If you are an up to date person, there is a feck off big hint on the facebook group. I think a little announcement earlier would have helped. (New job is not taxing my brain)

SOTD is Mitsouko. One last day at work and then a week off - this feels like such a long term, but it's nothing compared from Christmas - Easter which is about ten weeks with no half-term here.

Gingernaut · 19/10/2017 21:52

New advent calendar from 4160 is £75

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/10/2017 21:53

Oh, and I know you're all dying for an update on my teeth. RCT booked for 3rd November. I have an appointment next week which is too short to do it, so unless the tooth is bad then I will cancel on the day and the dentust's put a note on my file that I won't be charged.

MrsPestilence · 19/10/2017 22:06

Sadly Judy we are all desperate for an update on your teeth. We know that, there but by the grace of god, goes all of us. Men get a better deal on teeth Hope it does all get sorted soon. Flowers

MrsPestilence · 19/10/2017 22:35

30ml advent calendar is £750 for 750ml

MrsMacNally · 19/10/2017 22:47

Yes, that is the advent calendar of my dreams. Smile Can you imagine: opening a new 30 ml bottle every day!

MrsPestilence · 19/10/2017 22:50

I'd be rather over whelmed, 9ml a day would be ok

MrsMacNally · 19/10/2017 23:25

Think I'm going to number up by 9mls and do just that. Grin.

BluebellGal · 20/10/2017 07:41

Been through duty free now waiting for plane to taxi.

Sniffing session involved...

Chanel Coromandel- wow what an unexpected olfactory experience. It’s really unusual and I can’t place one dominant note. I think this would take some training to love but it has captured my attention.

Mugler Aura. Yes toothpaste deep heat and vanilla. It’s very appealing but dadent put it on my skin. Also realised I still love Angel - must be the memories associated with it!

Sisley Eau de Campagne - loved it. So fresh so green and lots of tomato leaf. Does remind me of Shay and Blue Dandelion Fig but different

Miller Harris Etui Noir - leathery loveliness. A little spicy and a little bit of sweetness

Miss Dior - Pink minger alert. Some very sugary flankers surrounding it.

Tom Ford- Santal Blush woody and lush

Dior addict- sophisticated vanilla Chypre

BluebellGal · 20/10/2017 07:44

Blind testing... let’s mix them up - roses and orientals?

My bottles arrived. Decanted the first perfume last night and it’s my SOTD today

PerfumeIsAMessage · 20/10/2017 08:21

Morning. No SoTD as am on day 2 of sinus head. Left side yesterday predictably moving to right side today.

Noel must be referring to some skanky lady who was at some hippy festival so whilst in reality she probably smelt like a hairy biker, I shall imagine instead she was in something skanktastic like Femme or Jicky or Diorella.

Though London 1969 is so special it, at the moment, is in FB territory.

explodingkittens · 20/10/2017 09:59

Ow, PIAM, I get terrible sinus head too so I feel your pain. Hope it clears soon. judy, really hope it all goes well on the 3rd.

Bluebell, was it the Miss Dior Originale you sniffed, or the new formulation? The newer one is indeed a PM (as are most of the millions of flankers) but to my nose the Originale is divine. Funny how we all get different things from the same scent though!

SOTD is SL Ambre Sultan. This is a powerhouse of balsam and vanilla on me, which is completely perfect for today as it's grey, wet, dark and my nose is completely stuffed up, so it feels like wearing a very classy and delicious version of Vicks Vapo-Rub Grin

Got a day of washing, tumble-drying and packing ahead, ready for our 3.30am departure tomorrow morning. Should be working but will just have to answer emails in between washing loads!

MrsMacNally · 20/10/2017 10:06

Hope you're head feels better soon Pest. And sorry for typo in my last post - I am going to label my existing 9mls to create a no-additional cost calendar for myself. I do reach for some much more then others so will be good to work my way through systematically.

Am saving up for the proposed Coromandel split with Cheap and *Boldly" - final call for anyone else interested in coming in?

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 20/10/2017 12:39

Oh Bluebell I do love airports. Nothing to do except shop and maybe get nails done and maybe a glass of wine... sigh...

SOTD is Dark Heart. Not quite what I expected- lots of vanillery brown sugar for a couple of hours and then a slight hint of tobacco wafting in later. Love this a lot though. Trying to get a FB while still on offer by PayPal seems to be down Angry

PerfumeIsAMessage · 20/10/2017 16:05

My 32 Avon soaps just arrived. Thankfully 10 minutes before dp.

They are wonderful, and the Timeless one has a hint of Diorella to it to my (blocked) nose. Certainly enough for me to be looking now for a bottle on ebay.

