Verty Boham and the hyacinth has been banished already. Now, safely draped in wafts of Cardinal (the Heeley incense) and feeling much better. How similar is Cardinal to Avignon? Has anyone (Judy) tried both? I prefer CdG prices to James Heeley's.

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/10/2017 10:57

SOTD is Quartz by Molyneux. Light, citrusy, 70s. Not very autumnal, but wanted something that wasn't going to overwhelm.

Judydreamsofhorses · 23/10/2017 12:17

How did you get on, mrsm? OC,I swear, I take such good care of my teeth, and had masses of orthodontic work as a kid, so they look really nice. My recent clenching habit has not served me well, and the worst thing is that I feel resentful of DP, because it is just stress. Urgh.

BluebellGal · 23/10/2017 13:34

SOTD Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 (again!)

BluebellGal · 23/10/2017 13:39

Sympathies with the teeth ladies - I have a feeling I’m on borrowed time with mine (and I’m still quite young). I’ve been diagnosed with teeth grinding, didn’t believe the dentist but when I wear the mouth guard (admittedly not often) my jaw has less tension next morning. I think it’s a combo of having a toddler and full time management job but I love both so just try to manage best I can but think my teeth are going to pay the price!

BluebellGal · 23/10/2017 13:41

^ obviously I love my toddler, I meant I love the role of mum equal to career! But the stress and tension of managing it all can get on top of me!

BluebellGal · 23/10/2017 13:46

Just realised Baccarat Rouge has Jasmine in it thanks to Fragrantica but I can’t smell it and the perfume smells more like a French strawberry patisserie cake rather than a poohy nappy.

Judydreamsofhorses · 23/10/2017 13:56

bluebell wear the guard! My dentist suggested it back when I cracked that filling in April, which was the gateway to dental hell, but I didn’t get it until July. I wonder if I could have avoided some of this if I’d got it earlier. My jaw’s now properly aligned again which is something.

OCSockOrphanage · 23/10/2017 14:25

Stress is apparently a major contributor to dental damage, but let us hope that the interview season will result in a flurry of job offers and big sighs of relief.

Loved Quartz, MrsS. One of my NY summer favorites, bought in Duane Reade. Happy memories, at least some of them!

explodingkittens · 23/10/2017 16:09

OC, I've tried both Cardinal and Avignon - they are very, very similar to my (completely inexpert) nose. So similar that I wouldn't ever bother investing in the Heeley when the CdG exists, despite my love of all things incensey. I'm sure a proper Perfumista could tell you all the ways they're different, though Grin

SOTD is Aromatics in White again. Unfortunately it doesn't last long, so after a long swim and sunbathe this afternoon I've come back, showered and slathered on the body lotion as well in a bid to get a bit of actual sillage/longevity. It is lovely though.

Sorry to hear about multiple teeth woes. Sometimes I think my grandparents' generation had it right - whip 'em all out early and invest in decent dentures!

MrsMacNally · 23/10/2017 18:27

Oh Judy - the tooth below is fractured, so no easy answers today. Yes, grinding is implicated here too. Going back next week for proper assessment. Might not be good news for the Coromandel split Sad

Think we need a blacked-out teeth emoji...

boldlygoingsomewhere · 23/10/2017 18:54

I'm another one with teeth issues brought about by nighttime tooth grinding. I have to wear a mouth guard and on bad occasions, it gives me a migraine too.

Hope it all gets sorted soon, MrsMac. On a positive note the Geminesse arrived. I sprayed a bit on my wrist and I really like this - warm, woody, slightly leathery with a floral edge. Very evocative of its era too. Smile

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 23/10/2017 19:14

What a lot of us in the tooth- woe section of the Venn diagram Sad Have my first shared appointment with the DC on Friday so hoping she doesn't have to give any bad news in front of them...

SOTD was the vintage Y. Was nice but like the L'Aimant quite short lived. If I need scenty-support in any future meetings I'll need something with a bit more staying power!

SwedishEdith · 23/10/2017 19:36

I'm toying with Anges at Demons Le Secret. I've sprayed and sniffed it two days running now. Very nice but not sure about its staying power. Also tried Si for the first time today - I'm tempted to ask for this for Xmas.

