Not a lancome fan either...Hypnose is vile yet on paper i should love it
Nightmusk for me today. Feeling hormonal and sad :(
Hope appt has gone ok floofy x

34AQuid · 04/07/2017 16:42

SOTD is Lancome Miracle. I needed something uncomplicated and 'pretty' today. (Random thought: Its the only perfume I can think of with a ginger note that I would wear).

I'm not a fan of Bronze Goddess. Its too coconutty for me. I don't actually like 'tropical' fragrances on holiday Grin. The only coconut I can stomach is Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude.

Mrsmartell08 · 04/07/2017 16:46

I agree re coconut....eurgh 😝
Sensuous nude is ok though
Not keen on ginger either tbh
I find "tropical" scents and "sea scents" just remind me of sun lotion...
I must try dior addict next time I'm in town

Dlpdep · 04/07/2017 16:58

Hypnose IS vile. I have a bottle lurking somewhere. There is something almost licorice about it.

Mrsmartell08 · 04/07/2017 17:24

Ugh
I hate that too!!

Mrsmartell08 · 04/07/2017 18:24

I've noticed in recent years that all the perfume houses keep releasing really nasty flankers??
Estee lauder with modern muse
Guerlain with petit robe noire
Ysl and the 300 opium flankers around atm
Is it because the original is so popular and they are too lazy to create new ones?
Or am I being a cynic?

34AQuid · 04/07/2017 18:28

Lazy money-making opportunity, I think, mrsm.

Petit Robe Noire is grim. I'ma Guerlain lover, but its just NO. As are the majority of the Aqua Allegoria fragrances ( I do like Pamplelune and Nerolia Bianca, though...and I know Herba Fresca goes down well with others).

Flankers are fascinating, though. I love the Poison flankers - well, Hypnotic and Pure anyway. I really like some of the Chanel flankers - Coco Mademoiselle, Chanel Chance flankers all good for me etc.

Some seem pointless, though.

Mrsmartell08 · 04/07/2017 18:44

I don't like any of the opium flankers and I love the original.
Ditto obsession. I see they've just brought another new one out.
Don't get the aqua allegorias at all...they smell like zoflora to me

34AQuid · 04/07/2017 19:04

Howling @ Zoflora. Yes! Most of them Grin.

I haven't revisited Opium since a friend drowned herself in it on a daily basis circa 1992-ish. Scared. agent ever sniffed Poison or Coco again since I wore then around the same time. Happy to accept they are classics, but not ready to experience them again yet Grin. Ditto Rive Gauche, which my mum was extremely heavy handed with in the 80s...

34AQuid · 04/07/2017 19:04

agent = never

MrsCocoa · 04/07/2017 19:16

Magie and Magie Noire are both fab. Other Lancome vintage perfumes I want to try are Cuir, Trophee, Climat and Sikkim.

Mrsmartell08 · 04/07/2017 19:16

I feel that way about coco and poison..
My sister wore poison and my friend wore coco...it seems they were all I smelt in the 80s and 90s

MrsCocoa · 04/07/2017 20:03

Just been reading Elena Vosnaki on patchouli 'chypres' so wearing Coriandre and Paloma Picasso to explore her description in technicolour. I really like this blog and have started taking notes in advance of our perfume making workshop on August 12th! Still spaces available - if anyone wants details pm me or Green.

Judydreamsofhorses · 04/07/2017 20:16

Cold here today, so SOTD was Tauer Lonestar Memories. I know I'm alone in this, but I really like Black Opium, although only in winter - I loathe Opium proper though. You can throw me out now...

Mrsmartell08 · 04/07/2017 20:20

All welcome here judy - even black opium lovers 🤣

Mrsmartell08 · 04/07/2017 20:20

Paloma Picasso is one I'm going to try too

MrsCocoa · 04/07/2017 22:53

Any feedback yet on the Somerset House Show?

Calminaqualm · 04/07/2017 22:56

Judy, you're not alone! I love Black Opium. It is a new love, though. I always thought it was a most peculiar smell, but since the beginning of my perfume journey I have been looking up notes on Fragrantica and things started to fall into place. Once I realised it was coffee I could smell I understood the whole effect.

I have also investigated other coffee perfumes. Tom Ford's Cafe Rose was gorgeous but I only had a small sample and that was finished in no time. Perfume Parlour do a pretty good duplicate and I'm enjoying that. The other one I have is #Rockit from Parfums Hashtag, introduced to me by Green. It. seems to me to be a much lighter version of Black Opium, but I need to test it on one arm with Black Opium on the other to be sure!

Others I would like to try are Montale's Intense Cafe and Britney Spears' Private Show.

Calminaqualm · 04/07/2017 23:05

I meant to say that Green introduced me to the #Parfums Hashtag house in general, not #Rockit. The one she talked about was #ILoveYou, the one that smells like a patisserie! That one is also delightful, although very sweet, and always gets me compliments. They are cheap, only £6 a bottle, less with discounts, from The Fragrance Shop.

Puppylucky · 04/07/2017 23:43

L'artisan Parfumeur also do a nice coffee scent - dryer and more masculine than black opium - called noir exquise or similar

MrsCocoa · 05/07/2017 08:27

Have you tried Black Velvet Cafe Calmina?

MrsKlugscheisser · 05/07/2017 08:42

I have Black Velvet Cafe. I'm not sure about it and am saving it for the winter. SOTD is 4160 Tuesdays Bodhi Language.

Mrsmartell08 · 05/07/2017 09:09

Sotd nightmusk
Off to meet a friend for coffee soon
Then off to school show tonight

Pestilentialone · 05/07/2017 12:04

Hiding credit card. Who would have thought that finding a well in the garden would double your house insurance Shock
These little beauties arrived to cheer me up. £7.50 each from the fragrance shop.
