Join us to talk all things fashion and beauty. The clocks go forward next Sunday (who's bright idea was it to organise that on Mother's Day?!). Longer days and hopefully some sunshine - we're dying to get our ankles out.
All welcome :)

Where is everyone???

I'm going to buy some decent pearl earrings. Any advice or recommendations? I'm thinking £500 - £700 budget. Haven't a clue about brands or pearl quality so any info appreciated.

Dreamqueen · 27/05/2017 07:18

Welocme Flinders Nice dress but I'm too short (and round)to carry it off well.

Lib what style pearl earrings are you looking for? I have some cheapish plain stud type ones that I got years ago, can't remember where from & have never upgraded because they look ok.

shopafrolic · 27/05/2017 09:02

Morning all!
Lib no idea about pearls - my uncle bought me a pair of ENORMOUS pearl earrings back from the Far East, so not my style so they have never been worn. They seem to sell them in Tiffany's tho......
Welcome Flinders I think that a lot of stuff in COS looks rubbish on the hangers - definitely one of those places where you have to try stuff on which is why I rarely order online from them. Their sizing can be challenging too. Glad you found a perfect dress - stick around, it's fun here :)
Waiting for the big thunderstorm this morning - sky is very black. But then hopefully the weather will be fab again later. We're off to pick up the suits that DH had tailored last week, a spot of lunch and then home to potter in the garden. Friends joining us for gin late afternoon.
Have a good day Voguettes :)

Dreamqueen · 27/05/2017 09:52

Great outfit Dry Thats's totally your very polished look. Glad to read that MrDry is still alive. I'd have committed murder also.

Back from supermarket. It was sunny when I left home, then the heavens opened & car umbrella has mysteriously disappeared. Now look like a drowned rat.

My Zalando order is at the corner shop but can't be bothered going out again for it.

queencerulean · 27/05/2017 10:13

Just popping in to say hello.
Welcome flinders
lib no idea about pearls but if you start a thread there's bound to be someone that knows.

Everyonelovessparkles · 27/05/2017 12:03

Welcome flinders. It's great when you find one of those perfect dresses.

Navy outfit sounded gorgeous lib. Did your sunglasses collection arrive? Don't know much about pearls either I'm afraid.

Great outfit dry and nice you were able to dress up too.

Grey here too but humid. Not sure if the storm has passed us over? Fingers crossed!

Ive enjoyed wearing some of my more summery outfits this week, it been great being able to wear different stuff from my wintery spring uniform.

Hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend!

FlindersKeepers · 27/05/2017 12:04

Thanks everyone for the very warm welcome! I'm down near the Alps, so have 2 days of heat to come still, we might get the storms tomorrow night. The dress has gone to my alterations lady down the street as I wanted her to see if the cap sleeves were sitting correctly on me, she did a bit of pinning and for 15€ she's going to make a minor change as I have one shoulder slightly higher than the other, but otherwise was really pleased with how it sat. Took a pair of old sandals that the insole had died on to get fixed and my birthday outfit should be sorted - we're off to Dubrovnik whoo hooo.
On pearl studs, I got mine from the shopping site Vente-privée, to be honest they weren't super pricey and have needed a fair few repairs as the gold posts are far stronger than the pearls. My posts are just drilled in, so if I try and remove them with too much force, the post and back stay together and the pearl detaches. If I were buying a new pair, I'd probably get ones where the pearl sits in a claw or similar purely because I'm not terribly delicate with things.

maradesbois · 27/05/2017 16:55

Welcome Flinders, stick around, think you will fit right in here! Your trip sounds fab.

QueenC found some more sandals for you: bright pink sam edelman blatantly ignoring no espadrilles

Lib mikimito is the best for pearls, prices go up to the thousands for south sea etc but you can get cultured pearl studs for £230. For a bit more you can get something bigger or with little diamonds but personally I love the studs, never take mine out although probably should broaden my earring horizons.

DryWhiteagainW · 27/05/2017 19:16

Gap boyfriend jeans, orange Gigis, cream cami .......feels like summer Smile

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/05/2017 19:54

Hi all

Welcome Flinders, the dress sounds fab, when's your birthday?

Dream you have a good memory, I think it must have been that dress!

Lib DH got me pearl studs last Christmas. I'm sure they were only around £100 but I love them and wear them all the time. They're quite large (maybe 8-9mm) but it suits me. Unfortunately I know nothing about pearls except that I'd quite like more!

Got so hot today, we haven't had storms. Did a big garden centre trip so that's the rest of my weekend sorted. Just went for a run and came back to a nice Lebanese takeaway and glass of Sancerre. Cheers Wine

libertydoddle · 27/05/2017 21:15

Ohhh the gold south sea pearls on that site are rather lovely mara though out of budget. Thanks all for the ideas. I think I need to go look at some as I am not sure about which size to go for and I want cream toned ones.

Dreamqueen · 28/05/2017 11:16

Loving my "old lady" Hotter sandals.

OOTD navy and white Quba Breton dress, silver sandals, Osprey cross body bag and Marc Jacobs sunnies.

libertydoddle · 28/05/2017 12:03

They look good dream. Nice outfit.

