Oh how interesting Stokey I thought I was warm and Autumn due to my veins being more green than blue if that makes sense but you're right beige/camel does nothing for me even if I love it, I can however wear orange and olive/khaki and most dark colours. People most frequently think I'm Italian, so...they did do a wine/burgundy shade and an "off white" shade. Don't fancy navy blue/grey/ black as I've too many coats/clothes in those colours already. Was tempted by the red/pink shade but I have to be careful with pink depends on the shade anything too pastel is not good.
Must get my colours done I think! Wink

Dreamqueen · 25/10/2016 13:36

Stokey & Soyo thats interesting about the colours. I've not had mine done & had not heard about colours until joining here. I'm Chinese/Irish with olive skin. I think I'm deep winter but could be wrong.

I love those boots Dry tells myself that I need no more boots

First yoga class in ages done this morning, I can feel myself stiffening up already. i wore a cheap & cheerful pair of leggings that I bought from Georga at Asda in an emergency & they are by far more comfortable than my Sweaty Betty ones.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 25/10/2016 16:53

Does anyone else always get in a pre-holiday panic that they need X Y and Z, then either buying it late or too late, and then coming back from the holiday thinking about what else they should have taken, regardless of whether the last minute buys were made?! Hmm Also, does anyone have any advice on what bargains I might actually be able to get in NYC, given that I'm going at the worst time in history? Grin

LKB replacement bag has arrived - can't wait to try it out later!

Hope you're having good hols Dry and Lib.

SoyYo glad your eye is getting better, it sounds so scary. I have worn lenses for 14 years and am also scrupulous, having something happen to my eyes is a real fear. Do get your colours done, if you think you'll like it then I'm sure you will :)

FedupNagging · 25/10/2016 18:34

Ouch SoYo that sounds nasty so glad you're on the road to recovery. Sounds like good colour advice from Stokey.

Nice boots Dry; waves to Polly - come back and let us know if you like/keep them.

I bought these boots yesterday - an impromptu purchase whilst looking for clothes for the dgc. I love the colour of them ignores the fact they're not leather which is what sold them to me but they're pretty comfortable too so I guess I'll wear them a lot this winter

Whilst there I tried on these pixie boots which I really liked so may go back to get them. I also saw the boots Bernice linked in the monochrome colourway and loved them too. In fact, Next had a lot of shoes/boots that caught my eye.

Blair you must be getting excited about your holiday. We went there at the same time of year 3 years ago and iirc one of the dept stores had a pre black Friday sale on with lots of Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors reduced. There is also an Outlet mall in New Jersey which you may find time to visit. I came home with lots of products from Sephora. I'm sure someone will come along with more help who visits NYC regularly.

Having spent quite some hours in soft play today ears are still ringing I am really looking forward to meeting up with some gf's later and lots of Wine. It's all v casual so will be wearing black Boden ankle zips, grey james perse jumper, FWM purple stripe jacket and Ash Jalouse boots.

dream intrigued by your Asda yoga gear, I go to Pilates and in need of a new top that stays put/ is long enough to preserve modesty while stretching and bending. Thanks for the tip!

blair is the new bag all you'd hoped for? Fingers crossed! Hope your DSIS will try the London curl whisperer lady would be interested in her opinion if she goes, I have tried Matthew in Birmingham once a few years ago but too far to travel so was delighted to find Lindsey. I reckon they're both as good.
On NY trip no tips as I've never been but I have been to a huge Boston outlet place, possibly too far to go so New Jersey sounds better. How exciting!! Yes be super careful with lenses, I will go back to wearing mine once I get the all clear but with new awareness and being even more careful (if that's possible!)

fedup love the leopard pixies I think you've wide feet right? Were they roomy enough or would they need breaking in? I can get away with std fit shoes sometimes, but prefer wide feet for guaranteed comfort. Also think the other cheapie ones you bought look good. Maybe you will become my new footwear guru as the recommendation on the M&S flats was spot on, love them and first time I wore them it was a long working day in Fr plus flight home and it was fine Smile

As you can see by all this typing eyesight is back to normal (still taking drops)
Will see about having colours done soon, I had heard of before MN, reckon it would be fun, in the meantime ordered Uniglo downy ultra light in burgundy/wine colour which i hope looks good when it arrives (£10 off offer right now)

Right...no comments on my rather conservative new Barbour coat Wink tumbleweeds say its probably not high fashion enough for you but its beautiful and I'm happy with it. I'm really into that kind of tartan look at the moment

Everyonelovessparkles · 25/10/2016 19:22

soyyo hope you're feeling better. Good advice from stokey re colours. I haven't had mine done but would be interested to know what they said am too scared to get it done in case they say no black which would mean getting rid of 2/3 of my clothes

I bet you are looking forward to your holiday blair. I've been twice but many years ago before A&F and banana republic were available here, so did head there. Despite the poor exchange rate won't brands like J crew, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren still be cheaper there?? Hope you like the new bag. That came quick!

fedup you deserve your Wine tonight! Outfit sounds lovely. I like the pixie boots, I bet they would be quite versatile. I seem to be getting a lot of wear out of my leopard flats.

Nice SE boots dry!

Everyonelovessparkles · 25/10/2016 19:28

Sorry soyyo' I missed the Barbour coat link! It looks like a nice classic style. I'm certainly not high fashion! That's what i love about this thread, we all have different tastes but can still appreciate nice things even if it isn't what we would personally buy. Hope you like the uniqlo coat when it comes.

