Did anyone else get a beauty advent calendar? I got a Selfridges one and am stupidly excited about opening the first door tomorrow! Anyone else?

Clear eyebrow gel is great. I've used it every day since it first came out in the late eighties. It's brilliant for keeping your eyebrows tidy.

Strawberryfield12 · 14/12/2016 21:34

I didn't know what the perfume was till late this evening and reading comments about cucumber and fresh I was almost certain I wouldn't like it. I have very reserved relationship with several perfumes, like del Pozo Halloween or Women's Issey Miyake, was almost certain it would be something similar. Phew! Not that bad.

mowglik · 15/12/2016 00:07

Perfume would be great in the M&S calendar wonder if there is one in there?

Have opened day 15 just now and was very chuffed to see what it was - been waiting for this! Will give it a whirl tomorrow Grin

Housewife2010 · 15/12/2016 03:47

There's a Shay & Blue scent in the M&S

SymphonyofShadows · 15/12/2016 07:37

The M&S one isn't the right colour for me but I can pass it on.

The No7 advent is building into a nice collection. A well as the expected serums etc. I have has some nice brushes, an eyeshadow, and a voucher for a full sized colour match blusher. Today's is an eyelash curler.

friendlyflicka · 15/12/2016 20:04

I love the lipstick - I love everything in the Liberty's calendar.

Pomegranatepompom · 15/12/2016 23:17

Not a colour I would use in either m&s or liberty - feel must be a very hard balance to try and please the majority.
For me, although I have liked to the liberty one, it's not been great value so far.

mowglik · 16/12/2016 08:07

Yay another one I've been waiting for in the M&S box. In fact this was one of the products that tempted me to buy the calendar - Phillip king elastisizer. Been wanting to try this forever

Hopefully this and the josh wood hair oil will sort my mane out this winter

SymphonyofShadows · 16/12/2016 09:22

I've still got the M&S one from last year. I keep meaning to try it but forget I've got it. Must move it to the bathroom!

MathsFiend · 17/12/2016 11:45

Really interested in the facial oil in the liberty one today, that's more Iike what I was hoping for in it.

BringMeTea · 17/12/2016 12:25

Me too MathsFiend. Happy with yesterday too.

Pomegranatepompom · 17/12/2016 16:12

Agree :) looking forward to trying the oil. Hopefully they've upped their game for the last 9 days!

MathsFiend · 17/12/2016 17:41

The facial oil apparently costs £65, so finally getting something good value!

BrillianaHarvey · 17/12/2016 21:28

Loving the facial oil too.

BringMeTea · 18/12/2016 09:55

Bit confused by today's Liberty offering. Assume it's for shaping? Never used such a product. Bit meh. Xmas Smile

friendlyflicka · 18/12/2016 17:20

Bringmetea, I think it is for shoving over your eyebrows before you go to bed and in the morning they will be sprouting in all directions and ready to shape to perfection! Being blessed with quite luxuriant eyebrows already, I find that a little bit dull. Much more dull than the toothpaste.

Strawberryfield12 · 18/12/2016 18:13

Oh, I thought I would search browbar thingy on liberty website, but it's not even there! How weird! Other retailers seem to sell night balm and day cream together in a set, so even weirder. The first thought crossing my mind was that it would be good for people with thick and bushy brows to keep them under control. I have been away on long weekend so had 4 boxes to open. :)

Housewife2010 · 18/12/2016 19:47

It's to condition your brows overnight and encourage growth. My brow lady at Blink in Harvey Nichols is always trying to get me to buy it, but it's £20 which seems a bit steep. I'm really pleased it's in the calendar and is one of the items I was most looking forward to. Still loving the licorice toothpaste too.

friendlyflicka · 18/12/2016 22:10

I love the toothpaste too, Housewife2010. I love liquorice and I am a bit of a tooth fanatic!

SymphonyofShadows · 19/12/2016 09:40

The M&S hair thing is lovely, I've had it before. Not much in the way of make-up this year though. I would have liked a reddish lipstick, there were several pink ones last year.

BringMeTea · 19/12/2016 11:11

Facewash. Eyebrow conditioner then facewash. Ha ha. I yearn for the heady days of tiny toothpaste. Thanks for the explanation Flicka.

MyDogEatsBalloons · 19/12/2016 12:13

The pink selfridges one today is a hand sanitiser. Yesterday was a lipgloss so small i couldn't even read what it was. There was a decent serum before that, but on the whole I'm disappointed still Xmas Confused

friendlyflicka · 19/12/2016 19:54

BringMetea, I find cleansers very dull as well. I like perfume and perfumed things. Love the facial oil.

MathsFiend · 19/12/2016 23:05

Hmmm, think everyone is feeling a bit disappointed in recent items, hence the lack of chat on this thread over the last few days!

raspberrysuicide · 19/12/2016 23:21

My mum bought my dd13 the M&S one. I think most of it isn't really suitable for a 13 yr old girl so I went through it and swapped some of the skincare products for older people for some nice little cosmetic bits that I bought her.
I have the Boots No7 one and have loved everything so far and now have a lovely collection of all sorts of things that should last me ages!
