Finished the Vaseline Body lotion - hopefully end the L'occitan shower gel this weekend!!

Strawberryfield12 · 20/10/2017 10:37

Well, I think I have given up on trying to switch over to natural deodorant today. Last night I was going on holidays, Stansted was busy and hot, my toddlers Boden dress beeped with security, so we got hand searched each, I was scanned plus they took some tests from DD clothes. I had to carry DD, two coats and a backpack for the most of the way to the gate because she kept stopping at every poster. I can’t even describe how much I stank arriving on destination. And I had used “the award winning, the only properly working bladybladybla” natural deodorant by Aurelia which cost around £20. This morning have used Sure roll on I bought for £1 and I am like a different person. I will use up the dregs of the natural ones on low key days and will go back to not so natural deodorants. I switched in April, have tried about 4-5 different ones. Some worked better, some worse, but it has felt like a gamble every day to get through the tube rush hour.

Other than that I am away for 10 days, loaded with travel sizes, so hopefully should have loads of empties by the end of next week.

Strawberryfield12 · 20/10/2017 10:40

Talking about deodorants, I remembered your mouldy natural deodorant Kwik Grin

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 20/10/2017 11:26

Hi guys
Been away for a while but love catching up especially the reviews. I've finished a Body Shop bouncy night mask product: loved it at first but less impressed as time has gone on.
Eye cream nearly finished: HA one from Amazon as recommended on here. Hmmmm not brill so won't even look for name kwick.
Nearly finished eyeshadow from a full face palette from Superdrug. Rest of eyeshadow is too sparkly for me so will bin it as already finished eyebrow product and lip gloss. Not sure why I bought it as more suited to teen but on its way out!

Also went a bit overboard in m&s with autograph sale. Got 3 eyeshadow sticks, a mini lipstick set and full size lipstick for under £10. All really great except one very sparkly lipstick which I will pass onto a teen near me! Eek. Just needed a pick me up and they hit the spot.
But am aiming for no-spend November as I've been overpaid and they need to recoup the 20% overpayment in 1 month. Eek.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 20/10/2017 11:33

Oops forgot my glossier review!
Balm.com: nice lip gloss/balm and using a lot but nothing ground breaking. Mine is mint and nicely tingly.
Boybrow: awesome. Really rate this as a best ever although I've not tried many.
Lipstick: great tint that my mum complimented me on. Would try another shade too.
Concealer: good but not sure i'd buy again as like an applicator for targeting spots and this is wee pot. Also did sits in fine lines by end of day and my Kiko one doesn't.
Jelly cleanser: nice. Expected to love this but not sure if a winner yet. No break-outs but very similar to lrp toleriane one so don't know if I'd buy again.
Priming moisturiser: not moisturing enough for me but make up sat nicely on it especially the ordinary serum foundation which I'm really loving.

Phew. This is not spirit of thread to be recommending more. Sorry!

kwick · 20/10/2017 18:41

strawberry so sorry you had a stinky experience- I have kind of given up on them too - I sweat too much!!! Enjoy your hols!!

Managed to sign out of here a couple of days ago and had a nightmare signing back in! I have some empties....

From 13....Sanctuary Glacial Body Scrub which I wouldn't recommend, it's a very odd texture and isn't easy to use on wet or dry skin, so glad to see the back of it.
Elemis body cream.....nice, but having decided body lotion is a functional product for me I won't repurchase.

New for my 25......Body Shop 60ml black musk shower gel, and same size Ginger shampoo and I also used up a random John Frieda frizz ease conditioner of DDs the other day (I like this stuff!).

I am going to have a No Spend November. I have already ordered the breast cancer beauty bag thingy from qvc, and am going to get the Tili advent calendar but not the M&S one. Apart from that, no beauty spends for me in November.

Having said that I'd like to ask advice from your collective wisdom. My skin is crap....it is sensitive, not oily but spot/blackhead prone, a bit flaky and generally 'meh'
Can anyone suggest any products/routine that you've used and would recommend please? You won't be enabling, just helping!

kwick · 21/10/2017 07:29

bunny not sure how much good advice I can give (especially as over the last 6 months or so I have developed small red bumps around nose), but anyhoo, here goes:
-Cleansing for my skin is key. I generally switch it up each day but two products I go back to time and again: coconut oil for initial cleanse and then Superdrug Naturally Radiant hot cloth cleanser

  • I usually use the Biore blackhead strips once a month and I try to use a hydrating mask once a week - in that pampering routine I will through in an exfoliant (I love the Korres wild rose one thatvyou leave on for about 10 mins).
  • I generally apply a serum in my am routine before moisturising and at night I am currently using the M&S formula absolute sleep one and I love it!
  • can’t advise on eye creams - still hoping to get advice!!!

The advent gift today was FANTASTIC!!!!

Hi everyone!

I have two more empties, so up to five already!

  • Korres Pear Bergamot shower gel
  • BioEffect EGF Serum (sample).

kwick No eye cream left in your stash! Panic! The one I always come back to is Elemis Pro Intense Eye and Lip Contour Cream. When I stop using it, tiny lines appear and when I restart then disappear. Not sure how it is for puffiness though. It is $$$ but the bottle lasts about 6 months if you dispense it carefully - it's a pump which annoyingly dispenses far more than you need.

