Did anyone else get a beauty advent calendar? I got a Selfridges one and am stupidly excited about opening the first door tomorrow! Anyone else?

I was looking forward to a nail polish in the M&S box but I don't like the colour at all.. doesn't suit my skin tone I was expecting a richer xmassy colour - first calendar gift I will give away. Not bad going though as I've loved all the others

Strawberryfield12 · 09/12/2016 14:13

Vanilla it's some hair treatment to use after wash, had to google it for more details myself. Sounds like a good stuff. Now that I peeked once, there is a present nag to do it again....

BeaLola · 09/12/2016 14:30

I am loving my M&S calendar - only thing I have given away is the eye cream - nail polish isn't me as have rubbish nails but I will give to friends teenager who will adore it. Live the hair oil by Josh ? - the smell is divine. I loved the liquid gold offering last year so will love yesterday's idc,

I haven't had eye cream in the M&S one yet!!

Kirriemuir · 09/12/2016 18:50

Is it the wrinkle cream? The silver tube on day 3 or 4?

JemimaMuddledUp · 09/12/2016 19:23

I love the colour of the M&S nail varnish! Definitely a keeper.

mowglik · 10/12/2016 09:16

Another nail polish in the M&S calendar! I much prefer today's colour though similar to Chanel rouge noir which suits everyone. Yesterday's was a bit too girly for me

Not sure why they decided to put them in one after the other though, would have been nice to get this just before Xmas

SymphonyofShadows · 10/12/2016 09:28

I thought it was a bit odd having two on the trot. No7's is redeemable today

JemimaMuddledUp · 10/12/2016 11:11

Strange having the two nail varnishes on consecutive days, but I like this colour too so quite happy.

MathsFiend · 10/12/2016 11:48

Agree it is weird to have 2 similar nail polishes in a row.

Also disappointed in today's liberty offering- toothpaste! Wtf?

PenguinsandPebbles · 10/12/2016 11:50

Just come in to share my extreme disappointment with toothpaste

Wtf!!!

BrillianaHarvey · 10/12/2016 12:22

Oh I was quite pleased with the toothpaste. Will be good for travel. Also it's so hard to get nicely-packaged toothpaste - like deodorant.

Strawberryfield12 · 10/12/2016 13:36

Thought it was on a weird side the toothpaste.

Lupinlady5 · 10/12/2016 14:09

Toothpaste!! Could I be any more naffed off?

Pomegranatepompom · 10/12/2016 14:17

Not impressed with the toothpaste - let's hope tomorrow makes up for it !

Whocansay · 10/12/2016 14:29

I got Lancôme serum today in the Selfridges calendar and eye crème yesterday. At least, I think it's serum. Will have to google it!

Toothpaste? That's just weird! Is it fancy toothpaste that makes your teeth white?

Strawberryfield12 · 10/12/2016 14:37

It's a Marvis toothpaste, has some good reviews on Amazon. But still weird to put in a beauty calendar.

Comedyusername · 10/12/2016 15:13

Yeah 2 similar nail varnishes surprised me too. Surely they had a discussion and thought, nah that's a rubbish idea for consecutive days??

SmellyChristmasCandles · 10/12/2016 15:33

I have the L'Occitane one and so far I've been very happy. I've had products I already use as well as some that I hadn't tried before. I love the way they build up into little 'sets'so a matching shower gel and body lotion just a couple of days apart. The sizes have been good too. The only problem I've had is that there has been a fault with the one I gave to DDIL and I've had to contact them about it. All calendars have sold out so they can't exchange, but they've offered a solution which I'm more than happy with. Won't say what just now, as I need to make sure it works out, but suffice to say that this will not deter me from buying it again next year.
P. S. If the solution works out as it should, I will update for anyone who's interested.

VanillaSugarAndChristmasSpice · 10/12/2016 16:02

Two toothpastes though.... and I'm sure it's proper organic. ...

MathsFiend · 10/12/2016 16:22

I'm really struggling to understand how the liberty calendar is worth £500 or whatever it said. The toothpaste is worth a couple of quid at best. There must be some mega expensive things in it over the next 2 weeks. Def finding the m&s one better value so far.

Deux · 10/12/2016 18:09

I'm loving the M & S one this year and so far there isn't anything I wouldn't use. I'm hoping for a good lip colour. Last year's were too pale and just-dug-up for me.

I used the liquid gold last night. I was a bit disappointed in my reflection this morning. But. That all changed when I put some foundation on. I was looking in the mirror thinking, crikey my skin's all dewy and glowy. So it's definitely had an effect for me after one application. I'm going to use it alternate nights and see what happens. Very happy.

PenguinsandPebbles · 10/12/2016 21:00

I'm really hoping the gift is better in the liberty calander tomorrow, I'm still miffed at the toothpaste, mostly because I thought ooo fancy eye cream... then it was oh it's toothpaste.

Xmas Sad
SymphonyofShadows · 10/12/2016 23:53

I've already opened mine for tomorrow as it's going to be really busy here. Pleased with M&S
