Did anyone else get a beauty advent calendar? I got a Selfridges one and am stupidly excited about opening the first door tomorrow! Anyone else?

Am I the only one with the You Beauty calendar? It's really good. So far I have had a Moroccan Hair Oil, Burt's Bees lip tint, Rimmel nail polish, a glass nail file, Aurelia cleanser, True Organics hand cream, Nuxe shower gel, Oskia face mask and a small ESPA serum with a £15 off voucher. Not tried most of these before but all great stuff

mowglik · 11/12/2016 10:05

ivor you beauty calendar sounds great how much was it? I would love a bottle of Moroccan hair oil!

Today's M&S was the Emma Hardie balm - I already use it, it's fab. Have put away this one in my holiday toiletries bag as it's a dinky size. I'd be very chuffed if I'd never tried this before as it's a treat!

Whocansay · 11/12/2016 10:47

Lancôme hypnose mascara in the Selfridges one today. It seems to have a heavy Lancôme bias. I like Lancôme, but it's nice to try other stuff too!

mow it's still on sale and today it has 25% off, with delivery £57. I may have twitched Blush

Strawberryfield12 · 11/12/2016 10:53

Liberty today is great, very nice hand cream, this is sort of thing I expected when bought the calendar.

JemimaMuddledUp · 11/12/2016 11:55

The Emma Hardie Balm smells lush.

SymphonyofShadows · 11/12/2016 11:56

How do you use the balm?

No7 has a blusher brush today

kally195 · 11/12/2016 17:24

Balm instructions (off the Space NK website on the product listing):

Morning and Morning and evening, mix a few drops of warm water with a little Cleansing Balm to create a milk. Massage into the face, neck and eye area to melt away makeup, excess oil and grime. To remove, soak your Lift and Sculpt Cleansing Cloth in warm water, squeeze out the excess and gently wipe over the whole face and neck, taking extra care around the delicate eye area. Use the gently abrasive muslin side of the cloth to exfoliate trouble spots, and the smoother microfibre side for more delicate areas.

I used it this morning - smells fab and my skin feels nice.

MyNewHobbyIsGin · 11/12/2016 17:38

This is something I wanted to try so I'm happy it's been included - size is a bit stingy tho?!?!?

SymphonyofShadows · 11/12/2016 17:46

Thanks kally

IvorHughJarrs · 11/12/2016 18:18

I paid £70 I think so £57 is a bargain! Today was a pillow spray Smile

Last year I had the Clarins one which, while the stuff was lovely, it was those teeny tiny sample sizes so I felt a bit cheated. I was shocked to see they had jumped from £60 last year to £90 this year and were still the same!

Strawberryfield12 · 12/12/2016 05:33

Ivor the only thing I realise is that I might receive it for Christmas as delivery is 5-10 days. But hey, I'll give it a go!

Eve Lom cleanser in the Selfridges pink one. I've had quite a few cleanser type things so far - are they trying to tell me something?

mowglik · 12/12/2016 09:47

I really want an advent calendar to open in jan now i usually open it while having a cuppa last thing at night while threatening to use on DH. I didn't see the you beauty discount in time, will see if any others go on sale.

Blusher/powder brush in M&S today - I use powders a lot, so it will come in handy and is nice and small.

Lupinlady5 · 12/12/2016 15:09

Liberty upped their game today with Nara lip balm, but I've been pretty disappointed overall. The toothpaste plus TWO hand creams in 10 days is bad show. Hand cream is so boring as well.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 12/12/2016 17:25

Oooop our liberty calendars have diverged... got bronzer!

Pomegranatepompom · 12/12/2016 17:41

I gut an eyeshadow in a colour I won't use - not sure I'll get one next year (from liberty as. It sure good value for me ) .

JemimaMuddledUp · 12/12/2016 18:04

Powder brush today in the m&s one is a bit meh as I rarely use powder. But it is for charity.

Whocansay · 12/12/2016 18:37

Lancôme serum today in the Selfridges Calendar which I use anyway, so am very happy!

Strawberryfield12 · 12/12/2016 18:46

I got blusher from Liberty as well, I feel slightly disappointed with it so far. Being described as the ultimate calendar, I expected every product to have a bit of a wow factor, but so far it mostly has been "ah, ok, ill use it". I dont think ill get it again next year, but will try something else.

I so like your idea about January Rudy! Thank you!

SaltySeaBird · 12/12/2016 18:53

DH was meant to get me and advent calendar and specifically the M&S one. But he forgot. I'm swinging between enjoying reading what everyone is getting and feeling annoyed as this year I have no advent calendar. He went out on the 1st and couldn't find any but chocolate which he knew I wouldn't want.

Stitchosaurus · 12/12/2016 19:20

I got Nars bronzer today in Liberty...so some people got different things? Strange!
I was seriously naffed off with the toothpaste - was away over the weekend so opened a few in a row and they were all a bit meh. I do like today's bronzer though, and the toothpaste came in handy on my weekend away!

BringMeTea · 12/12/2016 19:28

Nars lip gloss getter here. How odd it has suddenly diverged. Yeah, it is a bit underwhelming tbh. Maybe previous ones were better? I do like the ritual though and a very thoughtful gift so mustn't grumble...

VanillaSugarAndChristmasSpice · 12/12/2016 19:31

Nars lip gloss. I've looked through the rate of the boxes and I'm not disappointed!
