I was swayed by the hype and bought some Glossier makeup, and they'd put in a perfume sample too. Does anyone know if it was made by Sarah Mc? It says it's called Glossier You, so is that different to Mrs Gloss? It was a bit meh, then fruity PMish, and has now gone to quite a nice drydown, I can't tell what it is though, dry and sweet.

Oh no, Judy! I do remember once having loads of x-rays and the dentist assured me there was nothing wrong with my tooth, but when he reluctantly drilled into it, it was all rotten underneath and I needed a root canal. I had been in tears half the previous night and made him do it. I've had three root canals and they didn't hurt at all, other than the injection.

Badders08 · 18/10/2017 01:33

Probably....i love it 😁

boldlygoingsomewhere · 18/10/2017 08:42

Judy, I don't enjoy the dentist either- I've been threatened with root canal every time but have mangled to stave it off.

MrsMac, have sent you a pm. Smile

SOTD is the Mary Greenwell Fire - second try and I prefer it to my first sniff! Smells a bit warmer today but I don't think it has much longevity:

PerfumeIsAMessage · 18/10/2017 08:44

Morning.

SoTD is Cedrat something or other (Atelier) It's basically MG Lemon and has almost gone after 45 mins. Leaves a nice warm lemon on the skin though. Not bad, will file away for hot summer days.

Handed in job application yesterday, there was, at 8am, one other candidate. needs to kill them quietly but applications closed at 12 so there may be more. Thus spent the day agitated. Got to grips with myself in the afternoon by wearing Anais Anais and curling up to watch a Princess Diana documentary on netflix Grin

Kittens- glad you like the proper Miss Dior. It's spectacular.

Judy- belated hugs for yesterday. I had a root canal 2-3 years ago and it was less painful than any filling I've ever had.

SwedishEdith- welcome, your tastes are impeccable- Opium, Poison, Rive Gauche and Paris (original) should be in everyone's scent box.

Mrs Mac- love the sound of IAP.

explodingkittens · 18/10/2017 09:56

SOTD - Arpege. Gorgeous powdery aldehydes with a hint of Jasmine but not, thankfully, overpowering to my nose. Although I have another cold on top of the hideous Cough That Will Not Die, so it's entirely possible that I'm suffocating the rest of the office without knowing.

Talking of Knowing - oh my goodness, I tried it yesterday and think it's amazing. I mean, it's rude and heavy and the bottle is frankly vile but, heavens, what a scent!

OCSockOrphanage · 18/10/2017 12:35

Vert d'Enscens today, and having dismissed as a chilly work scent in summer, I am liking it much more. The incense seems better suited to autumn weather than August sun, but it's still got a hefty green note that lasts quite well.

MrsPestilence · 18/10/2017 12:50

SoTD is Eclat d’Arpège, I really thought of it as a spring scent but it works. It is like the lilac has taken a back seat, it is more tea, amber and osmanthus .

MrsPestilence · 18/10/2017 12:58

more advent calendar stuff

BluebellGal · 18/10/2017 14:18

I’ve ordered my sample spray bottles pest and mrsm

judy Sorry to hear that your tooth is still not sorted- something will have to be done soon. You can’t live with it indefinitely

SOTD is Agonist Isis which is heavy on the vanilla and although quite nice not really anything to write home about for the price they charge!

BluebellGal · 18/10/2017 18:37

Where does one buy a pipette?

BluebellGal · 18/10/2017 18:40

Very disappointed with Agonist Isis today. Disappeared by mid afternoon
Have over-sprayed with Shay and Blue Dandelion Fig. Weirdly it has mixed well with the vanilla base and I’ve got an cream of tomato soup going on! Weird but rather nice

VapersNest · 18/10/2017 19:12

Hello all (3/Sherry here).

I'm all discombobulated as haven't been on the thread for a few days and its moved so quickly.

I've been on a weirdy perfume journey this week, trying out forgotten things at the back of my cupboard because I can't buy anything new for a bit .

I've dipped in to forgotten celeb fragrances and found some success with Paris Hilton Fairy Dust. Don't laugh! Its a powerful white floral in a very similar vein to Madonna Truth or Dare - pretty good if you like strong, creamy gardenia and tuberose with a vanilla/peach dry down.

Revisited Samsara (still don't like. Why? Cant put my finger on it...) and Poison (fabulous, but miss the old formulation SO much).

Twitching every time I visit this thread or Fragrantica, though. Give me strength Grin.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 18/10/2017 19:32

Evening! Oh Judy hope things improve. Absolutely agree with Mary that the injection's the worst bit. That, and for getting that half your face is numb when you go back out into reception afterwards so confidently have a swig from your bottle of water and drench yourself. Oops.

