Unexpectedly have got the first empty from 12toshelve. Had a Body Shop lip balm which I was struggling to finish and thought would take forever. But then suddenly it just wouldn't roll out anymore! I have few more items from the list coming close to the end, I think, so might add few more items not to feel like I have cheated.

kwick I was so looking forward to your pixie feedback. Am using glowtonic at the moment and like it, so had my eye on the double cleaner. I'll just stick to my stash, I think...

curragh · 30/06/2017 19:17
  1. Nuxe Almond and orange flower shower gel, very nice
  2. Clarins handcream
  3. Set of l'occitane mini hand creams (Last 2 re-gifted on to DCs teachers Blush)

I also cut open a tube of body lotion last night so hopefully will be gone within the week

Already finished 2 of my '12 to shelve' but they were already nearly gone (most of the remaining items will be more challenging)

kwick · 30/06/2017 21:58

You guys are on fire!!! I really must turn my attention to the 12 to shelve list!!!

I have only ever used a mini glow tonic and was not that impressed but maybe I did not use for long enough?

kwick · 02/07/2017 08:21

I used the Leonor Greyl hair nourishing mask yesterday (sample sachet from Feel Unique) and left my hair feeling crunchy Sad

Oh and get this!!! A new work colleague told me her sister works for L'oreal they did testing on La Prairie products versus Nivea - formulas the same, scent different! Oh yeah and the price!!!

I have a God awful cold at the moment and Astral cream, believe it or not, is helping my poor sore nose.

Amazing progress, people!

Hope you feel better soon, @kwick! And good to know about the Nivea v La Prairie thing, my mum is a La Prairie devotee, must mention it to her.

Still putting together my 12 to shelve list, meanwhile I've binned an ancient No 7 lipstick that was more than halfway through and had started to smell a bit funny: life is too short to use up lipstick you don't love!

d270r0 · 02/07/2017 09:31

I have used up the first of my 12 to shelve- an espa tri-active Instant facial 3ml sample. To be honest I didn't feel like it actually did anything at all so would not buy the full size.

woodhill · 02/07/2017 19:53

Made progress on holiday,

l'occitaine almond shower gel 20ml

Peppermint face mask 3/4 uses

Sannex body moisturiser sachet

Quince body lotion Dr Hausaka

Aloe gel after sun

Dr Organix eye serum tube cut heading for bin

Dd helped by taking some nearly used products from me too as she is still travelling.

Clarins oil cleanser orange 30ml
M&S sleep cream
REN moisturiser

Hardly wore make up though, too hot and casual holiday

Resisted Duty Free.

My advice is to decant products into those clear plastic bottles. Used all my shampoo.

Great article in telegraph

woodhill · 02/07/2017 19:54

Hope you feel better Kwik. I meant the article you posted

kwick · 03/07/2017 07:38

Thanks very much for well wishes - have now progressed to a cough (not great with my weak bladder) but have not let it stopped me enjoying the weekend & today I am working from home after going for blood tests as am gearing up for fertility treatment again 🤞🏼

I agree pastures if a product really does not suit then chuck or give away.

Well done d27!

Excellent progress wood! Did you have a nice holiday?

So have two empties:

  • Batiste dry shampoo original travel size: has been empty for a while not sure why I did not post & chuck before! I am still seeking a better dry shampoo.... they all seem to make oilness worse!!! Or make my hair crunchy - which I hate!!! Still washing my hair nearly every day...
  • Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin cologne 30ml: SIL picked up at Charity shop she volunteers at (and gets first dibs on what gets donated) and she did not like the scent. She gets so much great stuff - she offered me a Korres travel kit which I declined as I have SO much stuff to use up! Also I used to collect hotel amenities for her to use at gym and that gravy train is over as I wind down my travel with my new job.

Yes brilliant thanks Kwik.

Different and very hot. Nice to be home, bit jet lagged.

FrustratedFrugal · 03/07/2017 10:40

I enjoyed that Telegraph article Kwick and hope that you will feel better soon.

No milestones here but I am tantalizingly close to finishing the neverending Chanel Legende lipstick and the Max Factor compact foundation. Both go on and on! I am leaving for a family trip in the Baltics on Friday and really hope to be done with both by then.

I am also including in the pic the Nars Narsissist Dual Intensity Eye Palette that I have been using almost exclusively for the past six months. I'm pale and cool/neutral and have learned that every single shade on that palette works well for me. I get lots of different looks out of it. I've even learned to like the blue/green combination that I initially found quite tricky - it's great fresh sporty summer look. Initially, I did not like this palette at all so learning to use it and like it feels good.

FrustratedFrugal · 03/07/2017 10:41

Forgot to add the progress pic...

