look good. I followed all those links requirements and it stll didn't come out as a link.

yes that is a good point - why do all the girls on that site have no hair down there at all? it's a bit paedophilic IMO.

Blondilocks · 15/04/2007 00:10

I could see the advantages in having no hair there... although it is a PITA to keep it like that from what I've heard.

hunkermunker · 15/04/2007 00:24

Blondilocks, I think it's a PITFanjo to keep it like that, actually

jampot · 15/04/2007 00:27

this is hilarious

but have you seen what looks like Natasha's shlong

twinsetandpearls · 15/04/2007 00:30

whatis a shlong?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/04/2007 00:35

Its a slang term for penis down our way

twinsetandpearls · 15/04/2007 00:36

that was prtty much my reaction anniemac...

I feel the same too which is why it's an interesting discussion to see the widely different views. In fact some men are inthe burkha school of thought that their woman shows nothing and is locked away for only him to see and others at the opposite extreme of wanting to show her off. People just differ.

do they do it on a more generous size say 24? Would consider if they do

Judy1234 · 15/04/2007 11:10

I suppose people just have different views on what is sexy and what is appropriate. Why wear a bikini unless to look sexy? You might as well wear a swim suit with a capacious sarong. I suppose if you ignore the sex bits a bikini takes less time to dry and more of your body gets brown.

erm.. i wore a bikini, and nowt but a thong at that, to get an all over tan. had bugger all to do with looking sexy on the beach (though i did) was about not having poxy tan lines in awkward places.

and those boden ones are not sexless, how can they be?? thats a daft argument.

the wicked weasel ones are v overtly sexual, and thats fine. this country on the whole tends to be v reserved about stuff like that so its no big surprise people would rather save it for the bedroom. but as a few people have pointed out, its about context: a beach in brazil or ibiza, prob no-one would bat an eyelid. Rhyll however, youd probably be catching evil stares from women and letcherous ones from men all day. if youre fine and confident enough to cope with that, then go ahead.

id personally feel a bit daft running after littluns with it on, but as the op says, if shes on a lounger all day looking hot stuff then fair play to her!

Judy1234 · 15/04/2007 11:28

True.
My view on the boden ones is just a personal view. I think floral patterns are never sexy and secondly when there are bits hanging off at the sides that tends to spoil a smooth line so doesn't look as good.
