Ooh lovely boldly look forward to trying it for myself

SOTD Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540. Lurve it, very sugary but so interesting and can’t stop sniffing my wrists. If only I could afford a FB

TK Maxx was very disappointing today and didn’t make it anywhere else. Just about to go out for drinks and dinner - child free evening Grin

explodingkittens · 16/10/2017 18:53

paper, I love five o'clock gingembre too, just right for Autumn. Although it's been a really odd day today - London was like walking out into a migraine today - yellow sky, muggy temp, high winds, really strange.

Have a fab evening bluebell! Am just home and settling in with fish pie and pyjamas.

Ds smelled oddly of LADDM today. He swore he's not been sampling...so I give him a dab of it anyway Wink

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 16/10/2017 19:23

Smelling like a Christmas Cracker sounds lovely to me paper! And feeling very envious Bluebell - DCs are wonderful but last child free evening that wasn't a work trip was 2015. Enjoy every second Grin Kittens it's been mad in the Midlands too.Yellow sky and red sun. Was feeling glad we're not living in the 1200s - pretty sure we had been one of us would have had to have been sacrificed to clear such an ill omen!

Bought the 9ml Dark Heaŕt this morning and a couple of the vintage samples fell in my basket Was delighted to get shipping confirmation by the end of day - should get them before Friday and then have chance to get bigger bottle while it's still on offer if I like it.

SOTD was PP Riv Gosh (or Rob Fish according to auto-correct!) Wanted something clean and fresh to get the week of to a good start. Also had a very happy lunch hour starting my scent journal stash log. It's quite something when you see them all written down!

SilverHawk · 16/10/2017 20:00

MrsMc, were you Mrs C? You must be Confused. You had a jolly good guess on my perfume picks from 4160 Grin
Now I'm going to surprise you and tell you that I love, love not three the GIRL perfume. I find it quite Gothic and it's absolutely perfect for this time if year. It's the iris, violet and the woody combination. It dries down really well on me too.
4160 should arrive tomorrow but I can't get my mitts on them yet. Boo!

Judydreamsofhorses · 16/10/2017 20:31

SOTD is JM Wood Sage. Good luck, PIAM.

MrsMacNally · 16/10/2017 20:58

Silver Wink. BtW - am still enjoying the lovely things you sent Smile.

EK - you need the 'Queen of all the Enablers' badge for that bottle of wine analogy Shock. You are right though about ordering promptly. I ummed and ahhed over Rome 1963 and bought at the last minute at 15.58 on Friday, only to find out, by 10.30 the next morning, it was completely fabulous, but sadly, by then, back to full price.

Bluebell - I'm still game and could offer rose or oriental options, if we can fine anyone else who likes those sorts of things and wants to play? (Guessing 3-4 people keeps it manageable).

Boldly - I have that Geminesse for you - just PM me your address....

MrsMacNally · 16/10/2017 21:01

Sorry Cheap - just realised you were responsible for the 'buy early, buy often' advice on 4160's SotW Grin.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 16/10/2017 22:05

I was very Christmassy today too in Arabie - love this so much, I only have a tiny sample though but despite the little dab i used I can still smell it 13 hours later! I haven't tried Five o Clock Gingembre yet, it sounds gorgeous.

I adore the sound of the workshop, maybe next time! It's a bit of an expensive journey down from Scotland though, I'd need to plan a weekend away (with side trip to all the clothes shops they don't have up here too).

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/10/2017 22:36

I'd like a Christmassy scent, I think. Any recommendations? I'd like something lovely, I don't want to smell like a Yankee Candle or a Glade Christmas plug in. Grin

SOTD was Up the Apples and Pears. It seemed to open with a blast of pickled onions this morning, but then settled down and behaved itself.

MrsPestilence · 16/10/2017 22:51

MrsM Blue lets play! Need another player
2 or 3 samples each, labelled MrsM A, MrsM B etc, one or two ml and any darned price range that you fancy, have enough of. Educational samples or original packing as appropriate.