Loving the eyebrows Grin

BluebellGal · 23/10/2017 22:09

Hehe mrspes that is awesome - bad tooth, insta brows and a cloud of perfume just about sums me up in 2017. So you think we can convince MN to add it to the formal emoji list?

BluebellGal · 23/10/2017 22:10

Mrspes??? I thought I had written mrsmacnally

Judydreamsofhorses · 23/10/2017 22:13

SOTD is MMM Fireplace for tapas with a friend. Oh no, mrsm, I really hope they can sort you out. Where is the tooth?

Also on the Venn diagram, cats. Mine went out about an hour ago and won’t come in, which is v annoying. Her roaming is generally the garden either side and the one behind, but I think she is two down and I am scared she is stuck. She’s a very chatty cat, so when I call her she “shouts” back, but usually she comes straight in to her name. I made DP go out and look from next door but he can’t see her - she’s pure white so very visible even in the dark. Should I be worried? She got where she is so presumably she can get back?

BluebellGal · 23/10/2017 22:19

Judy I’m wearing the guard tonight! Thanks for the virtual kick up the bum I need.

I’m still getting luscious wafts of Baccarat Rouge and I spray 3 times at 6:20am. Yes it’s sweet but not cloying. I find it so beautiful - must be the ambergris which I smelt isolated at SH (and the fact that Francis K is a master of scent!)

Judydreamsofhorses · 23/10/2017 22:54

Good gal, bluebell. I can’t sleep without mine now.

Cat is back, after some detective work and a bit of trespassing on my part. She must have walked over our and next door’s outhouses (fancy brick shed things) and was stuck in the house down’s yard bit - to get to their garden where she could have got back she’d have to go through their locked wash-house (these are old granite properties with kind of odd features). DP had to go out the front and round to collect her, while she howled up at me in a most alarming way. No idea what she was up to as she is actually black.

BluebellGal · 23/10/2017 23:03

Glad to hear you’re puddy cat has returned home Judy, know how stressful it can be when you can’t get them in at night.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 24/10/2017 08:10

Love the emoji...I'm in the tooth Venn too. Veneers on the two front ones after a year on antibiotics during last year of university waiting for tonsils to come out. Really should get crowns but, y'know, £££ + perfume etc. No eyebrows though. Am blonde and look like I don't have any. Think Boris Becker meets Linda McCartney. Hmm. Have finally got eyelashes though after finding the Holy Grail of mascara this summer!

I am in PP Opium again and think this may become a top 10 for the autumn/winter. On a scientific sample of 2, PP do YSL well. Both the Rive Gauche and the Opium are magnificent.

YouAndYourFloofyCatNose · 24/10/2017 09:07

So the majority of us have extremely needy and high maintenance cats, teeth, eyebrows and perfume habits Grin

I have alopecia eyebrows so am quite grateful for the DCs attacking me with gels/powders/teeny brushes/mascara type things/pencils/little templates. It takes ages and it makes me laugh that after all that, they look as they though have been drawn on by a Berol felt tip in two minutes Grin

PP Opium is magnificent, I agree, an excellent likeness. I think my PP top three are Opium, Karma (I know I know but I love it) which is also an excellent likeness, and their Paloma Picasso which isn’t actually that close of a copy (IMHO) but smells lovely, if a bit sweeter, and I actually wear it more than than (non vintage) Paloma Blush

Flowers for all dentist related woes, I shall look on the bright side that as I haven’t slept more than two hours in a row for the last two weeks, at least I haven’t been unknowingly grinding my teeth.

I may have inadvertently ordered a sample of Rose d’Arabie (as it sounded so lush up thread) and Perfume Parlour JM Velvet Rose and Oud thing.

explodingkittens · 24/10/2017 12:33

My two needy cats are currently being cared for by a new cat sitter who is frankly not up to the standard of our previous one, who would send us several photos a day of the cats in various Bergmanesque poses, and detailed descriptions of exactly how many snuggles she had given them. Bless her Grin

Am in Ealing Green, which is fresh and sharp and perfect for sunny, warm weather. Am utterly relaxed and it is entirely possible I may not come home!
