Join us to talk all things fashion and beauty. The clocks go forward next Sunday (who's bright idea was it to organise that on Mother's Day?!). Longer days and hopefully some sunshine - we're dying to get our ankles out.
All welcome :)

May I jump in with a quick question please wise-voguettes? Matches currently have Isabel Marant Dickers in their 30% pre-sale and I'm really tempted as I've wanted some for years....but they are still nearly £250 even with the discount and I'm wondering if they have rather had their day now? They've been around for at least five years, I'm sure there will be a new boot trend this A/W we are yet to be tempted by so I'm just not sure if they would get cost per wear. I also know they are much copied, but I've tried the Ash dupes and didn't like them, they were very stiff suede IMO and not very comfortable.

I am aware of the "if you like them, buy them anyway" advice which I know I would get if I posted a new thread on the board, but I do like to be a bit current trend-wise and I do love IM, I have a bit of her stuff already. hmmmm....

I'm still a definite Lib

not leather

Is the belt to go with your Gigi's perchance? Grin

kittyhello · 30/05/2017 16:32

Hello MrsM

Fwiw I still wore my Ash Jalouse & Virgins, SE Petty's and Pistols this winter all of which have been around for years and will hopefully wear them all again next winter too. I would say the IM Dickers fall into that category of winter staples but don't take my word for it as I'm no a fashion expert, I just do my own thing! Grin

libertydoddle · 30/05/2017 18:09

Big wave to topaz. Any chance you can get to 8th July MU???

Welcome mrsM. I think the IM Dicker boots are a classic for a particular look ie sort of boho look styled with skirts or a very safe classic look with skinnies. Both of those are great but they are not contemporary or edgy. They won't work IMO with newer denim shapes like cropped flares or mom jeans. So, I would say it depends on your style. Very safe buy if you plan to wear skinnies a lot, not so good if you are aiming for a trendier look.

I also recall someone on this thread saying they are not particularly comfortable...

Kitty great that you can make it.

DryWhiteagainW · 30/05/2017 20:28

Kitty thank you so much, and yes, the belt is to go with my Gigis you found them for me last summer and my snakeskin block heeled sandals which I'm currently loving.
I've actually ordered this belt found for me by Liberty.

Have also made another purchase........

libertydoddle · 30/05/2017 20:31

Where did you get your snakeskin block heeled sandals dry?

DryWhiteagainW · 30/05/2017 20:33

this dress I saw it at the beginning of the season and the 20% off did it for me. Will be really useful, goes with loads and not too overdressed. Lovely on. Very me, even though I rarely do prints.
Topaz lovely to see you again.
Welcome MrsM, no clue about those boots.

Dreamqueen · 30/05/2017 20:40

That's a perfect dress for you Dry. Can totally see you rocking it.

I've been lurking over in the skin care thread. Have upped my game. My Ordinary products arrived this morning. Since I've gone more natural on the make up and started using more face products the amount of time it takes has doubled.

Lib. Now sober I'm in.

kittyhello · 30/05/2017 20:45

Fab dress, it's very you, love the belt too Dry I too bought the snakeskin Gigis and have been wearing them more than the leopard print ones Shock

DryWhiteagainW · 30/05/2017 20:57
maradesbois · 30/05/2017 22:40

Evening,

Big hug for Topaz, lovely to see you on here.

Lib I'm a no for 8 July mu if that's the one you're talking about. Will be on holiday.

MrsM hmm, know what you mean about the dicker boots having been around for a long time. They are v nice but not really my style so wouldn't buy them but on the other hand I wear my cluster boots loads still and they are a design that's been going for years too. Can only wear them with skinnies as well though, felt like I had a wardrobe gap for block heeled medium height narrow ankle boots this past winter to go with cropped wider leg jeans. Maybe you could wait and see if further reduced in the main sale, it is still early days!

Dry adore the whistles dress, beautiful.

Fedup really liked your m&s top from the other day too.

My bamboo bag that was meant to be a pre-order has already been shipped from the US, am excited!

Topazwithpearls · 30/05/2017 22:51

Thanks for the welcome back. It would have been lovely to come to the mu, but I already have a commitment that day - a rather fancy dinner reservation, which has already been postponed once. Will you still be around for the next one lib? I have lost track of your travel plans.

The ((www.esprit.co.uk/womenswear/t-shirts/100-cotton/top-with-broderie-anglaise-100-cotton-057EO1K012_001 Esprit cotton top )) came and it is a keeper, although, as it is double-layered in the front, it is a bit heavier than I expected. Still, it will go with what I wanted it for.