Hello all.

Some great empties on here! I have 2 from my 12 to shelve : Liz Earle trial size moisturiser (meh) And a full size kerastase shampoo. I usually love the shampoo and was bought for me as a gift but my hair is just so dry and awful at the mo that even this did nothing! I've got a couple of mini shampoos to use up and then will be on the hunt for something new - perhaps will try ogx again....probably need to buy a hair treatment of sorts too.

I enjoyed that article too kwick thank you for sharing. Hope you get better soon and fingers crossed for your fertility treatment and all your blood tests.

I am always so impressed with your make up progress frugal I really must start to wear make up again everyday. I used to wear it everyday without fail but since working from home and having DD I have gotten out of the habit.

kwick · 03/07/2017 18:17

@FrustratedFrugal you are my benchmark for make-up usage Grin

My blood test was a breeze!! The nurse balked a little as he needed 6 tubes of blood and then I told him the news that it is hard to get blood from me. But he got a vein on the first try and then he was away!

FrustratedFrugal · 03/07/2017 18:54

Fingers crossed for the next round Kwick!

Woodhill where did you go?

Littlepooch great start to #12toshelve!

I started my vacation last week. The weather has been rubbish for the most part and I have been doing really unglamorous housework with DC (while DH was away on a work trip). My arms and backs of hands are still pretty tanned from my travels earlier this spring, so I painted my nails periwinkle blue (old Kiko stash). My legs are still bone china white.

I accidentally smashed my Sensai compact foundation a few months ago and finally took the time to fix it with hand sterilizer gel (I usually use vodka). If this works, I won't need to buy a new one this week.

woodhill · 03/07/2017 19:11

I went to Mexico

curragh · 03/07/2017 19:11
  1. 5ml Huile Prodigieuse sample. Liked this which is good as i also have a full size one to start. I shall use it on hols in a few weeks as an evening body moisturiser as it gives my skin a lovely sheen
  2. Dregs of a Fructis 2 in 1 shampoo (thanks to DH) which has been in the drawer for years
  3. Dregs of an Elvive conditioner which I hated - found it costed my hair and dulled my naturally blonde hair
  4. Mustela stellatopia lipid replenishing balm 200ml - first of the DC eczema cream stash (they grew out of their eczema thank goodness). This is amazing stuff, bought in France. The only emollient which really made a difference to their skin during flare ups.

Sadly most of the above were not on my 12 to shelve list Hmm. I'm
Making great progress on beauty products but still nowhere near close to finishing any make up....

Iris65 · 03/07/2017 19:20

Finished Eau Thermale cleanser
Threw away two Simple moisturisers as I realised that the reason they were hanging around is because I don't like them.
Bought Olay Q10 pore refining moisturiser at 50% off on Amazon.
Bought Nail Nurse for two nails that keep splitting.

d270r0 · 03/07/2017 20:10

Curragh, I completely agree with the Elvive stuff! I am currently working my way through an elvive shampoo thats been in the cupboard for ages and can't wait until its gone- I use 2 lots each wash and my hair still gets greasy quickly. I am using it with a nice ogx conditioner so that helps but can't wait for a nice shampoo.

FrustratedFrugal · 03/07/2017 20:50

I have the same experience with Elvive - I finished a never ending bottle sometime last year, never again, my hair felt so dirty afterwards. I have fine blonde hair. But someone else loves it on here so it must be excellent stuff for the right person.

kwick · 04/07/2017 07:42

Mexico sounds amazing wood Once Zika threat over/I have had a baby would definitely put that back on my list!

@curragh fab progress! Make up is definitely the hardest to use up!

I have an empty!

  • Lush Rose Jam shower gel: this was ok, not ny favourite smell but was soft on my skin. This was from 12 to Shelve - so only 10 to go!!!!

FrustratedFrugal · 04/07/2017 08:17

Finally the first item ticked off my summer list: Maxfactor Facefinity compact foundation is gone! I really liked this, bought it before Christmas and it is now gone, it suited my pale winter skin well but is perhaps a tad too pink (everything except some grayish Korean BB creams are always too pink or too yellow on me). I'm actually thinking of ditching all my liquid foundations. For some reason, I tend to get breakouts from them. Mineral makeup and compact foundation seema to suit my skin type better and I am not too wrinkly yet. Will consider repurchasing Facefinity but will use up my Sensai compact foundation first.

woodhill · 04/07/2017 10:41

Yes forgotten about Zika. My baby days are over. It was very different and I'm so glad I went, beautiful. Sad the USA are moving in big businesses though. Would recommend.

curragh · 04/07/2017 10:46

I went to Mexico on honeymoon (years ago, pre-Zika) and loved it....especially the food (yum!)
