kwick it is good shampoo - I've used it on my hair but I just can't get away from the horseyness of it. Though that's probably because i associate it with horses and their lovely horse smell. I have medium length thick unruly hair and mane and tail did tame it a bit. 😉

Am almost done with a boots coconut shower gel. The more I use it the more I don't like the smell. Only a few more showers to go. (Am determined not to waste anything)

DragonNoodleCake · 25/08/2017 11:33

This was advertised on my Facebook feed!!! Must resist

Oooooh dragon. Trying not to click on link!
I've finished a mascara (never happened before!) and working on lovely summer smells as now feels very autumnal as wet and cool. And shops filled full of lovely autumn things!
Trying to reduce clothes hoarding too. Less successful!

kwick · 25/08/2017 14:31

How much is it dragon? Sorry I am an enabler 😔

Well done another!

I went to Superdrug- none of the ELF products I have on my hit list are there will have to check online

Dragon bear in mind you don't get all those products in a birchbox- only 5 so they aren't as good as that picture makes it look!

comeagainforbigfudge · 25/08/2017 15:56

Sooooo..... I may have been to boots to buy foundation and I may have bought lancome teint idole ultra wear and matching powder and got their free gift.... and then I may have bought a blusher and got a free face mask too.. Grin

On the plus side i only paid for the blusher as used my boots points..... but still 🙈

kwick · 26/08/2017 07:46

I have an empty:
-Caudalie beauty elixir: as Tati says this is a complete Princess product... no idea what it really does for the skin but I love the smell! I think Caroline Hirons said that the Caudalie grape water was good if not better (and loads cheaper) and I have had that in my stash for ages!

Have a great bank holiday weekend everyone!

Hello - help me - I have to stttooppppp

FrustratedFrugal · 26/08/2017 12:59

Cupeteap we are here to help - tell a bit more about your situation!

I've finished my #13by Halloween! Half of it was sheet masks but it is fair because I wear much less makeup in summer - and I finished two full size blushers! One of them was from the early 2000s Confused

#13forHalloween
[x] My Beauty Diary Apple Polyphenol sheet mask
[x] My Beauty Diary Bird's Nest Sheet mask
[x] My Beauty Diary Imperial Pearl Sheet mask
[x] Batiste Blush dry shampoo, travel size
[x] Badger Balm Sore Muscle Rub sample
[x] MBD Aloe Vera sheet mask
[x] Innisfree Acai sheet mask
[x] MBD Bird's nest sheet mask
[x] MBD Aloe sheet mask
[x] Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pack, Rice
[x] Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen, travel size
[x] Lily Lolo Rose Glow blusher-bronzer
[x] Max Factor English rose blusher

I am finishing quite a few other summer staples in the coming weeks so I'll just keep an open list to see how far I will get by Halloween - unless someone here comes up with a new tempting challenge.

And I've done yoga every day for 21 days now! It feels amazing, my body feels more flexible and toned and I sleep a lot better. If the day has been long, I'll just do a brief bedtime yoga session - it's magical, it really helps me to unwind 🙏🏻✨. I really like Adriene's Youtube exercises and the Yogaia app. And I've organized our junk room: I now have an inviting workspace there and the other half of the room serves as a yoga studio. It's my new favorite place in the house, super calming after a long day.

FrustratedFrugal · 26/08/2017 13:02

Oh and I'm super intrigued by Mane 'n Tail! Grin

Pengweng · 26/08/2017 17:11

Anyone who got the latest in beauty box tried the James Read gradual tanner? Bit scared to just squirt onto my face and leave it as I'm really pale. Thoughts from anyone who has used it before.
Can i use on my legs as they are super pale and i have brown feet. Opps.

Pengweng · 26/08/2017 17:13

I've finished a Ren miniature global face cream. Didn't really like it. Much too thick and felt like it was sitting on my face all day. I've got another Ren on to try that came in the GH box so maybe that will be better.

ememem84 · 26/08/2017 17:23

Have taken a mini soap and glory body butter and a green tea body butter from the stash and have added it to my use ups basket.

Cupoteap · 26/08/2017 17:31

Thanks frustrated- put simply I buy too much and use too little Grin

I am currently subscribed to 2 beauty boxes plus will raid Superdrug monthly. Also buying odd bits used in fb group etc.

I don't buy many high end it's but if I'm looking for something I tend to buy a few different ones and justify its cause they are cheap BlushConfused I wanted anew bronzer and bought 4 in one trip!

