Lipstick challenge for January

Don't worry, its not a 'thing' - you don't have to post photos on Facebook or get sponsorship for charity. Just something I'm planning to brighten up a dull January Smile

The idea is that you wear a different lipstick / lipgloss every day through January. I'm planning to stick all of mine in a big box and do a 'lucky dip' every morning. It will be a bit of fun (in a slightly pathetic way) and will be interesting to see which lipsticks I get excited about pulling out and which I'm maybe not that fond of anymore

Anyone else fancy it?

leedy I love Plumful it's one of my favourites.

I love this thread thanks for starting it OP! I'm already thinking of starting a thread for eyeshadow palettes next month as that's my real addiction. Maybe to use one palette solidly for a week and try colour combinations you haven't before? I find I end up reaching for the same palettes and the same colours time and time again. I reckon I have around 10 palettes though so it would probably take me 2.5 months to work through them!

Mawsymoo · 03/01/2017 20:59

Sorry another I meant to say I only have a few liners - I have a couple of Mac ones but I also have an NYX one which was much cheaper and is just as good.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 03/01/2017 21:30

Revlon Sorbet Lip Butter today.
Topped it up with medieval later.

TeaAddict235 · 03/01/2017 22:13

I'd like to join! Although I spend some days at home, I would like to get used to wearing red lipstick and feeling good in it. I was given a Sleek matte lipstick by my DSis for Christmas, and I feel that it will take some getting used to as it is so bright. I feel like Bongo the clown when I put it on. But without anything else on I look washed out, so therein lies the dilemma, do I go just with the lips or with the add ons that make me look complete?

Can I just say that I love make up despite not really wearing it, and I love looking at well applied make up in real life (supermarket, on the tube etc) or on you tube and just gazing at the end effect (smoky eyes, neutral, classic etc).

Bitconfused75 · 03/01/2017 22:13

Not had a scrap of make up on for days but will be joining this challenge tomorrow with pleasure.
I have about 15 lipsticks which all seem to be the same shade of pinky browny nude so will be trying to move out of my comfort zone.
For the poster who wanted recommendations for coffee stained teeth I use Glo-white for coffee and tea drinkers with a sonicare tooth brush - works well for me. And for flaky lips try Vaseline on the lips followed by a gentle brush with a toothbrush.

Judydreamsofhorses · 04/01/2017 00:04

Today was Guerlain Jenna, yesterday YSL No 1.

Mawsymoo · 04/01/2017 09:05

NYX soft matte lip cream in "Istanbul" today. Didn't think I liked this shade but it's actually quite flattering on my skin tone.

leedy · 04/01/2017 09:43

Lucky bag gave me Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Creme in Everlasting, which is a very bright pinky coral with a creamy finish. Definitely not something I'd have chosen for a winter morning and I'm not entirely convinced by it. I will wear it for the day and decide!

TeaAddict235 · 04/01/2017 14:59

Sleek semi matte pillar box red.
Touched up after lunch.
Still looking like Bongo the clown [bright lips emoji]

leedy · 04/01/2017 15:12

Hrmm. Everlasting is a bit of a meh. The colour is just a bit too "warm pink" for my colouring, though I think I could get away with it if it was matte. I'm a big fan of bright lips but I don't think this is doing me too many favours. It's all right, like, but in the spirit of this endeavour - CHUCK!

Sparkesx · 04/01/2017 17:05

Dulcimena I whiten my teeth with a kit of eBay for £8. I can PM you the link if you want, been using it for four years and my teeth are really white. They've not fallen out either!

cathyandclare · 04/01/2017 18:10

Ooh Sparkesx, will you PM me too, please?
Gym and working from home today, so wore a watermelon colour Stila lipgloss, it's been in my drawer for 3 years but actually looked quite good, I think. Bright-ish but sheer and yummy tasting.

Judydreamsofhorses · 04/01/2017 18:12

Bobbi Brown Imperial Red today. Bit slippery, I am more a matte person.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 05/01/2017 11:30

Apocolips from rimmel in pillarbox red. Lasts really well and pretty kiss proof. Not snog proof as promised but def doesn't transfer during cheek and quick lip kisses. Winner!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 05/01/2017 12:06

Lipstick queen Medieval today.

Lovely colour, lasts two and a half minutes.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 05/01/2017 12:37

That's a shame chardonnay I've always wanted a lipstick queen lipstick after first reading about the founder in just 17 in the 90's!

slug · 05/01/2017 12:40

Snap Chardonnay

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 05/01/2017 12:40

Don't let that stop you Pinkie, Medieval is very sheer, the rest of their lipsticks aren't.
Also, it's the most pretty colour.,

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 05/01/2017 12:41

Oh no!
It's gorgeous, just really sheet.

leedy · 05/01/2017 14:25

MAC Hot Tahiti today, which is GORGEOUS. Lovely muted red that makes me look all awake and glowy despite recovering from bronchitis. Kind of sad I won't be able to wear it again until after January, per my RULES. Keep!

Mawsymoo · 05/01/2017 14:29

Boring one for me today - a sheer peachy nude called "Beehive" by Seventeen. It's fine - it's easy to wear but I think I have something similar but nicer by Mac so I'm going to put this into the maybe pile for the moment.

FrustratedFrugal · 05/01/2017 14:35

I may have changed the rules of the game - this January, I have worn just one lipstick (a coppery brownish red, Max Factor Chilli). It fits my mood to a T and goes beautifully with heavy winter sweaters, and I hope to finish it this month.

I enjoy your lucky dip reports though so keep them coming! (Does anyone have Nars Dolce Vita? Your thoughts?)

leedy · 05/01/2017 14:37

"Does anyone have Nars Dolce Vita? Your thoughts?"

Me, somewhere in the depths of the makeup bag (it may appear towards the end of the month). I haven't worn it in ages but remember really liking it, it's a very subtle rosy MLBB shade on me. Just enough colour to seem "polished".

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 05/01/2017 14:39

I used to wear Nars Dolce Vita almost non stop. It's really good nude lipstick, the thing is I look better with something bright, so despite its perfectness I haven't bought a replacement once I ran out.

cathyandclare · 05/01/2017 15:04

I've also gone along with the MYBB thing today, Nars lip satin pencil in Rukigen.

I also look better in brighter/ stronger colours though, but it feels a bit weird to wear red lips and trackie bottoms!