I can't remember who reviewed the Glossier stuff (previous page - sorry!) but thank you! I'm tempted to put in an order as there are plenty of discount codes around at the moment. I am convinced I need the Boy Brow in my life as everyone is raving about it.

tiredbunny How about adding in an acid, glycolic is good for skin prone to breakouts. Something like the Pixi one. Maybe start at night just every 3 days and see how you get on.

IPokeBadgers · 21/10/2017 16:48

Hey all! Another empty; Una Brennan Superfacialist rose hydrating face mask. Had been in the bathroom for yonks so slithered it on, cut it open and used the dregs right down my neck. Honestly don't think I will buy anymore face masks, I haven't really found any (certainly not at the cheaper end of the market) that I think do anything. I use a couple of times and then they languish untouched for months 😞

IPokeBadgers · 21/10/2017 16:48

Slathered not slithered!!

d270r0 · 21/10/2017 20:11

I have a very boring empty- a dove deoderant stick. Same one I always use and have another waiting ready so not sure it really counts! I have considered trying natural deoderants but having heard your reports and having done some research I think I will not bother. I do have one I got in a pink parcel hideen somewhere I think so will probably try that at some point but deoderant is just one of those things I will not compromise on! I hate sweating.

Kwick this is the Chirp hair mask I tried. It was nice and did make my hair feel very soft but then a few days on and the benefits had gone so don't think I'd get it again at roughly £2 a go. It was nice to use though and I liked the smell.

d270r0 · 21/10/2017 20:14

About £4 a go not £2 per go!

OutToGetYou · 21/10/2017 22:48

I've used this hair mask today, I've had it ages and it is in my 25. I assumed using it would use it up, but my hair is only mid length so I've only managed to use half.

Feels quite nice since and it's good and cheap.

Mind you, I had a free 'protein' treatment at the hairdresser Thursday so that might have helped too.

Dove Therapy Intensive Repair Warming Mask

I have used something up, another single use item - a fake-footner. Again, had for ages.

OutToGetYou · 21/10/2017 22:49

Sorry, it wouldn't let me post a link, no idea why not, but if you search that on Amazon you'll find it.

mintmagnummm · 22/10/2017 08:16

I'm still really struggling with finding a shampoo and conditioner I love! Sad

curragh · 22/10/2017 08:17

Two empties this week - one from my Halloween list and one from the Xmas 12
59. No. 7 cleansing balm. I used this as a HC cleanser & liked it but won't repurchase til I have used up the cleanser stash
60. Clarins body exfoliator, sample size

I don't count items like toothpaste or deodorant as I don't hoard them but everyone on the thread has their own approach Smile

curragh · 22/10/2017 08:27

Mint what's you hair type? What have you tried already?

I'm forever trying new shampoo and conditioner....

d270r0 · 22/10/2017 11:56

I have an empty. It seems to have taken forever to use up- Champneys day cram with spf 15 40ml. Will move onto a Simple day cream with spf30 50ml. I hope I like this as I have another 2 of them in the stash!

woodhill · 22/10/2017 12:14

4 empties this week

Emma Bridgewater wallflowers shower gel 200 ml really lovely

Balance me rose body cream

Hair serum trial size

Full size coconut shampoo

plumstone · 22/10/2017 12:59

I have just made 5 veggie bowl boxes for lunch this week, each with either salmon or grilled chicken - so thats lunch sorted! Pretty good weekend so far except for the cinema, medium salted popcorn as afternoon snack - should have been a banana - ah well, move on!!!!

mintmagnummm · 22/10/2017 18:01

Curragh don't get me started on my hair lol! It's coloured, damaged, dehydrated but I have to wash daily as I have scalp issues that flare up if not washed daily! I've tried almost everything on the market! Some have been truely awful others been ok for a while and then either flare my scalp up or make my hair feel coated. I don't tend to get on with sls free/natural ones although never say never! Grin

kwick · 22/10/2017 20:30

Wow plum I am well impressed! I have just made soup for the week - but all the same flavour!!!

I have hair issues too and am forever seeking a HG hair product. I have oily roots and dry ends. Wash my hair daily.

...I may have just had a bit of a splurge on Avon but I did need an eye cream.... also bought Organic Shop shampoo, conditioner and shower gel earlier at Yoga show...

The “Melody-Claire” hair removal kit I bought yesterday at the show actually works!!! Shock I quickly and painlessly removed the hair from my legs and face in a jiffy this morning. So good as for £20 I got enough to last me 2 years - although I may give one kit to my SIL

I'm powering through things since joining this thread! It means spending about 20 min in the bathroom before bed slathering things on though! Smile

  1. Elemis Jasmine & Rose handcream 30ml. I really like this, leaves hands nice and soft but sinks right in - I hate sticky hands! Would buy it again in about 28 years when I've finished all the handcream in the house.
  1. Ouai Hair Treatment. Last sachet in a box of 4 I think.

The dilemma of the week - should I treat myself to the Liberty calendar when it goes on sale this week? Then I would commit to not spending anything for the rest of the year except maybe a Glossier order.
