I got totally confused and sprayed eau sauvage. Then I realised it was eau de rochas I was supposed to be trying, so now I have both on either side of my left wrist and they are both blending into each other and I don't know what I'm smelling!

Puppylucky · 05/07/2017 13:21

SOTD another newbie- Calvin Klein Reality. I have to say this is a revelation. I have always been deeply snobby about CK (apart from nostalgic love for Obsession) but this scent is beautiful. It's a unique woody salty incensy smell thats like nothing I've ever smelt before and (relatively) cheap compared with all the niche scents I've been trying - glorious!

FloofyCat · 05/07/2017 16:54

I adore Palomo Picasso, one my all time favourite top hundred ten!

Oooh pest I love Mary Greenwell and the purse sprays are excellent value, aren't they? Have you tried Fire? Perhaps you can hide your credit card in the well Grin

I must re-visit Black opium, the original opium is my winter fave but last year I couldn't bear it - it smelt of smoke and seemed to "catch" in my throat but I did have a very bad chest.

Reality sounds good. I'm still waiting for my Violet Eyes!

Has anyone heard from green I don't think I have seen her for quite a while?

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 05/07/2017 17:39

I love a ginger perfume, well specifically CtG/lush Ginger. IT was my 90s scent, along with obsession, Aromatics and Paloma Picasso. (I'd like to apologise to everyone I worked with and suffocated)
Ive misplaced my rg dupe, so I had to dive into my emergency work stash, found a miniature of l'air du temps. Forgot how much I love it.

Mrsmartell08 · 05/07/2017 17:42

I'm still waiting too floofy.
Feel very hot and bothered today and a bit hormonal.
School show later so I think it wil be Valentino poudre...
I must try paloma picasso..

papersmile · 05/07/2017 17:55

As I was feeling a bit sad about trying lots of samples and not finding anything that I really liked I decided to go back in time to a perfume I liked years ago, and never bought.

So I treated myself to a very small bottle of Roma. I really like it. It's not love, but a very strong like.

Mrsmartell08 · 05/07/2017 18:20

It's nice isn't it?
I bought a bottle about 15 years ago in Rome.
I've doused myself in Valentino poudre...I'm surprised you can't smell me! 😀

MrsCocoa · 05/07/2017 21:37

Tell us about the Bodhi Language Mrs K?

Yes, I hope ^Green* you are doing OK? Crazy busy time of year...

Is someone limbering up to set us up with pink mohicans and cats - Floofy; was that you?

MrsCocoa · 05/07/2017 23:04

Breaking news on the Aug 12th Perfume Making Workshop @ 4160s, West London. Sarah Mc says:

It's likely to be quite hot at the studio - so I suggest that we do 11-3. I'll do you a special £60 session to make a 9ml purse size, with the option of upgrading to a 30ml for an extra £40 on the day. The usual 11-5 session including 30mls is £125

NB. Think the plan is that we eat before or after the session at the cafe over the road, rather than take the usual longish lunch break in the middle, so we shouldn't lose too much actual making time. Hope this sounds OK to participants?

There are currently three spare places if anyone else is interested and can make this date? PM me or Green for further details.

Calminaqualm · 05/07/2017 23:09

Puppy I have L'Artisan Noir Exquis on my list of wants because the notes sound so good!

MrsCocoa, I have asked 4160Tuesdays for a sample of Black Velvet Cafe in with my Naughty Cupboard Sale buy (Silk, Lace and Chocolate).

Hand up - I'm going to the Somerset House perfume exhibition next week - I will report back!

Calminaqualm · 05/07/2017 23:15

MrsCocoa, the arrangements for 12th August sound fine to me. (I'm already on your list.)

MrsCocoa · 05/07/2017 23:31

Thanks Calmina.

MrsKlugscheisser · 05/07/2017 23:50

I didn't think Bodhi Language was quite "me". I love Sexiest Scent and haven't tried Buddhawood Box, but I felt that Bodhi Language was a bit too hippyish for me - a bit joss sticks and a whiff of camphor.

Mrsmartell08 · 06/07/2017 07:09

I'm getting impatient
Still waiting on violet eyes and my knowing edp...
Looks a bit grey today so sotd prob nightmusk

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 06/07/2017 09:46

sounds fine to me mrscocoa so what exactly is included in the day and price? is everyone making their own way to the studio or are we all going to meet centrally and travel as a group?

Mrsmartell08 · 06/07/2017 10:05

Oh dear
Violet eyes is a no from me too
Nice enough but...nope

Mrsmartell08 · 06/07/2017 11:32

Gah
I can't get a refund so if anyone wants a swopsie I have 15ml violet eyes boxed.
X

lasttimeround · 06/07/2017 12:58

Is that the Laura biagotti Roma? - @papersmile? I remember that from the 1990s. Loved it then and was excited to re sniff in sn airport recently. I do like it. Something I'd get a small sample of (after a few other samples and decants I'd like.) But on my list too.

I'm wearing prada fleurs d'oranger while on holiday in the UK. Reminds me of sunnier summers. I have a recollection of outdoor cafes in Italy and Greece with flowering and fruiting oranges/citrus fruit. It's lovely. Doesn't work as magically on my skin as more woody chypre scents do.
But it's a lovely "I'm on vacation smell" for me.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 06/07/2017 13:18

prada fleurs d'oranger smelled like petrol on my skin, i loved it in the bottle but it was yuck actually on my skin so i swapped it with someone on perfume thread at the time. can't remember what i swapped it for though!

papersmile · 06/07/2017 16:13

Yes, lastimeround it's the Laura Biagotti one. It's really growing on me. I used to always sniff it in duty free but never actually bought it. I

When I looked it up on Fragrantica, I liked most of the other recommended perfumes. I seem to have a type!

Lolodizzyone · 06/07/2017 16:21

I used to love Laura Ashley L'eau. It was the lovliest scent ever but they discontinued it :( and have yet to find anything even a tiny bit as nice 😢x

Mrsmartell08 · 06/07/2017 18:16

Sotd was sun moon stars
It's too hot :(
29 degrees here at 3....
