Love all the dress purchases Blingy shop Happy!

Happy your JN link is broken.

V good news about the mouse mara - phew.

My Baublebar order arrived, and I am expecting my replacement Monsoon dress soon. Out on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday so it will get its first wearing on at least one of those!

shopafrolic · 07/12/2016 21:18

So help me out ladies. What tights should I wear with the new dress? And what shoes or boots? [[http://pin.it/tOarVIp
Shoes are here]]

I thought you'd like this board on Pinterest... ]]
Try again. Does that link to my shoes?

shopafrolic · 07/12/2016 21:21

Oh I give up. I'm Shopafrolic on Pin and the board is IMW footwear (or something similar)

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 07/12/2016 21:46

Happy not sure if it's also too cheap and nasty Grin but asos had some nice wrap maxi skirts in a few colours, like this

shop Lots of options!
Dress down with opaques and Jagger boots/Pistols
Opaques and black SE Karen boots
Bare legs and your SE peep toe boots/Dune Cristina/Jigsaw red courts
You have loads of great shoes! Envy

My Baublebar tassel earrings arrived and are exactly what I wanted! They are lovely quality, and they sent me 3 free gift bags and 2 free bracelets (I did order 1 bracelet, a Xmas present). I would definitely order from them again, wish they had a UK site though!

HappyGirlNow · 07/12/2016 22:00

Ooh thank you blair didn't think about asos!

Not sure about the material of that skirt, think I'd need to see it IRL, but had a look at the rest.

Love the shape of this one, wish they had it in black

Totally love this but its OOS 😭

HappyGirlNow · 07/12/2016 22:00

Ps love your earrings!

Drywhitethanks · 07/12/2016 22:04

Great shoes Amber not too louche at all.

Happy great pleather dress.

Blingy nativities are deliberately written to make parents cry Xmas Grin

shopafrolic · 07/12/2016 22:08

So opaques if tights? No way can I do bare legs in this weather Blair Xmas Shock

LinusLovesBretons · 07/12/2016 23:42

I would go for opaques shop but the more dressy kind not the thick cotton-looking kind.

blair I love those earrings. I really don't suit statement earrings unfortunately. Studs or small drop earrings are my friend.

Lovely heels amber, especially the colour.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 08/12/2016 00:40

i would wear opaques with it Shop and agree with linus that they should be the thinner dressier type, not the thicker cotton ones. I bet your legs are going to look amazing in that dress Xmas Envy

blair those earrings are really pretty

Longislandicetee · 08/12/2016 07:13

shop tights or very very thin opaques! Preference is for tights but I get cold so I would probably go for opaques! My party is at home, so bare legged for me.

Happy love the pleather dress, no idea where I would wear it at this time of the year though!

Dry, dh was looked at me in disbelief and said "You're kidding me! Ds is only a [random animal] in the nativity play". I just gave him an evil look through the tears!Xmas Blush

Everyonelovessparkles · 08/12/2016 07:36

blingy surely by its every monther's right to cry at their child's performance?! DD is Mary in her nursery performance. Glad the dress fits.

Nice dress shop and it looks pretty adaptable / wearable. Think the tights / thin opaques sounds a good suggestion, especially with the jagger boots.

Glad you like the shirt mara.

That SP dress is nice amber, they do seem to have some nice styles and the prices are generally quite comparable with high end high st.

That was nice service from baublebar blair, little touches like that can really make a difference to your opinion of a brand.

What are you all getting your DH fit Christmas? My DH is notoriously difficult to buy for - he's not interested in clothes (I know!), not really into sport, likes tech / gadgets but seems to but what he wants himself and he won't say what he wants! All I've got so far is some chocolate liquors Xmas Grin

Got the day off today, so heading into kingston with the parents, hopefully will get some inspiration!

HappyGirlNow · 08/12/2016 09:00

blingy I am thinking either out in the evening with opaques and shoe boots or in the day with a slim fit jumper under it and tights and boots?

everyone my DH is doing up a cafe racer (old style motorbike) to take part in this (hopefully next year but project appears to be 'on hold' 🙄) - anyway I'll buy him a retro helmet to wear for it probably from here

Spotted this dress on NAP earlier - love it!

Ordered these glittery shoes last night.

AmberNectarine · 08/12/2016 09:03

I'm taking DH on a surprise trip to Milan a few days before Xmas (hoping he doesn't read MN). Also comedy tickets, DVDs/CDs and some clothes.