L'Occitane advent calendar also arrived, with a gift set of the wotsit Lumiere which was £10 instead of £20 because I spent over £40. Undecided whether to give it to dd (it's a minger, so I'd end up having to smell it on her!!!) or to dniece who is very much a PM kind of girl. To the point that a L'Occitane minger might be a bit too classy for her. Blush

MrsMacNally · 20/10/2017 18:16

PiaM - Timeless is fabulous. Have you got Elusive and Somewhere too? Timeless might have to be tomorrow's SotD. Bit worried about posting internationally - wouldn't want your share of the glorious juice being impounded somewhere...Unless you can think of a lateral solution - any travel plans etc?

explodingkittens · 20/10/2017 18:23

Showered, scrubbed, deforested and now in reformulation Cabochard. Luca Turin gave this a stinker of a review but I'm pretty fond of it on the first few sniffs. Aldehydes, leather, something citrussy, something rosey maybe? However dp immediately decided I smelled like his grandma. He's not quite enlightened enough, perfume-wise, to realise that's actually a compliment round these parts! Grin

I have to be up at 2.45am tomorrow . Have decided to take Ealing Green, Cassis en Feuille, the new reformulation of Y and...something else I can't remember. Bright, fresh scents for a hopefully sunny week by the pool, doing very, very little.

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/10/2017 18:37

I love Cabochard. But DH says "old lady smell" as well.

GreenPolishToGo · 20/10/2017 18:49

Poor Judy you have been through the mill. I do hope there's an end in sight. PIAM hope your poor head is better soon.

Congratulations on the houndstooth Miss Dior Cheap - I hope you love it. It seems a striking failure of imagination on Dior's part to give the same name to another entirely different perfume. I call the new one "the pink imposter".

MrsMac I, ahem, now seem to have a Coromandel sample en route. So it is possible I may be saving up too...

Lovely sniffing report Bluebell. Eau de Campagne sounds delightful

The 4160 Tuesdays Mini Advent Calendar was my favourite Christmas present last year - just throwing that out there, not that I'd want to lead anyone astray or anything...Wink

I started off the day in a sample of Terryfic Oud from the Perfume Society's Exquisite Essences box. This is proof I am an idiot who does not learn, because I really should know better after several frantic scrubbing sessions involving oud-based fragrances. Today was no different and I ended up swabbing my wrist (at least I had the sense to spray just one wrist) with nail polish remover. Cinnabar - the Betamax to Opium's VHS - covered up the final traces beautifully. It is so gorgeously spicy. Estée Lauder's marketing people must have been ready to weep when Opium took over the world instead.

Enjoy your holiday Kittens .

Managed to get a FB of Dark Heart sorted in the end. Phew. I can see this one coming out fairly regularly...

That needs to be it for a but now. 4160s Rhubarb should come in November and then in December I'll have the AC samples so between now and Christmas I'll aim to hunker down with what I've got. (Apart from a share in Coromandel obvs...)

Going to give the Miss Dior a run out tomorrow. Also planning ahead for an importantish meeting on Monday. From what the bottle smelt like I think the vintage Y that came with my Dark Heart might just make me feel, and therefore be, invincible...

Judydreamsofhorses · 20/10/2017 20:38

SOTD is JHAG Mad Madame. I’m on holiday! And DP has a second interview next Friday - it’s between him and one other person, so please send positive thoughts. Hope everyone’s okay and have lovely weekends ahead.

BluebellGal · 20/10/2017 20:46

On way home from airport now. A very long day! My SOTD which I won’t reveal because it’s “bluebell type A” in the blind sniff is still going strong as a beautiful skin scent. I applied it at 5am!

Terribly long day travelling and in back to back meetings, so I’m exhausted. I don’t know what airports cheap goes to but I want to fly from there! No nails here, so hoards of stags drinking pints at 6am and nowhere to sit. Not pleasant at all (except the sniffing expedition of course).

At ballet tomorrow at 9 so will dab on the ECoudray Iris Rose again. Btw that’s not one of my secret blind scents - I’ve spoken of it too often!

No Kittens unfortunately I couldn’t test the original Miss Dior - they just had the PM ones. Addict was hidden on a bottom shelf as were the classic Guerlains (Mitsouko and HLB). Only Chanel gives their classics pride of place and they were very busy. What does that say?

I was really impressed with the whole Sisley range. They are modern classics - proper Chypres, green fragrances etc but with a more modern twist perhaps and not any sugar in sight! They also had fabric strips for sampling (which are so much better than card).

BluebellGal · 20/10/2017 20:49

Hope everyone on half term holidays enjoys their well deserved breaks and sending positive vibes to Judy’s DH (and tooth!)

MrsMacNally · 20/10/2017 21:18

EK - if you like the current formulation, you'll go nuts about the rich, dramatic smokey vintage version. Do please hunt some down. (Didn't LT remark the moths have been at the current one?).

MrsS-what does MrS like?

Green - be sure to let us know what you think of it...

Anyone know what the 4160 Scent of the Week is?