I'm going to cancel the birch box and I managed to stop myself buying a box from a fb group last night- yay me.

kwick · 26/08/2017 18:58

frustrated 31 by Halloween? You rock!!!
Amazeballs with the yoga. Are there any short (10 minute) Adriene sessions you would recommend?

So mane n' tail - too rich for ny greaseball hair

Welcome cup! Subscription boxes are dangerous!

Do not think Caudalie grape water will last long - I am LOVING it!!

Two more empties:

  • 300ml pot of Coconut Oil: originally purchased for oil pulling soon left to one side but it is an amazing make up remover and I will buy again once all other balms done with and I have a new bathroom
  • Dermalogica daily microfoliant: liked this (was part of last year's advent calendar) but think bicarb of soda would have same effect Hmm

Off bits used - not used!!!!!!

CantChoose · 27/08/2017 07:00

Welcome cupo. We tread a delicate line between helping and enabling so enter at your peril ;)
On that note, has anyone's GH box arrived?
I used to use mane n tail when I was a younger, horsier ,slimmer lady. I did love it then but not sure how much of that was just it being a 'thing' with my horsey friends.

I've finished an elemis cleaner (staple, already repurchased) and a beauty box elastasizer. I quite like this but I don't love it and it's a faff to use. I have another one the same which I'll happily use up but I wouldn't re purchase. (Not that id need to - I have two big hair mask tubs and 4 beauty box size tubes in the stash Blush)

Pengweng · 27/08/2017 07:08

My GH box arrived weds (ordered last friday i think).
Not used any of it yet though. Saving the sheet mask for next weekend before I go back to work in an attempt to look like I've not spent the whole summer hols being stressed. Grin

Cupoteap · 27/08/2017 07:09

Can't choose - phew don't want anything to militant Grin

Any tips?

DragonNoodleCake · 27/08/2017 07:43

Comesgain that's ok because teint idol is an amazing foundation 😀

FrustratedFrugal · 27/08/2017 07:54

Cupo unsubscribing one of the boxes is great progress!

For me, going through my hoard, sorting everything and counting the number of products in each category helped me to get started - I did not want to add to the pile by buying yet another similar product (however, I have not been able to resist occasional shpping binges). Using up some samples and minis is also a great way of getting started as you get some results fast. My most effective strategy is choosing about 7 daily default products (a lipstick, blusher, eye shadow, foundation, brow color, body product, facial skincare product). I apply those on autopilot most days. I can use other products as well, but those that I am currently focusing on get more wear and will be finished in due course. This way, I've finished half a dozen lipsticks, several blushers and foundations and an eye shadow palette during the past year or so.

Kwick fab idea I'll try #31byHalloween. Pretty challenging though Wink I'll check some of the vids and come back with recommendations.

CantChoose · 27/08/2017 07:56

Oh pengweng I ordered mine the same day and no sign of it :( I'll have to chase them if it doesn't arrive by Tuesday.

cupo I try to only have one or two or each items on the go for things I have lots of - perfume, lipstick, eyeshadow etc.
This thread definitely prompts me to use things like hair / face masks, serum samples etc that aren't part of my daily routine normally and just languish in the cupboard. I try and have one thing on the go at a time that isn't a staple for me iyswim.
There's also often lists around of a certain number of products everyone is aiming to use, I think 13 for haloween is the next one. I don't do these though as I'd get too cross I'd I didnt manage it!

CantChoose · 27/08/2017 07:58

Cross posted with frugal a bit.
Completely agree with miniatures. Faster to use so more rewarding. They actually take up more space in the stash relative to amount of product too so clears room remarkably quickly.

kwick · 27/08/2017 08:14

Gosh darn it! Have found a lovely eye look which uses the two remaining Chanel eye shadows in prehistoric pallet so will be working those for an age. May I say if people did not restock make-up until it was used up there would be no market!!! I mean it is so flipping hard!!!

I am a marketers dream. Put some gloopy stuff in shiny packaging and tell me it'll make my life 1000% better and I'll buy it despite the fact that i don't need it my life is pretty good right now and I'm supposed to be saving money.

Or when something I use religiously (clarins) runs out and I go to replace there's a special offer - buy eleventy million things and get a teeny sample free...I'm all over it. Saying that clarins specials are usually pretty great and I do end up getting my standard basic products as miniatures.