I don't have the crying gene, I never cry except when Joe McElderry won the X Factor at 40w pg. Heart of stone, me.

maradesbois · 08/12/2016 10:10

Hello,

MNV has made me chuckle this morning namely Happy's 'CHEAP AND NASTY' and blingy's 'random animal' GrinGrin

Completely understand school play happy tears, I even felt overcome with emotion this week walking through Burlington arcade where they had carol singers in vintage costume leaning out of the window above penhaligons serenading the shoppers, was all very Dickensian!

Have finished Christmas shopping, managed to get quite a bit for myself in the pre-sales too. In justification is all stuff I didn't want to risk selling out just to get a bit more money off.

Now that I've shed a few more kilos thought it was finally time to invest in some new trousers. At Marant got these faux leather leggings. Not on sale but the quality is fab, they really look like leather and didn't want to invest in real ones just now.

Also from Marant but main line pre-sale these wide leg wool trousers. Tried them on in store but they were too big and didn't have smaller so have just ordered online from matches - £12 for premium delivery within 90 minutes so they'd better be on time!

Finally jcrew pyjamas, I got these in green and navy plaid. Had never realised that Americans spell it 'pajama'.

Amber wow at Milano.

Everyone well done to dd getting the Mary gig! Have bought dh a dressing gown from liberty in a navy print and a black leather hermès card holder.

Stokey · 08/12/2016 11:27

There's was a funny piece on Woman'#s hour about being Mary yesterday, well worth a listen.

I'm with you Blingy - started welling up when the head was introducing Foundation Stage show & thanking them for all their hard work. DD2's song was definitely more amusing than tearful though, lots of reindeer tail waggling.

Everyone This year I'm getting Dh headphones to his specification, but last year got tickets to the Crystal Maze which was great fun. I've also bought comedy & sports tickets in the past, think it's something nice you can do together.

Love the IM trews Mara, can picture you in them. And have PJ envy - madness in US spelling

I've been lurking more than posting recently - worst thing about being SAHM is missing out on Christmas party time. We are going to have a small gathering for NYE though so need to think of an outfit.

All Saints sale seems to have started, have got a couple of good things from there in years gone by.

shopafrolic · 08/12/2016 11:40

Can't look at links as not enough coverage where I am.
But what the hell are 'more dressy opaques'? I never wear tights that aren't either nude or thick opaques. Can anyone link something for me? Flowers

Stokey · 08/12/2016 11:45

Reckon 60 dernier is your boy Shop

Not thin but not thick but others will have more expertise!

AmberNectarine · 08/12/2016 12:00

Try 40 denier.

AmberNectarine · 08/12/2016 12:37

I can't wear opaque tights any more for some reason. I never feel stylish in them.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/12/2016 12:51

I am a dedicated opaques wearer and I would take "dressy" opaques to be ones which are slightly sheerer (but all of mine are 40-60 denier anyway, hate the thickness and feel of 100) and maybe with a very slight shine, i.e. less matte/flat looking? I've got some like that on today. All of mine are from M&S, and I think my favourite pair are called velvet touch.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/12/2016 12:53

Possibly these but who knows?! M&S do so many types and I didn't buy them this year Confused

maradesbois · 08/12/2016 14:42

Shop I would recommend wolford perfectly 30s or velvet deluxe 50s if you want more opaque. I tend to wear the 30s with winter eveningwear as really can't do either nude tights or bare legs.

The IM trews arrived within an hour of ordering this morning, am so impressed with Matches. Hate paying delivery charges so doing premium felt very decadent but not as much as I hate waiting in for dhl. Have already tried them on and love them, something a bit retro about the high waist and pleats with prince of wales check. Will wear with black ankle boots and skinny polo neck tucked in.

Blair love your earrings btw!

libertydoddle · 08/12/2016 15:23

I was crying at DD's nativity play this morning - she was back line of the chorus and we barely saw her (big school and they do Y1 and Y2 together so the Y2's had all the parts and the Y1's were all 'stars' Grin). It's the Christmas story itself that makes me cry and seeing little ones trying so hard and doing their dances and making mistakes, helping each other etc. The whole thing just makes me emotional and certain Christmas songs totally set me off especially 'Oh holy night' and 'when a child is born'.

Mara great buys, love the faux leather leggings especially. Good service getting delivery in less than an hour!

I want a party dress now too even though I have nothing to attend that merits one. We're having a couple of get togethers here at the house but I'd feel ott in a dress. Other plans are all 'post meeting drinks' etc rather then formal office parties. Actually just thinking I could probably justify a nice blouse....

I have bought DH new jeans, a toolset he asked for and will buy some Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. I might book some comedy tickets too.
