Did anyone else get a beauty advent calendar? I got a Selfridges one and am stupidly excited about opening the first door tomorrow! Anyone else?

Like the smell of the body moisturiser in Liberty today, loved the lip stick and facial oil and quite like the perfume (definitely for summer though) - used the brow balm last night, smells nice and I guess I'll see if my brows grow more?!

I'm still enjoying it but I don't think I would buy it again next year...might do it every other year.

Stitchosaurus · 20/12/2016 09:41

Forgot to say that as dull as face wash is, it smells amazing! So I'm quite happy with that one and might hunt out more of the brand (skin laundry).

theaveragewife · 20/12/2016 10:26

Selfridges calendar - v confused, am sure I had black opium earlier in the month?

SymphonyofShadows · 20/12/2016 12:47

raspberry I've been really pleased with Boots, especially the make-up items. I've go M&S too Xmas Blush. I like it but I think I preferred last year's, as there were more make-up items including a full sized Diago Dalla Palma lipstick.

BringMeTea · 20/12/2016 13:35

Not liking the Liberty today at all. What is the smell? A distinctive flower that I can't name. mil can have it!

friendlyflicka · 20/12/2016 19:29

Isn't it a lily smell? I like it.

friendlyflicka · 20/12/2016 19:31

Stitchosaurus, good to know it smells good. That is all I am interested in, I am discovering

Strawberryfield12 · 20/12/2016 20:00

I thought it was Lilly of the valley? I like the smell. Have used brow conditioner last two nights, so far the same old brows Grin

SymphonyofShadows · 21/12/2016 12:44

Getting bored with M&S now, still no more make-up. No7 is beating it hands down. I know it's not premium stuff but its building into a great all round set.

MathsFiend · 21/12/2016 16:42

Another decent thing in liberty at last, dr sebagh serum. RRP is £69. Hopefully it is worth it!

BringMeTea · 21/12/2016 18:26

Agreed MathsFiend. Can they really pull it out of the bag in the last 5 days? Xmas Smile

Strawberryfield12 · 21/12/2016 18:53

Yup, like the Liberty today. I have sinned... there are few nice items ahead Blush

littlepinkfizz · 21/12/2016 19:25

I love the m&s one!

Whocansay · 21/12/2016 20:32

theaveragewife I thought mine must have been a dud! I also had 2 Black Opiums - but the second one is in a glittery bottle. Not massively impressed with any of the perfumes in the Selfridges calendar. All very heavy and not really my thing, tbh. A bit disappointing.

Ooh hope liberty does improve - I'm in two minds about purchasing again too..
The Nars make up was not suitable colours for me, so bit more disappointed

MathsFiend · 21/12/2016 22:00

Yeah, finger crossed BringMeTea that they have kept the best 'til last!

Housewife2010 · 22/12/2016 04:58

I love the Liberty one.

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2016 07:46

Really disappointed with liberty today.
Had high hopes but perhaps just isn't good value for me Xmas Sad
On the other hand, m and s has been really good value, great items.

Is there a swop thread?

BrillianaHarvey · 22/12/2016 09:31

Agree that Liberty today was pants.

BringMeTea · 22/12/2016 11:01

Agree Liberty really not lived up to expectations. Still, I can reuse the calendar!

Stitchosaurus · 22/12/2016 11:40

Did we all get another blusher in Liberty today? I like the look of it but haven't tried it on my face yet so not sure if it'll work with my colouring, it seems to be a very hot pink!

I know what's in day 25 and I'm happy with that one, but yeah 23 and 24 better be impressive!

1wokeuplikethis · 22/12/2016 12:52

Sorry if this has already been asked I haven't rtft, how much were your beauty calendars?

BringMeTea · 22/12/2016 13:06

Liberty 165 (i think, gift) and M n S was 35 with a 35 spend. Happily I have saved M n S for January so it might prove to be far better value than Liberty from what I have seen here. I skim past to avoid spoliers but appears folk are generally happy with it.

onemouseplace · 22/12/2016 13:59

Yes, I'd say the M&S one seems the best value.

There have been 2 or 3 really good things in the Liberty one so far, but the majority of it has only been so so (for the price). Today's blusher just felt cheap, even though apparently it's £23.

I don't think I'll do it again - does anyone know if last year's was much better?

VanillaSugarAndChristmasSpice · 22/12/2016 15:18

Bah Humbug!
