Did anyone else get a beauty advent calendar? I got a Selfridges one and am stupidly excited about opening the first door tomorrow! Anyone else?

I like the next three items in Liberty. Today's I suppose its good if you use a blusher. I just might to put it away for somebody'S present

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2016 19:41

I'd be interested to know if last years liberty was better too. Very undecided if would be again although love the box which I will reuse and am pleased with some of the items. I think I might get them all out late to reassess worth (to me ) Xmas Confused

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 22/12/2016 20:16

I'm not too bothered if i haven't been wowed by the liberty calendar. Which I haven't been.

I have felt so so treated and pampered and have loved opening the beautiful drawers in the morning - something to look forward to when you're shattered and the toddlers are screaming and in war mode at 7am.

I'm going to treasure the box and severely punish anyone who puts a grubby finger on it...

I posted a couple of pages back about the issue with the L'Occitane calendar I bought for my lovely dil. L'Occitane couldn't replace it as they are all sold out, but promised a solution that I wasn't sure they would honour. However, they were as good as their word and a few days after our conversation, shift card arrived with loaded with basically a full refund for the calendar. I have given it to dil who was overwhelmed. She's loved all the gifts from the calendar and is planning to treat herself to a couple of full size products. I really didn't expect them to send that, after all, only a couple of items were missing - apart from the upside down issue - and a couple of travel size products would have sufficed. Well done L'Occitane, one very happy customer and I'll definitely buy it again next year.

That's great news! It's always lovely when a company comes through.

I tried my Liberty blush from a couple of days ago today and I do like the shade luckily. Have recently fallen in love with blusher so it will get used.

Today's overnight moisturiser mask looks good, will probably try it tomorrow night so I can look refreshed for Christmas Day!

I agree with you Dust, that this has been a lovely, indulgent treat and I have really enjoyed it. I think I'll see how far I've got through all the bits by next October and decide then if it's worth buying next year's (think that's when it went on sale this year). And the box is bloody beautiful!

theaveragewife · 23/12/2016 13:52

whocansay agree - it would be nice to have different perfumes, these are the same as the calendar 2 and 3 years ago Hmm weird as you'd think they would understand the need to change the product. Also I am really over Kiehls stuff, moisturiser is so bland!

mowglik · 23/12/2016 14:40

averagewife I was looking at last year and this years liberty calendars and I think 7 or 8 out of the 24(25?) products are the same! Must be a let down for anyone who has bought the calendar two years running. I'm planning on rebuying M&S next year I hope they don't repeat any products - I don't see why they would surely it's not too much trouble to come up with a new selection once a year!

SmellyChristmasCandles · 24/12/2016 10:44

Just opened the final door on my L'Occitane calendar. A lovely little treat to finish off. I've loved the way that many if the gifts have created little sets - shower gel and body lotion, handcream and matching soap. Today's item makes up a three part set and I'm planning to use it tomorrow.
I've loved everything and will use it all. I've had the chance to try some things I wouldn't have bought normally but will do now. I'm very pleased with the value - cost £42, they claim a value of £80. I wouldn't argue with their valuation. I've had six of their love ely handvreams and a foot cream which are currently on offer in a gift set for £29. I will definitely buy again next year and even if it's exactly the same selection I would be very happy with it.

Strawberryfield12 · 24/12/2016 14:10

Really like Liberty perfume today although right after spraying on it remainded the smell of straw my grandmum was storing in the barn to feed the animals. Grin
As for buying or not next year I leave the options open. I would prefer to have something else instead of 2 blushers, maybe nice mascara instead of one? But I already know I will use the box next Christmas to full DH a calendar. He had beer and pork scratchins calendars. Initually he was very enthusiastic but by mid december he was definitely off both of them. there isnt much more choice for man than edible and drinkable things, so more variety will do. And I will definitely get a beauty calendar again next year.

Strawberryfield12 · 24/12/2016 14:11

Oh, my spelling has gone out of the window...

MathsFiend · 24/12/2016 15:10

Diptique candle in today's Liberty calendar. Not sure about the smell yet, will have to light it tonight to decide! But definitely a nice treat as it is something I wouldn't buy myself.

Strawberryfield12 · 24/12/2016 15:30

Oh maths dont you have the candle for tomorrow and perfume today?

BringMeTea · 24/12/2016 15:36

Spoiler!! Just kidding, I knew there was a candle somewhere, it's why I wanted it in the first place. The perfume reminds me of Diptyque's Tam Dao.

Strawberryfield12 · 24/12/2016 19:05

Argh! Was too worried about math missing a perfume, completely got derailed... sorry about that!

MathsFiend · 26/12/2016 11:08

No strawberry , I had the candle in the 24th and the perfume on the 25th.... think that must be right because the perfume had Happy Christmas on the label.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 26/12/2016 13:10

TAM DAO. I knew it smelt familiar. Had a tester of that years ago.

I had candle on xmas day. Figueres (really happy to get it as I already have baies)

Strawberryfield12 · 27/12/2016 15:09

About 4-5 years ago The White Company had a home scent Wild Fig, was my favourite and what made me a client for years. The Diptique candle reminds me so much of it!

Strawberryfield12 · 27/12/2016 15:16

Also I have started to open You Beauty calendar and so far I am really impressed. Cost the third of Liberty, I have done first five boxes and they have had the Espa ivernight therapy like Liberty, but also £15 off card for next order, the same with Aurelia cleanser which includes £10 off voucher. I guess it's assumed if you shop in Liberty you dont need any money off vouchers, but it was a nice touch. If they carry on the same until 24, I will be looking out for their calendar next year. And thank you to the MNetter who mentioned it!

Lupinlady5 · 27/12/2016 22:23

I had Liberty this year and last year. It was WAY better last year. I won't buy it again.

friendlyflicka · 27/12/2016 23:06

How was it better last year?

Lupinlady5 · 28/12/2016 08:15

Better range of products, some far better brands. No toothpaste!!

MathsFiend · 28/12/2016 10:04

Don't know if anyone is interested, but the you calendar is now half price. £35 + £5 p&p.

InfiniteSheldon · 28/12/2016 10:06

Look Fantastic was beyond amazing worth every penny I'm getting loads of compliments on my skin/complexion and makeup as well #happybunny

Housewife2010 · 29/12/2016 07:34

I much preferred this year's Liberty selection. Definitely the best of the last three years AFAIK.
