Was just googling "petite maxi skirt" (seems to be a rarity) and Pilot came up as an option. Remember pilot?! Didn't know it was still going. Which then reminded me of similar store Bay Trading which I used to love as a teen. And etam!

Any others you lot remember?

Oh and if you know any good places to get a petite maxi skirt for a wedding do let me know, I'm really struggling here.

I miss Lewis' in Liverpool city centre. I remember they had a whole toy floor called Kids HQ that they used to do up at christmas, two big teddies that used to stand at the top of the escalators dressed in a soldier costume, and they did a Christmas grotto. Anyone remember that?

Marv1nGay3 · 23/07/2017 09:57

There used to be a maternity wear shop called 'Formes' .... I went there when I was about 3 months pregnant and burst into tears when everything was too small. I think it was a French brand and catered for those who had a small neat bump and didn't put weight on everywhere ( like me!).

MumBod · 23/07/2017 11:36

I loved Formes back in the day when I had cash

MumBod · 23/07/2017 11:40

The Sweater Shop
Knickerbox
Tie Rack

There was an independent shop called Sarah Coggles where I live. It was amazing. Sold some great designer stuff, some Great Plains, etc. Such a cool shop. The woman who owned it was a force of nature. She had a desk on an atrium in the back of the shop, a steel-grey bob, red lipstick and a fuck-you attitude.

She bought the shop with her divorce settlement and named it after the woman her husband left her for Grin

It ran aground after she died suddenly. A real shame. I do miss it.

leghoul · 23/07/2017 12:29

Oh I didn't realise that's what happened to coggles! I used to order things from there online. She sounds fantastic.

Zoflorabore · 23/07/2017 12:36

I remember the grotto at Lewis's in Liverpool! And I remember I think it was in Owen Owen's when I was a kid there was a big toy horse you could sit on, I'm 39.

MumBod · 23/07/2017 12:39

I think the brand still exists online.

leghoul · 23/07/2017 13:44

I must have looked at it around that time and seen the website had gone, or something odd happened, but yes just seen it's there now.

leghoul · 23/07/2017 13:45

I loved Tie Rack. Does it really not exist? I used to buy colourful or art ties from there and wear them as a teenager with shirts. Hmm Confused

Dancergirl · 23/07/2017 15:04

mumbod I remember Knickerbox, I used to work at the one in Hatfield Galleria!

EllenJanethickerknickers · 23/07/2017 17:40

The Lewis's in Bristol was taken over by John Lewis, but everyone still just called it Lewis's of course. I haven't been there for years but I think it's Primark now.

There was a Primark in Bristol in the late 70's. I used to browse in Chelsea Girl and Etam then buy the cheap copy in Primark. Hacking jackets and velvet dresses with white lacy collars, and later, rara skirts. Blush

formerbabe · 23/07/2017 19:04

Morgan and Kookai...all the coolest girls at school shopped there!

LIZS · 23/07/2017 19:35

Sock Shop?

Rosenspants · 23/07/2017 20:03

Ravel
Chelsea Girl
C&A
Richard shops
School uniform shopping in Jones Brothers, Holloway
Dickens and Jones in the West End
Hennes (H&M isn't a patch on the original. ) didn't there used to be a huge one where Top Shop Oxford Circus in now?
...and Peter Jones opposite.
Swanky Modes, Camden Town
Mr Byright

Miss Selfridge is a concession in Debenhams here

fustercluckery · 23/07/2017 20:33

I remember Lewis's and Schofields in Leeds. Also Brown, Muffs in Bradford which became Rackhams. And Busby's which became Debenhams before burning down.