Just back from a long walk in the park. In Next denim shorts, bright orange embroidered Zara T and sensible Brooks trainers.

libertydoddle · 28/05/2017 17:41

Back with my links from my Regents Street shopping the other day.

I was really impressed with Benetton - really good for autumn colours. The only downer is that they don't do refunds Shock just a credit note if you want to return.

I love this top. Great colour and shape on me - think I'll go back and get another one as it's suitable for work and casual looks.
I also bought this top. Really pleased with it.

This is the navy skirt I got in Warehouse. Perfect summer work skirt IMO, very light cotton and flattering shape.

This is the dress I got in Cos. I've tried in on a few times and couldn't get it out of my head although it's not the most practical colour.

DryWhiteagainW · 28/05/2017 22:29

Great shopping Liberty. I'm v tempted by the navy skirt for work.

Has anyone seen a skinny snake print belt anywhere?
Hopefully once mentioned a brilliant belt website and I can't remenpmber the name.

Dreamqueen · 29/05/2017 08:09

20% off everything on Asos today.

FedupNagging · 29/05/2017 09:23

Morning all

Thanks for the Asos tip off Dream, will have a look later. Nice looking comfy sandals - fitflops are my go to comfy footwear although like the Birkenstocks that MN have on the sidebar atm.

Love the Cos dress Flinders - I don't have that much from Cos but what I do have I love and wear a lot.

I sent most of my M&S order back last week but have kept this top which I'm wearing today with cropped skinny flares - I chopped up another pair of jeans which didn't get much wear. The ends frayed really well so I'm very happy with the result.

Have a great day everyone.

DryWhiteagainW · 29/05/2017 10:46

thought for the day I actually love this woman. Kudu/Quinoa/Komeoffit.......all that decluttering stuff is not for me either......

Grey and miserable here today, my BF shorts are off but Gigis still on......snakeskin today just won't leave the house in them

MarshaBrady · 29/05/2017 13:15

Great shopping Lib and Fedup. Really suits your styles.

I really need some summer stuff, but still want to spend the voucher in the Liberty sale. Could pick up something that crosses over.

Best buy so far for compliments is still the Topshop Unique silk printed midi I got a year or so ago. Such a winner, love wearing it. Esp with the pink suede M Gavriels, tempted to get more in another colour in the sales - possibly the yellow ones.

Mara ace to have you back. Love the wallpaper too, sounds gorgeous. Love all your shopping, exciting about an interview

Welcome Flinders

Ok need to book our summer holiday, have put it off too long

libertydoddle · 29/05/2017 19:05

Good blog link Dry. The idea of a capsule wardrobe does appeal to me in a lot of ways but I completely agree with her that all the capsule wardrobes you see on places like pinterest etc all look the same! And when I have tried to do it I struggle with laundry - lazy, non organised people like me need options! DH jokes that I only seem to get the memo about laundry when I run out of knickers Grin

Dream I have sent you a pm.

Ok - MU roundup...

The following have said yes: Shop, Kitty, QueenC, Dry, Justa, Bernice, Marsha, Sleep, Blingy and Mara

The following have said they can't make it: One, Dream, Everyone, Stokey

On the maybe list are: Blair and Fedup

Have I got that right??? I'll start sorting out venue this week so any changes or additions let me know.

FedupNagging · 29/05/2017 19:38

I'm a definite now Lib so book me a bottle of fizz seat.

Have just managed a quick catchup of all the links I have missed:

Mara, fab to see you back, loving the bamboo bag

Stokey I can definitely see you in the dungarees and really like the Wear Kindred sweatshirts

Lib the Cos dress you bought is such a lovely colour and a good style for you.

Phew, Dry, am glad the invite was found before you turned up uber casual! Your outfit sounded perfect.

I'm interested in the skincare links but The Ordinary seems so complicated it makes my brain hurt Grin Shop I really like the look of your new serum, in fact I like the look of the whole range; I regularly change my moisturiser and serum but stick rigidly with Clarins for everything else - I just don't seem to be able to find anything I like as much.

shopafrolic · 29/05/2017 22:32

Fedup I've had mixed experiences with their products but when I reviewed a day cream saying I was unimpressed they issued a full refund. The serum is awesome, as is the lavender night cream.
Off to North Norfolk this coming eeekend, taking my DPs for their first break since Dad's stroke. Weather looks iffy Hmm

I hope everyone is well. Sneaking in for a quick 'hello' to old friends and new (hi and welcome to flinders).Last week's events are still on my mind and, in a strange way, have drawn me back here. Being in the North West, I know people who were there and had traumatic experiences. So grim :( , but it makes me want to reaffirm my connections irl and online.
I also have been reading and agreeing with much written on the Sali Hughes thread. I am currently awaiting a delivery from Esprit of a cotton top and pyjamas. We are off on holidays for a few days on Wednesday, so tomorrow is a packing day.
Now off for a proper catch up :)

shopafrolic · 30/05/2017 14:16

Hi Topaz good to hear from you. AM desperately in search of nice cotton tops. I really want a basic shell one. If anyone spots one then do let me know.
I bought myself these slides for the summer as a smarter alternative to Birkenstocks having seen them on one of the blogs. They're quite nice but come up small so size up.
