I'm a whole thread behind and have just picked up some EA Green Tea, complete with body lotion I can have nice smelling feet at a super duper price from Morrisons.
I shall contemplate Elizabeth Taylor, for another thread or so [is there a slow loris emoji? ]

PiaM - Diamonds and Ruby fans might be potential EFTs? I see there are lots of reviews comparing it to Tresor. Do you like any of Sophia Grojsman's?

MrsCocoa · 02/07/2017 10:27

MrsM - absolutely no insight into medical rationale for dosage but DS on 100mcg.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 02/07/2017 10:32

violet eyes arrived yesterday and is another winner! little bit of fruit, peach i think with lashings of cedar, rose and jasmine as well as a touch of amber

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 10:32

Slightly changed my username Grin.

Diamonds and Emeralds is a win for me. Same warm, spicy quality as D&R, but less powder and a bit of tuberose.

Undecided about Diamonds and Sapphires. I didn't like it at all when it went on. It had a sort of 'wet green' smell about it which didn't appeal. The dry down was better, though. I got the melon lots of reviews mention, but it took a good hour to come through.

No idea what SOTD is yet. I'm still in my PJs inhaling coffee in preparation for taking DD to a party that have to stay at to 'help out'.

Mrsmartell08 · 02/07/2017 10:33

Thanks mrsc. Off to Dr tomorrow with him.
Ds2 went to a party with dh and came back with a black eye 😐
Sigh
Sotd is whatever makes my ironing pile bearable.
Wrt Sophia grosjman I love sun moon stars, ET D&R but loathe Paris and eternity - which are arguably her most famous creations

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 10:34

Violet Eyes may be my next payday purchase, although have just bid on some vintage Caleche, so will be eating in to next month's allowance if I win Grin.

Mrsmartell08 · 02/07/2017 10:37

SG is famous for rose in her creations.
I only like powdery rose or skanky rose.
Paris I find just vile

MrsCocoa · 02/07/2017 11:08

Sorry to hear both the young Martells have been in the wars.

3 You've got me twitching now - on a quest for my holy grail wet green

Calminaqualm · 02/07/2017 11:15

MrsM, I hope your son is feeling better today and that you have caught up on sleep.

Perfume/Vintage, you definitely need to test some 4160s! There are some similarities between some of them because they share some notes, but I definitely don't think they are all made from the same base. To take just three of my favourites; Inevitable Crimes of Passion, New York 55 and Invisible Ben, they are entirely different. I'm so sorry about the cat - it's very upsetting when a cat disappears and you never find out what happened - so hard for the children.

HolySchmoly, I often borrow DH's aftershave/EDT seeing as I bought it for him the first place I love Paco Rabanne XS Pour Homme. I also have a small bottle of Geoffrey Beane's Grey Flannel (citrussy, green, violet and woods) to enjoy. This one's just for me!

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 11:24

On the subject of 4160:

I started off with a loaf of samples and thought they all smelled the same. At the time I would have said 'incense-ey' and a bit spicy/musty.

It wasn't love at first sniff at all. But I kept revisiting and eventually found some proper LOVES which are strikingly different to each other (New York 1955, Tokyo Spring Blossom, Doe in the Snow) and some 'likes' that are also really different (Ealing Green, which I hated at first; Tart's Knicker Drawer, MrsGloss, The Sexiest Scent..).

Its a really interesting perfume house. I can see myself coming back to other 4160 fragrances I have dismissed in future.

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 11:24

loaf? load! Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 02/07/2017 13:24

ahhhhhh, i bid on and won ET Gardenia! at this rate im going to a) run out of money and b) run out of storage! space is tight as i live in a shared house so only have a bedroom which i share with DP thats my own and i already have a huge tub full of perfumes! plus random ones in large cosmetic bags and boxed around the room!!! i also have ET Diamonds and Sapphires on its way to me Blush

Mrsmartell08 · 02/07/2017 13:25

You've convinced me...I've ordered diamonds and emeralds...baaaa
I've also got a bid for some knowing EDP.....so much for a perfume buying ban!

Auldspinster · 02/07/2017 13:38

Sotd is Ysatis as it was the closest to hand.

Mrsmartell08 · 02/07/2017 16:41

I've covered myself in D&R
Lovely

PerfumeIsAMessage · 02/07/2017 17:46

Well I shan't buy Diamonds and Rubies if it's like Tresor, which is my all time Pink Minger par excellence!

I am packing and have faffed more than packed, leaving at 6 in the morning. So difficult when I'm packing for 2 mths, which includes one casual week of training, 5 weeks of Being A Manager and 1 week in Menorca which dd doesn't know about yet!

But obviously, the important things are the perfumes I am taking- I have packed:
Vintage 19
Vintage Dioressence
PP Infusions d'Iris
Eau du Sud
Jade
Liz Earle 1
Anais Anais
PP Rive Gauche
Paris

Predictable, moi? Grin

Obviously there will be far more in the case on the return. I was mooching round the 4160s descriptions last night, and love the words so much that I shall end up trying them anyway!

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 18:03

I've never smelled Tresor, so don't know how it compares to D&R.

Jealous of your vintage Dioressence, PerfumeIsAMessage

I sprayed liberally with probably a pink minger Escada Delicate Notes today as it is roasting in London and I was going to be sweating it up at an indoor entertainment centre kids party (HELL)...which I did...was even more hellish and hotter than hell than I'd imagined. Needed something very light and floral.

I won the vintage Hermes Caleche on Ebay . So GOTS TA reign it in Grin

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 02/07/2017 18:11

Good grief. I was going to school prom Friday in a very retro dress in a blowsy rose pattern, so obviously it has to be POAL (well pp dupe) Dh said "have you been putting disinfectant down the drain?" I was very peeved. (Everyone else kept saying that i smelt lovely and expensive.
I'm annoyed as I was in Boyes (cheap northern shop) and there was Grey Flannel for a fiver and I decided not to.

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 18:14

OK, Perfumistas. What would you take on a hot, humid, Far East holiday?

Think cities rather than beaches.

I have to pack light, so am thinking 3/4 perfumes.

What would your list include?

PerfumeIsAMessage · 02/07/2017 18:25

I was going to say my 3 up there- Eau du Sud/Jade/LE1 but if it's far east there needs to be a bit of coconut in there I reckon.

Mrsmartell08 · 02/07/2017 18:31

Hmmm
Coconut is pretty much my kryptonite so tricky
For me it would be RG, sun moon stars and poss yardley white satin

34AQuid · 02/07/2017 18:54

The ONLY coconutty fragrance I can stomach (and own) is Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude. So maybe I'll pack that. Thank you Grin.

I think Jade needs to come with me, too.

Mrsmartell08 · 02/07/2017 19:02

Sensuous nude is ok.
I can bear that one 😁

flickerty · 02/07/2017 19:04

Still on the quest to find "my" scent.

Treated myself to Kilian 'Good girl gone Bad' this weekend and it's soooo gorgeous but still not breath taking enough for me!

Does anyone remember Tocade?? It was so sickly sweet and DELICIOUS. I'm looking for a modern update to that style of fragrance? Have any of you lovely perfumistas got any idea for me? Smile