SoTD Covet, again

MrsPestilence · 16/10/2017 22:58

MrsS I have been very taken with aedes de venustas Copal Azur, frankincense through and through, a wave of salt and spicy but cool. Nice layered with Apples and Pears.

MrsMacNally · 16/10/2017 23:14

I never get beyond those onions MrsS.

Christmas - I want to love Arabie and Capture by Candlelight, but yearn for a bit more depth and heft. I'd love Tauer intensity and stickiness, with orange, buttery plums, booze and spices! Does this exist?

MrsPestilence · 16/10/2017 23:18

Sounds like you need to smear yourself with a luxury Christmas pudding MrsM

MrsMacNally · 17/10/2017 00:21

I do that quite regularly Pest - would be my dessert desert island foodstuff.

MrsMacNally · 17/10/2017 00:23

Calendar makers: if anyone is diversifying into general cosmetics rather than perfume alone, there is a good deal being discussed on Christmas Bargains thread no.10. (Small Clarins two item gift set, plus 9 samples, delivered for £10).

MrsMacNally · 17/10/2017 00:31

Saw a date perfume, Les Jeux son Faits, on the Jovoy website. Fragrantica lists notes as: angelica, petit grain, dried fruit, rum, gin, tobacco leaf, cumin, sandalwood, vanilla, patchouli and labdanum.

Sounds just the ticket. If only I could by their 5 x 5ml black box of samples in the UK....

MrsMacNally · 17/10/2017 00:46

Pest - I think Bluebell's in, so we could give it a whirl?

explodingkittens · 17/10/2017 09:57

SOTD Traversee du Bosphore. Leather and Turkish delight. Bit too sweetly gourmand for me perhaps, but it's quite interesting. A like rather than a love.

Am off to run some errands which may involve lurking around perfume counters...

BluebellGal · 17/10/2017 13:32

MrsM and Pest I am in, I just need to get plastic sample sprayers - any ideas? Also something to decant the liquid?

I can’t remember who kindly offered me some fire (green or boldly maybe?) but I couldn’t find any Travalos at TK Maxx. Will have a look online x

BluebellGal · 17/10/2017 13:32

SOTD Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge again

BluebellGal · 17/10/2017 13:52

Anyone besides Pest and Mrs M in for blind sampling?

explodingkittens · 17/10/2017 14:07

Have done a lot of sniffing today...and bought a perfume notebook Blush. Feel like I'm definitely entering the geek zone now...

Rather taken by the Clinique Aromatics in White/Black. And was really happy to get a good spritz of Miss Dior Originale, which is just fab.

EL Private Collection is actually lighter and fresher than I remember it, but none the worse for that; it's definitely going on the Christmas list.

Then whizzed into M&S to have a huff of Santal Cardamom, which I still really, really like a lot. Most of the other Fragonard's don't really grab me, and the Autograph collection is mostly uninspiring too, imo. But, what I LOVE about M&S is the 10ml pocket sprays they do in the Autograph line, bloody genius and perfect for promiscuous perfumistas Grin. Shame they're mostly pink mingers, really, so I didn't indulge.

And had a literal blast from the past - wondering past the Origins counter in HoF I remembered I used to love Ginger Essence. Was delighted to see they still do it. Such a brilliantly perky, refreshing scent, a proper pick-me-up. Doesn't last 5 mins of course but it's the olfactory definition of zing!

Traversee has gone a bit archetypal-vanilla-drydown now, may have a scrub and see what else is needing to be worn today. It's choir practice this evening so it might have to be Avignon...

explodingkittens · 17/10/2017 14:09

I'd love to come in on the blind sampling but I'm hideously disorganised and never get near a post office, so I'd just annoy you all!

Forgot to say, the M&S minis are just a fiver, absolute bargain and would make perfect stocking fillers.

OCSockOrphanage · 17/10/2017 14:14

I have Fire to share, Bluebell, as I'll never use the whole 50ml. and happy to send some to you. I have an empty Travalo to put it in, but would be grateful to have a replacement when you see them in TK Maxx; there are usually loads around Christmas. PM me if you would like.

MrsPestilence · 17/10/2017 14:32

bottles from Amazon, similar on ebay.
