I hate Angel, it is awful on me. I sniffed the guerlain pamplune one today and it smells a dead ringer for cat pee or that smell of teenage boy trainers. I think it might be blackcurrant - must look it up. O is quite citrusy though I have it in my head that it is a green scent - it is green. I expected it to be more old womany, but it isn't. It's nice - refreshing, summery. I must check out the yardley one. DD was quite taken by a Britney Spears one!

Dlpdep · 02/07/2017 22:21

It's grapefruit I'm smelling in pampelune, fragrantica tells me. Vile!!

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 22:32

Jade is niiiiice. Green, crisp, dry, Cristalle-ish. A Mumsnet Perfumista recommendation and a bloody great one.

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 22:35

Oh I love Pamplelune. But only around the house. I'm a weirdo. A lot of my fragrances are 'home' fragrances. The other Aqua Allegoria fragrance I love is Nerolia Bianca. Again .... at home, after the shower. Not out on the streets Grin.

I ama a Guerlain junkie, though, so feel free to ignore. ha.

Mrsmartell08 · 02/07/2017 22:39

I wish I did love guerlain
I feel like I should
But the only one I like is mitsuoko

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 22:46

Guerlain is quite niche, in all honesty. I mean, not actually 'niche;...but the fragrances are quite marmite.

I wish I liked Chanel! I only love Cristalle. The rest are nauseating to me, for personal fragrance-history reasons.

My mum wears 19 and Allure.
Chanel No.5 is sickly.
Havent smelled the more obscure - 18, 22 etc.
Coco was my scent in my late teens and makes me feel sick, as do the flankers Sad

Mrsmartell08 · 02/07/2017 22:52

I don't like chanel either! Any of them.
A friend wore coco which makes me sneeze
And to my untrained nose no5 smells of cat pee 😝

Dlpdep · 02/07/2017 22:55

I'm the opposite. I think Chanel is very reliable. The only one I hate is Chance. I'd truly love to try the more obscure ones like sycomore etc. but am reluctant to as I feel it will make me take the leap into mega bucks territory as I feel I will probably love them. I love Shalimar in the winter, I find it very comforting, other than that, I have no luck with guerlain. I try, but they just don't work for me, but I think your guerlain is my Chanel.

Dlpdep · 02/07/2017 22:56

My family hate 19 on me, but I love it!!

Mrsmartell08 · 02/07/2017 22:57

Anyone tried manifesto by ysl??
I tried on Friday. I sprayed 3 times and all I got was a slight smell of vanilla 🤔

MrsKlugscheisser · 02/07/2017 23:08

SOTD is 4160 Tuesdays "What I Did on My Holidays." It's quite a cheerful scent - mint, coconut, suntan lotion, candy floss, but not as sweet as you would think with all of that in it.

MrsCocoa (I think we were scent twins from a previous thread!) - I also have, and like the Paris 1948 as well. I like it, but don't love it. The longevity of 4160 Tuesdays is amazing. I can still smell WIDOMH from this morning's post shower squirt. Maxed Out is the scent of my youth - cannabis, Malibu and sweaty knickers, in anticipation of what was to follow...

Puppylucky · 03/07/2017 03:52

Ooh I loved Tocade for a bit - a deliciously glamorous Rose & Vanilla - heavy and warm. By contrast Pamplune is actual cat pee on me - to the extent that a friend once asked me to wash it off as it was putting her off her dinner!! I don't have much luck with the Aqua Allegoria's or Guerlaine generally unfortunately - more of a Givenchy girl!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 03/07/2017 06:51

I am at the (teeny) airport and am wearing Jade.
I like Jade more than Cristalle as Cristalle settles into a sweeter dry down while Jade, being an el cheapo stays true to its top notes.
I think O De Lancome is quite lemony iirc? My gran was given some yonks ago (she's been dead 30 yrs so go figure when it was) and hated it so gave it to my mum. Eau De Rochas is similar I think.

Grapefruit is an odd note as you'd imagine it to be sharp and crisp (and thus for us Jade lovers, perfect) but I always find it really sickly sweet.