I love that dress dry. You will get lots of wear from it.

We are off to visit friends in Spain tomorrow for a few days. My packing is all done, but I keep wondering if I have missed something essential. Hand luggage only, so it has been a challenge.

I hope you are all having a good half term and that the weather improves.

Topazwithpearls · 30/05/2017 22:54

Forgotten how to do links: try again Esprit top

Cross post with mara, waves. Must have a catch-up when you are up this way.

libertydoddle · 30/05/2017 22:55

Darn mara! Got things mixed up... Very exciting re your bamboo bag, I love it!

I need some bag help. Have been spending way too much time worrying about what to wear for my black tie event in June. I think I am going to wear the cream Cos dress I bought the other day (the silk mix fabric with the colour makes it special enough I think) with black suede heeled courts - I wasn't sure it would work but I found an old black, bronze and gold cuff bracelet and with big gold earrings it seems to pull the look together. But I need a bag...gold or black would be too matchy I think but I can't decide what would work, possibly leopard print might or a contrasting colour??? I don't want to go much above £100 for an evening bag but would go more for something more versatile. Ideas very welcome.

libertydoddle · 30/05/2017 22:57

Nice top topaz. 8th July is my goodbye MU. Likely to be leaving UK in September...

Dreamqueen · 31/05/2017 07:30

these shorts arrived yesterday. The 28 are loose but the 27 are tight. I'm trying to lose a few lbs before hols so I suppose keeping the tighter ones is the way to go. However I have a full wardrobe of clothes that I'm trying to fit into. Does anyone know if stretch Levis give over time?

queencerulean · 31/05/2017 08:31

Morning all. Hoping for some dry weather today as we're going to a BBQ later. It's been a bit of a washout week so far.

Welcome back topaz.
mrsm they are similar to my jigsaw boots which I still plan to wear this winter but I'm not sure if I'd buy any right now. Maybe get them and try them on with things and then decide?
lib I think I missed the dress so I'll try and scroll back to find it and ponder bags.

shopafrolic · 31/05/2017 08:38

Dream the guy in the Levi store told me everything gives by about an inch. He lied. My 501 skinnies have stretched a bit with wear but on washing they tighten back up. If they are tight to the point of discomfort I wouldn't hang onto them......I wish I'd stayed with the next size up.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 31/05/2017 08:52

Plus I always think denim shorts look better hanging a little lower and looser......

DryWhiteagainW · 31/05/2017 08:53

Sorry Liberty missed your question re snakeskin block heels, I got them last year in either Dune or Office. They'd really work in your wardrobe too.
How about asnskeskin print clutch to go with your outfit?

mrsmildred · 31/05/2017 08:56

Thanks for all the IM Dicker advice. I've ordered them to try. If I already had them, I would wear them this winter no problem but as @libertydoddle said, as they have been around so long, they are not the most edgy anymore. I don't mind making a big purchase, but I try and be judicious and not be too wasteful. I just have a feeling knee high boots will be all over this A/W and there will be an amazing pair from IM or Acne I am going to want to put my money towards instead!

Everyonelovessparkles · 31/05/2017 09:33

Hi topaz, nice to see you 'back' . That's a lovely too and a great price. Hope you have a nice time in Spain.

lib your outfit idea for the 'do' sounds lovely. Leopard print might work for a bag and would tone in with the jewellery and shoes without being too matchy. Alternatively could you go for a bright colour to stand out? Something like teal or a burnt orange? Your Benetton top looked lovely. If you order online I think they have to give you a refund not credit note, even if that's not the policy in store.

Lovely dress dry.

this top finally came from m&s (10 days after ordering Hmm but unfortunately it's too big. I got a 10 as the 8 was sold out but it's too loose. Such a shame as it is really pretty. Though the styling in the photo online does it no justice. Other than that no purchases from me Sad. I've not even wore most of my new Summer purchases yet so couldn't justify buying even more.

Exciting about the bag mara. I decided against the raefeather bag for the moment. I might consider it again next year when we can go on more holidays as DC will be older and not paying for 2 at nursery

libertydoddle · 31/05/2017 09:51

Thanks for all the bag ideas. Snakeskin sounds promising...

Dry I think I'm going to get that Hobbs belt too.

queencerulean · 31/05/2017 10:36

lib would bronze work

queencerulean · 31/05/2017 10:37
