Clothes shops that disappeared

Was just googling "petite maxi skirt" (seems to be a rarity) and Pilot came up as an option. Remember pilot?! Didn't know it was still going. Which then reminded me of similar store Bay Trading which I used to love as a teen. And etam!

Any others you lot remember?

Oh and if you know any good places to get a petite maxi skirt for a wedding do let me know, I'm really struggling here.

Another one not understanding the disappearance of Kookai. It's in Australia, so my cousin says, but not here.

BikeRunSki · 21/07/2017 08:50

Dash and Pilot still exist. Unless Pilot had folded in the last week.

Racing Green (not the suit company)
Kew

LIZS · 21/07/2017 08:51

Racing Green exists as a brand

woodhill · 21/07/2017 08:52

Yes the trousers fitted me and didn't cut into me.

woollychimp · 21/07/2017 08:52

Tammy Girl
Fenwick's - has that gone?

I did a double take when i saw C&A on hols this year - same logo and everything!

Marlinspike · 21/07/2017 08:52

Anyone remember Snob? Also Kaliko (great work tops) and Dolcis. Not a clothes shop I know, but I still miss The Pier for quirky / ethnic homewares.

TizzyDongue · 21/07/2017 08:52

I was thinking the other day about a shop in Birmingham - don't know if it still exists. It was Next seconds or old stock. Think it was called Next to Nothing. My mum and sister loved it (though I didn't as I was more into Oasis Market and 10 hole DMs!).

CurbsideProphet · 21/07/2017 08:53

I still use Bay Trading hangers Grin

woodhill · 21/07/2017 08:53

Our Principles disappeared in about 2008, beautiful clothes with silk, wool, cotton.

The crap we have now on the high street.

Iamtheresurrection · 21/07/2017 08:54

Was Wrygges only in Scotland? We also had Goldbergs and Razzle Dazzle.

I liked Ravel shoes.

Loved Kookai.

echt · 21/07/2017 08:54

For all you Richard shops nostalgists (is that even a word?):

MrsJayy · 21/07/2017 08:55

I saw an Etam in Spain got excited but it was an underwear shop i loved Etam.i still have a Bay trading cardighan that i wear about the house in winter Its so cosy. I miss C nA i would probably still shop there .

MrsJayy · 21/07/2017 08:57

Oh my Goldbergs that is a blast from the past Grin there was a Wrygges in Falkirk next to goldbergs

PerpetualStudent · 21/07/2017 08:57

I loved La Senza as a teen, felt well fancy buying even a pair of knickers from there - remember how you'd get a 'posh' bag and a scoopful of those little smelly beads?

Loved Bay too - the 1st ever dress I bought with my own money from my 1st Sat job was from there, I still have it 16 years later!

AWendyAteMyFitbit · 21/07/2017 08:58

Chippie? I saved up for a much loved puffa-jacket at school

And and a black market records bag, went to the shop in Soho and it was an event for me and my friends (!)

MrsJayy · 21/07/2017 09:00

Oh yes the posh la senza bag what a load of faffery just to buy some pants but it was a strangly a lovely experience.

woodhill · 21/07/2017 09:00

Martin Ford and Mark one

Floisme · 21/07/2017 09:04

Ah my favourite ever coat was from Mark One.

NoddysBell · 21/07/2017 09:06

PlausibleSuit was your man from Liverpool? Everyone I know here called it 'Coats and 'Ats'!

My Nan claimed Etam stood for 'Everything That Attracts Men'. I think she may have been taking the piss though.

MrsJayy · 21/07/2017 09:10

I really missed BHS this year for holiday clothes as a pp said it was a bit mocked on mumsnet but they had a great pettite range I am under 5ft and always got bottoms from Bhs.

Only1scoop · 21/07/2017 09:11

Bambers
Martin Ford
Ciro Citerrio

MrsJayy · 21/07/2017 09:12

Dd loved Mark One she had every pair of combat trousers they had

Sallywiththegoodhurr · 21/07/2017 09:19

Fenwick still exists

I miss Tammy Girl, I remember buying a thong in there when I was a teenage behind my mums back thinking I was the height of coolness Hmm

woodhill · 21/07/2017 09:21

Owen Owen

elQuintoConyo · 21/07/2017 09:25

I'm in Spain and we still have C&A, lots of DS' clothes come from there. Also Etam has an underwear chain.

I remember shopping in Bay Trading and Mark Ond- Mark One clothes never fit! They were always wonky and terribly badly made. Although I did wear my black crushed velvet floor-length dress from there for years!

I never shopped in Pilot as i knew a manager of one and she said there were fleas in the changing rooms

I bought Kookai boots from a shop last winter. I think there is still a Morgan in Barcelona.

I wore Richards to my graduation Grin

I quite miss all those shops and the memories i have of the clothes i bought from there. Weirdly, though, i have never bought anything from Next.
