Hello Edith 30-year-old Magie Noire, that's the real stuff alright! Don't worry about whether your taste is unsophisticated or not - one of my pet discoveries is a delicious smelling little cheapie called Hashtag I Love You, which is quite clearly aimed at the teenage market.
Snowgirl I found this on Idle. I'd be very surprised if samples don't become available because £90 is an awful lot to pay out for something unsniffed. I think most of us have a cautionary tale about the perils of blind buying a perfume that sounds gorgeous on paper.
Judy I'm sure the dentist didn't think you'd disgraced yourself.
I hope he was able to do something for you.
Kittens I loved your description of yesterday's Apocalypse style twilight as stepping into a migraine. I suppose the perfect scent to go with all that Saharan dust in the atmosphere would have been L'Air du Désert Marocain. Only I didn't think of it until later (I do still have some of my sample left) so I consoled myself for the sinister skyline with the frivolously inappropriate, but deliciously chestnut and coffee-smelling Noir Exquis. You are right Cheap it was most definitely a day to avoid high priest types with gleams in their eyes and sharp implements.
I remember how very, very hard you worked on A Bit Of A Pickle (fabulous name) MrsMac. It sounds a marvellous success.
I have got as far as locating the pretty Perfume Society notebook and am now pondering whether to use it as a scent diary or a stash list, and if the latter, whether to split new and vintage into separate lists...Decisions, decisions.
MrsMac, Pest, Bluebell I would join in the blind sampling but my record on successful decants is not good so I'll content myself with hearing about your adventures.
SOTD is L'Heure Bleue - so, so beautiful, melancholy and fit for the grandest of grande dames.