I was sorting samples last night and came across my Yves Rocher Neroli. You know what? If it was in a post modern shit brown bottle and Mr Ford had his name on it, people would pay £200 a bottle and write about it in Vogue.

As it is it costs about a tenner. It's a proper neroli , amazing lasting power and has such a warm feel good vibe. I'd forgotten how lovely it is in a sea of meh neroli/orange scents.

Mrsmartell08 · 03/07/2017 07:12

Sotd is D&R
Non voyage message!

Mrsmartell08 · 03/07/2017 07:14

Totally agree re Tom Ford (and I would add jo Malone too!)

FloofyCat · 03/07/2017 07:33

I am definitely going to have to get my paws on some Yves Rocher. Funnily enough, I have been wearing Neroli Portofino today - it has grown on me so much and I officially love it but it's far too overpriced. I'm sure I have a Bronnley Neroli spray somewhere which was about a fiver and it's great. Will have to have a dig.

I just love the word Pampelune. It's very satisfying to say. See also: Pomelo.

I'm also excitedly waiting for my Violet Eyes.

Dip I have a Britney lover here too. Some of them are great value for money. DD is wearing Curious atm which is fab - lots of lychee! J Lo is also rated, especially Deseo which is a brilliant summer perfume and smells expensive.

Sorry I seem to be all about cheap perfumes atm

PS you okay green? Seems a while since we saw you. Hope all OK Smile

Mrsmartell08 · 03/07/2017 07:41

Tried jlo glow on friday...very nice

Auldspinster · 03/07/2017 07:43

Sotd is PP Baby Powder spray.

I love Tocade but my favourite Rochas perfume is Femme.

MrsCocoa · 03/07/2017 08:15

Yep, that's how I feel, but layered with Empreinte it moves up to really good. I seem to remember you're a Choc wearer too?

Reached for the Sahara Noir to balance things up a bit for TF Smile.

PiaM You've made me want to test O de Lancome and Eau de Rochas side by side. From memory Eau de Rochas is the more interesting. I like O de Lancome but can think of so many more interesting citrus colognes, especially from Annick Goutal. Anyone tried the Mugler Cologne?

MrsKlugscheisser · 03/07/2017 08:34

My Choc is nearly finished, Mrs K. I need another trip to a French supermarket (also to pick up a bottle of Eau Jeune Eau Fraiche). A nice, cheap Neroli is La Maison de Senteurs Fleur d'Orangier, which is my summer holiday scent. £10 from M & S.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 03/07/2017 08:40

Dd has the Senteurs one, and a Fragonard one too.

MrsC- yes, agree re: eau de Rochas.. Not a million miles from our beloved Jade/Eau du Sud territory. One of the Spanish group leaders wore it last summer and it was one of those sniffs where you go "what's that? Tell me immediately!"

papersmile · 03/07/2017 09:43

I'm not a fan of green scents but I like O de Lancome. To me it's green, with a citrusy herbal dry down (get me for using the lingo).

It's the 1970s in a bottle. In a good way.

Mrsmartell08 · 03/07/2017 11:06

Avon used to do a lovely green scent called eau givree
I think you would like that if you can track some down on eBay
My ET D&E hasn't arrived yet :(

LambChopsMcGee · 03/07/2017 11:37

Hi,
Can I use this thread to ask a question of you knowledgeable perfumistas?

I have a perfume I love, but it is limited edition. I have a bottle left but I bought it ages ago (sorry if that's bad form and they go off...I'm not well versed...)

It's Givenchy Very Irresistible Edition Croissure (sorry about the spelling...) and it is my beloved summer scent.

The rest of the year I wear Ange ou Demon.

Any suggestions for a new summer scent when that one if done with? I am not good at knowing the "base note" "top note" way of describing so I just wondered if anyone knew these ones and might have a suggestion.

Thanks and sorry for being useless. I will learn...

Mrsmartell08 · 03/07/2017 11:46

Hello lamb
Apparently carnal flower by Lolita lempika is very similar to the givenchy.
Also, you may like Dior addict.
