Was just googling "petite maxi skirt" (seems to be a rarity) and Pilot came up as an option. Remember pilot?! Didn't know it was still going. Which then reminded me of similar store Bay Trading which I used to love as a teen. And etam!

Any others you lot remember?

Oh and if you know any good places to get a petite maxi skirt for a wedding do let me know, I'm really struggling here.

I remember Open! It was huge, remember lots of Paul Smith monkey bags there.
It didn't seem open for long.

For Liverpool MNers- who could forget Dodo's???

MissAlabamaWhitman · 25/07/2017 00:05

God I loved Dodos!

Sure I was only in there about five years ago!
Used to beg my mum to take me the one on Park Rd when I went to my Nan's on a saturday.

XiCi · 25/07/2017 05:45

Dodos! God, I'd forgotten about that place. I was in there all the time. Liverpool was great for that type of shop, on trend fashion pieces at bargainous prices. Something a bit different from the boring, generic high St stores of today.

mathanxiety · 25/07/2017 06:13

Not a chain or a label or anything, but there was a shop in Dublin called Shree that sold hippie/Indian gear and if it's still there I would love to know where.

(Also, another Dublin related query - anyone remember Phillers, the great sandwich and cheesecake place that used to be in Temple Bar when it was all fields?)

twostepsister · 25/07/2017 13:06

Anyone remember the beautiful boutique 'Boules' in Rose Crescent Cambridge?

FANTINE2 · 25/07/2017 13:07

Liverpool people. Who remembers Solitaire??

Titsywoo · 25/07/2017 13:19

I was just googling and Dolcis still exists?!

www.dolcis.co.uk/

I had no idea!

MissAlabamaWhitman · 25/07/2017 22:15

fantine was Solitaire in St Johns with a red signage?
If so I believe my mum was a fan in the 90s.

Sunbeam18 · 25/07/2017 23:50

Glad someone mentioned Press and Bastyan upthread! I'd been trying to remember the name, loved that place. I remember the shop on Neale St in Covent Garden.

Is Nine West still on the go? Not seen one of their shops for a while.

Bertie shoes?

John Menzies!

ijustwannadance · 26/07/2017 17:31

I bloody loved Dodo's in Liverpool. There was still one out of town for a while.

Was Open the one that had the huge circular doorway with orange/red lights around it?

Can't remember if it was miss Selfridge that when first opened there had wigs on sale as you first went in and clothes were upstairs. Would've been 25 years ago!

EllenJanethickerknickers · 26/07/2017 18:07

Lazycrazyhazy Yes! Jones was next door to Lewis's in Bristol but became Debenhams in the 1970's. My mum always called it Jones. Smile

I think Open in Liverpool was where Primark is now.

Zoflorabore · 26/07/2017 20:23

Primark was the original Littlewoods building, Open was across a few buildings right next to it, yy to the doorway!

I remember Solitaire clearly, I was a teen in the 90's and all of the clothes were covered in plastic wrapSmile

There have got to be more...

Marvellousmarg · 26/07/2017 20:26

From the 80s Wryggs, Razzle Dazzle and What every woman wants. I remember the Skirt and slack centre! and does anyone remember panteloni jeans? Came in a rainbow of colours!

Dash for tracksuits and Bata shoes.

There was also a dept store called Lewis's.

I miss Mark one, got some good summer dresses from there.

Marvellousmarg · 26/07/2017 20:30

Shu or was it Shoo? For, guess what. Shoes!

TuttiFruttiCutie · 26/07/2017 20:32

I read the tite and Immediately thought of Bay Trading- I still own a dress bought back in 1997- it's still going strong, fits and doesn't look dated! And Etam ☹️

Sunbeam18 · 26/07/2017 20:44

Schuh still exists!

SerfTerf · 26/07/2017 20:45

Does anyone remember those striped grey marl/bottle green/ burgundy boat neck loose tops that were everywhere at some point in the early 90s? "Bay trading" just gave me a flashback of them.

TuttiFruttiCutie · 26/07/2017 20:46

Snob! As past poster mentioned!

TuttiFruttiCutie · 26/07/2017 20:52

Didn't Owen and Owen become one of the larger department stores? Which one though?

TuttiFruttiCutie · 26/07/2017 20:52

Debenhams?

Marvellousmarg · 26/07/2017 22:24

So it does sunbeam
Don't get out much!

ijustwannadance · 26/07/2017 22:38

I'm the same age as you Zoflora so same era.
It's weird remembering things like the opening of Clayton Square and the big Disney Store on the corner.
Quarters to buy cheap hair clips etc.

I worked in town in my early 20's when Met quarter was built and Wade Smith opened and the Wetherspoons was just an alleyway and L1 was just a multi-storey carpark opposite Dodo's and Argos.

Sunbeam18 · 26/07/2017 22:41

Marvellous You remember the same shops as me! Assuming Scottish too?! I remember the skirt and slack centre BlushGrin
