Was just googling "petite maxi skirt" (seems to be a rarity) and Pilot came up as an option. Remember pilot?! Didn't know it was still going. Which then reminded me of similar store Bay Trading which I used to love as a teen. And etam!

Any others you lot remember?

Oh and if you know any good places to get a petite maxi skirt for a wedding do let me know, I'm really struggling here.

woodhill · 24/07/2017 08:32

Yes loved Pepe jeans in the 80s.

lurkingfromhome · 24/07/2017 09:14

Pepe reversible jeans in the 1980s!

Only1scoop · 24/07/2017 09:22

Ooo I wore the Pepe 'Betty' with pride.

woodhill · 24/07/2017 09:23

I wore Jane I think

paperandpaint · 24/07/2017 10:31

Does anybody remember a really cool (well I thought so!!!) catalogue- something like 'Utility' maybe? It was late 80s I think. All cool models and photography. I remember decorating my school diary with it...!

Only1scoop · 24/07/2017 10:51

Paper I remember that mini catalogue. Incredibly cool.

Anyone on a not so street credible note remember South Lodge gear. I recall a friend used to have parties and sell their stuff. Namely Leisure suits and tops embellished with sateen n beadingConfused

lazycrazyhazy · 24/07/2017 10:56

Peter Robinson which had a small off shoot for teenagers called Too Shop (often above smaller branches) though was always under the main shop at Oxford Circus so maybe Top Shop was ironic.

lazycrazyhazy · 24/07/2017 11:03

Top Shop!

lazycrazyhazy · 24/07/2017 11:05

EllenJane wasn't Lewis's in Bristol next door to another department store I think called Jones? Really going back to the early 1960s there.

BikeRunSki · 24/07/2017 11:17

There was an awesome little boutique that sold handmade clothes off King's Road, behind Safeways, in the 1980s called Fred's. Simple kilts, printed T shirts that kind of thing. Quite punky, but tame enough not to upset parents too much!

Anasnake · 24/07/2017 11:21

Top Shop ??????

Nettletheelf · 24/07/2017 13:52

You're thinking of the Bymail catalogue, paper.

The stuff was designed by Jeff Banks, when he was in charge at Warehouse.

TSSDNCOP · 24/07/2017 14:18

Was Martin ford a chain, we had one but I always assumed it was a one off.

Next Too was a much better version of Next.

There also used the be Blue Baker next to Ted in Covent Garden.

Gymboree for kids stuff.

TeaAddict235 · 24/07/2017 15:15

Theconifers25 · 24/07/2017 15:37

Does anyone remember Zoo in Capital shopping centre in Cardiff. It was so stylish!

BeautifulWintersMorning · 24/07/2017 18:45

There was a Martin Ford in Sutton, South London

woodhill · 24/07/2017 18:58

Yes Zoo was in our high street in the 70s/80s, loved it

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 24/07/2017 19:45

Does anyone remember Open in Liverpool? A sort of designer department store?
It was in the building next door to Littlewoods and they both got knocked together to make Primark.

I remember Snob very clearly and no one else in real life seems to remember it, so I'm glad some of you do. I lived in NI but would visit family in England and Snob would be upstairs in Etam, next to Tammy. I was too young for it but once, in about 1991 my mum treated me to an amazing cropped, purple jacket from there and it about made my year telling everyone at school on non-uniform day (I was 8 or 9) that my jacket was from Snob.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 24/07/2017 19:47

I think there is still a Stolen from Ivor shop in Stockport.

XiCi · 24/07/2017 20:49

I remember Open keira. In fact I found a pair of sorrenti combats that I bought from there wedged at the back of my wardrobe the other week Grin
