Lipstick challenge for January

Don't worry, its not a 'thing' - you don't have to post photos on Facebook or get sponsorship for charity. Just something I'm planning to brighten up a dull January Smile

The idea is that you wear a different lipstick / lipgloss every day through January. I'm planning to stick all of mine in a big box and do a 'lucky dip' every morning. It will be a bit of fun (in a slightly pathetic way) and will be interesting to see which lipsticks I get excited about pulling out and which I'm maybe not that fond of anymore

Anyone else fancy it?

OMG Pinkie I WANT IT. Despite the fact that I do not need any more lipsticks. Buster, your lippie is fab too.

Today's lucky dip is another Bite Beauty, this time in Fig. Also an amazing texture, also not entirely sure about the colour, it's a very soft warm medium pink. I am beginning to suspect I bought a few of their lipsticks where I loved both the texture and the colour on me and ended up buying a few more even when I was a bit dubious about the shade suiting me because they were so pretty. It's definitely better than yesterday's, so may go on the "maybe" pile unless it annoys me later.

Has anyone had their heart sink a little when they pulled out a lipstick that they've gone off a bit (or a lot)? I've had one of those so far!

Another that box of lip crayons looks amazing! Wow. I love sets like that!

leedy · 07/01/2017 15:28

Huh. Was in a shop and tried on a teal-coloured dress, the Fig lipstick suddenly looked much, much better. At least now I know what colour I must have been wearing when I bought it...

BusterGonad · 07/01/2017 16:01

I've got a thing for orange shades, they don't overly suit me but I'm not too worried, to me make up is fun and something I just enjoy regardless!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 07/01/2017 16:04

Trinny had a post about this on her set, Leedy.

Site, even

I always try to 'match' my makeup to my clothes. If I'm wearing animal print I'll wear a bright lip, if I'm wearing a lot of black I'll do a smoky eye or a gothy lip. I just adore make up and get more excited by new make up than clothes usually!

Lottapianos · 07/01/2017 16:15

Buster, same here - I usually choose my clothes first then match make up to them. It's been quite fun doing it the other way around - having to match my outfit to my lipstick!

At the moment I'm in a goth lipstick phase. I just love a deep purple.

TeaAddict235 · 07/01/2017 19:40

'What free one with Grazia?
What did I miss? '

Ha! Love it! I've been called Miss Cheapness. I seriously do choose my mags according to the freebie on offer.

Wore Nivea lip butter in Rose today. Basically it's like Vaseline lip tins but a sheer tint lip wand . Housework and tutoring do not requisite lippy did my nails though

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 07/01/2017 19:59

I thought evebody did, TeaAddict.

BusterGonad · 08/01/2017 03:08

I don't remember a free one in Grazia but I mentioned Grazia as it's one of my fav magazines! Sorry to confuse! Confused

BusterGonad · 08/01/2017 06:40

Today I'm wearing Smashbox Fireball Matte lipstick. A orange delight of a lippy!

leedy · 08/01/2017 14:31

Ooh, Fireball looks lovely.

Today's lucky dip is Nars Tolede, aka "I knew I actually had some good nudes in here somewhere". Lovely warm rosy colour, somewhere between a MLBB and a nude. It's kind of a stronger, more opaque Dolce Vita. Super flattering.

Dulcimena · 08/01/2017 14:46

Catching up...

Chantecaile Rosewood l/s - used to love this one, not sure that it suits me so well any more.

Chantecaille Tea Rose lip chic - lucky dip! - meh. Too pink. Nice on another day.

Today, Chantecaille Heirloom lip chic. Another lip chic lucky dip! Nice shade (non-goth red-ish plum/berry) but no, these just don't stand up to the Surratt lipsliques for me. A bit too glossy/thick/slippy, not as moisturising, possibly slightly irritating...

leedy · 09/01/2017 12:56

Charlotte Tilbury Walk Of Shame today. Sort of a warm brick red/berry colour, matte but still feels very moisturizing. Like! Keep!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 09/01/2017 14:38

Lush santa baby lip tint
Gorgeous bright red but says it's expired. Can't tell so going to keep using cos I live on the edge. Great staying power and recyclable tube.

slug · 09/01/2017 15:31

Soap and Glory Man Trap. Nice red but does not go with what I'm wearing today.

However, ham having my hair cut this evening and, because I tend to go excruciatingly short, I always feel the need for big earrings and more makeup for the week after a shave cut. Tomorrw, if I have time, I may be bringing out the big reds.

leedy · 10/01/2017 09:42

So for the first time this month I threw a lucky dip away without even trying it for the day - Mac Tumble Dry. It's peach. PEACH. What was I thinking?

Actual lucky dip du jour is Bite Gazpacho. Which is VERY BRIGHT. It's a blue-red, verging on fuchsia on me, and slightly sheeny. Not sure if it goes with what I'm wearing or is a bit too much for the office, but I'm giving it a go.

BusterGonad · 10/01/2017 11:06

I've just googled the Mac lippy, looks very beige! Loving the look of the Bite Gazpacho.

Lottapianos · 10/01/2017 12:08

Bite Gazpacho sounds gorgeous leedy! Where do you buy Bite from?

OP posts:
NotThrowAwayMyShot · 10/01/2017 12:11

Wow - & to think I refused to buy a Lipstick I liked last week because I already have 5!

reggaesongbird · 10/01/2017 12:18

Slight derailment but last week I mixed up all my old lipsticks to make two new lippies and one gloss...quite pleased with the indeterminate colour although the lippies look messy they work well!
I could have made them nice if I'd felt inclined to put in more effort.
