Question: if you are over 35, would you wear a bikini like this?

Dh has given me this itsy bitsy bikini. and expects me to wear it in public (when we go on holiday). I am wondering whether I can pluck up the courage.

Dh seems to have overlooked the fact that I am not a tanned 21-year-old Australian model with a Brazilian wax: I am actually a pale-skinned 36-year old and only 5ft 2, with a Caesarean scar. Size 8/10 but nevertheless have a few wobbly bits.

I am very flattered that dh thinks I look good in it, but it is ridiculously skimpy.

So, what would you do? Should I just get into the holiday spirit, wear it and flaunt it, or will I look ridiculous?

(Dds are 2 and 4 so I won't exactly be lounging by the pool on this holiday; I'll be chasing round after them.)

I think the Boden one is nice too. I don't think it's sexless at all. My dh would like it I'm sure!!

So wearing hardly anything at all and leaving almost nothing to the imagination is very sexy. Wearing nothing a tall is just bing natural.

I looked at that link and it just confirms boden bikinis not sexy.

I suppose you have to get at the issue of why you're wearing a bikini, why instead you might wear a swim suit and why you might not like the Muslims we were swimming with in the summer instead wear long sleeves and long trousers in the water. Where do you draw your personal lines?

People seem to be saying nude is fine on a nudist beach but anything that tries to make you look sexy particularly if the aim is to please a husband (God forbid anyone on mumsnet might have that aim) is out.

Xenia - women looking after small children whilst wearing a thong bikini might end up looking a teensy bit daft IMHO. They can please their husbands in the evening with a nice sexy number and wear a beatiful Boden one round the pool or on the beach .

Incidentally I wouldn't have worn it on the beach at 18 when I was a size 8 lapdancer either !!!!

I don't think that Boden bikini is so differnt to the OP, just a much more attractive model, and obviously a better quality bikini.

The bottoms are VASTLY different on the Boden one. They are still skimpy but they are NOT a thong and they have much more fabric at the front too.

Actually, you're right a few cm of fabric can be vital. I really like all the Boden bikinis, they look georgous on the models, really wish I had the bod to wear one

the sites pretty overtly sexual in an obvious porn-y sort of way. i can see why poeple think its sleazy.
the bikini itself isnt that bad - what a prudish lot you all are!
ive worn bottoms like that, ok, most coving my fanjo a little better, but almost always topless - back when i had a body for it and my friends and flatmates werent english... i forget what a prudish lot the brits are...lol
i wouldnt waer it anymore, even if i did get the body again. i think it sends out messages i dont want to transmit.

this thread is a good indication of the negative reaction you are likely to get wearing it on a family holiday though... personally couldnt be bothered with that.

interestring to see even the x lapdancers amongst us dont like it!

I wear thong bikinis because I live in Italy and everyone wears them (except British and US tourists). Def would not wear that one though as it's much too tiny, and would be amazed if dh wanted me to go out in public in it anyway.

That Boden one's quite nice - I usually hate their stuff.

I don't like the boden one as I don't like stripes!

My bottoms are all pretty teeny (so I thought!) I do like tie-sided bikini bottoms but don't like the triangle tops they come with which is a pain!