A straight nerve is good too. Mine's bent so if anything goes wrong they won't be able to just redo it - full on extraction will be the only option!
Good luck PIAM. Hopefully other applicant is nowhere near you in terms of points.

SOTD was Mitsouko (but absolutely NOT because a nearly full bottle somehow made it from EBay to my house M'lud, honest) Had an out of office meeting all day so very much hoping to find my Dark Heart sample in my intray tomorrow!

MrsMacNally · 18/10/2017 20:05

In London - ran past a Chanel boutique, so scent of the late afternoon is Coromandel. First time I've tried and I'm smitten. It's a stupendous beauty - up there with L'AdDM. I need to stop buying cheap thrills and save up for 75mls. If anyone fancies splitting a bottle please PM me. Smile

Started the day in a Shazam! x Dark Heart combo (Pest - you've got me layering). It was good.

Bluebell - loads of pipettes on eBay but the extremely cheap ones can be hard to control (and pumping loads of air into bottles is to be avoided). Haven't asked in Boots but wonder if larger pharmacies sell them?

Bold and Green - I owe you replies - please bear with me whilst I'm on the road....

boldlygoingsomewhere · 18/10/2017 20:12

I've always wanted some Coromandel but have resisted the urge to buy a bottle. Like the idea of sharing one though. Grin

explodingkittens · 18/10/2017 20:25

Home to a lovely package from 4160s. Really liking Dark Heart of Old Havana - rum, smoke, coffee, sugar which dries down to something very amber/musky. Was worried after reading the reviews on fragrantica that this was going to end up too sweet and fruity for my taste, but it's lovely. Very atmospheric.

Also got a sample of Tart's Knicker Drawer, which is pink and fizzy, like Refreshers sweets, but good fun. And who doesn't love an unexpected free sample anyway? Very impressed, and loved my little handwritten thank-you note too. Those are the kinds of touches that will keep me coming back and ordering again...

Coromandel is a stunner, I agree. But I cannot cannot cannot buy any more this year!

BluebellGal · 18/10/2017 20:29

Thanks mrsmacnally will give Boots a try tomorrow

I’d like to try Cooromandel but my local shops don’t stock it. Will i find some at Stansted airport? Passing through duty free on Friday

Judydreamsofhorses · 18/10/2017 20:31

SOTD is Chanel 19.

Thanks for all the good tooth wishes. My own dentist rang me just before they closed today but I missed the call and then was too late to return it - she's on holiday so actually maybe was ringing from home, the guy I saw yesterday said he was going to talk to her. Anyway, I'll ring back tomorrow and schedule the RCT. I am absolutely terrified of needles, scared of the procedure, and afraid it will fail (like the last one) and I'll lose the tooth. Argh! I'm on holiday next week so hopefully will be able to get it then when I can be more flexible.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 18/10/2017 20:32

Ooh really looking forward to Dark Heart Kittens!!!

I'd definitely be interested in a Coromandel split. My tiny supply is getting very low! Not sure what the prices are like in stores but Chanel website has 200ml for £250. A split of, say, £70 for 50ml sounds like a good buy to me with the extra covering bottles and postage. 40ml for somewhere between £50/£55 or however it might work also good.

MrsPestilence · 18/10/2017 20:35

Blue you can use narrow straws or glass tubes as pipettes. Dip in liquid, put finger over top, transfer to new bottle, remove finger. Pharmacies will have narrow syringes, some are brilliant and helpful, other will treat you like a drug addict.
Cream of tomato soup Shock

Hope you get the tooth sorted soon Judy

Blue MrsM I have dabber bottles, can you cope?

explodingkittens · 18/10/2017 20:35

Mary, I was under the impression that the Glossier range is American, but could be wrong.

MrsPestilence · 18/10/2017 20:40

Glossier is American.

I have the Aedes de Venustas Discovery set, I need to change my paypal account password to something entirely unmemorable.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 18/10/2017 20:44

Bluebell-yes, Stansted has all the Exclusifs. They are glass dropper thingies though so you don't get a spray, you can just sniff them though the SA will spray you a card. Coromandel is spectacular. I'd definitely be up for partaking of a split but you might not want to break the (postal) law sending to me!
I like Boy and Rue Cambon very much too, but not as much as Coromandel.
In PP Infusions d'Iris now. Clean soapy heaven.

BluebellGal · 18/10/2017 20:50

Grinpest a simple straw - you’re a genius! Yes I can cope with dabber bottles!

BluebellGal · 18/10/2017 20:50

Brilliant Piam I’m excited about my business trip now and 5am start!