SoyYo · 25/10/2016 19:44

Thanks Everyone Smile of course you're right!
Yes I'm also a bit concerned I'll end up discarding clothes, with the weight loss AND colour analysis I will have nothing left!Grin
Which reminds me I'm due for a checkin at Slimworld so off I go, I've been on maintenance since early June and its very hard compared to straightforward weight losing and with my eye problem I've not been very active physically the last couple of weeks my excuse. Dreading more disappointing news but best go face the music!

Dreamqueen · 25/10/2016 20:25

Hope eye gets better quick Soyo H&M do some very nice gym/pilates/yoga wear. I like your Barbour coat. It's very similar to one that i bought for my DIL.

Gosh Fedup you certainly deserve lots of wine today. Nice buys. I also love the leopard flats.

Blair no advice on NYC shopping except maybe browse through Nieman Marcus & Saks for some inspiration before you go & give yourself a chance to compare prices. My sister does my US shopping for me. My latest order form there is a fab pillow that I slept on in a hotel. Checked the label and she has tracked one down over there. Best sleeps I've ever had. You must be v excited. Smile

Everyone I know exactly what you mean about fear of getting colours done & having to ditch the black. We talked a lot about colours at last MU & i decided then to get mine doen but chickened out in case my wardrobe is 75% wrong. I might man up & go for it.

SoyYo · 25/10/2016 21:14

Cheers dream! You must really live up to your name and be a dream MIL! Flowers
I despise H&M, despite many recommendations on it every time I step into one of their stores my head hurts with the clothes jumble, the lights, the huge number of people and I reckon their clothes smell or maybe its just the shop that smells...anyway I digress I will have a look online at their sportswear range and also Asda and M&S and report back if I find a top I like. Sorry about my H&M rant I think its just me I also hated Uniglo store in Oxford St but perfectly happy to get their things online.
I've come to the conclusion I don't like wondering about shops much, unless they are spacious, well presented, etc. That's one of the things that I like about White Company chain, John Lewis, Selfridges and Liberty is another one I don't mind losing a few hours in...for the rest of the High St chainstores I couldn't care less if i never set foot on one again. Rant over.Hmm
Thank Goodness for the internet!

QueenCobalt · 25/10/2016 21:23

Will catch up in a minute but I'm Shock at watching my mums hotter than me. Most of me is like, wtf??? And a small part of me is full of admiration that these women refuse to 'grow old'

libertydoddle · 25/10/2016 21:43

I like the Barbour jacket soyyo.
Blair I have never been to NYC but I reckon I'd just make a beeline for JCrew and Madewell. Maybe Coach for a bag.

I have had another holiday run in with mossies Sad. I have 2 bites on my right leg (ankle and back of thigh) and they have both swelled really badly and are hot to touch. I took steroids today as well as antihistamines and they have calmed a bit. Also have a bite on my neck that's about size of 50p and a huge bite on my left leg. It has really pissed me off as I feel lousy, and clothes wise I am restricted to one pair of chinos and a maxi skirt.

Sorry for such a moan but so many holidays in last few years have been ruined by this and the bastard things seem to find me regardless of what repellent I use or how much I cover up.

QueenCobalt · 25/10/2016 21:48

As the programme has gone on, I'm now just hoiking up my judgey pants Grin.

Anyway, nice boots fedup.
soyo get your colours done. And I'm with you on H&M etc. I want to shop to relax, not to sort through racks and racks of stuff but I think our H&M is particularly bad. Scary stuff with the eyes.

I'm working this week, leaving dh to the childcare. Went for drinks after work which was lovely although a little pissed now

Everyonelovessparkles · 25/10/2016 21:57

lib sorry to hear about the mossies? Is it at night or in the day? If at night, have you tried one of those plug in vapourises? I used it in Thailand and it was ok. Also, spray around the door / window with the spray. But don't gas yourselves! I found anything with a very high deer content is usually ok. Not the boots own type stuff but the hardcore deet sprays you get in outdoor shops. I know how annoying it is but try not to let it spoil things and wear all your fab clothes.

I hear you on H&M. My SIL gets loads of stuff from there but whenever I go in it's like a jumble sale or they only have it in 2 sizes. I find the same with Zara.

Drywhitethanks · 25/10/2016 22:16

I've been to a whiskey (not whisky) distillery and substantial tasting this evening. Don't like whiskey really but love the craft/history of it. Was determined to like it so may have over tasted.....can't be bothered can't see to catch up thread. Love to you all. Need a cuppa urgently.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 25/10/2016 22:57

i was planning on making a beeline for H&M this week as ive seen they have a bat print jumper in and i really like it!can't say i go in there much though, it's one of those stores that nothing i like seems to fit me properly

i've had a terrible headache for the last few days, the first proper one i've had since i had my daith piercing put in and it's really knocked me flat, i'd forgotten how bad they were before

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/10/2016 09:26

My beef with H&M is the website, you can't deliver to non-residential addresses and then the returns process is really slow. But I much prefer browsing online than in their stores... they have gems but I rarely have the patience to look at everything in person.

Thanks for NYC tips. I think with shops like J crew their UK pricing is generally 1:1 with their dollar pricing, which means that I'd be saving 20% or so (less with sales tax) which I can get here with a discount code. Depressing! And I'm not a makeup/products lover so not bothered about Sephora. I guess I just need to focus on stuff which I can't get here, Madewell etc. Even DVF dresses are cheaper here at the moment.

Lib poor you! Hope it eases off for you asap :(

Dry that sounds fun... how's your head today? Grin

OOTD is Jaeger camel skirt (love it, noticed they aren't doing it this year) and matching Gap merino crew neck, pearl studs and two-tone Uterque shoes. Feel classy! :)

Have a great day everyone!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/10/2016 09:28

Oh and how could I forget... my new black LKB Jessie bag - it's love! It's only 7cm smaller than the massive Jessica one, but it feels much more compact and sturdy. Still weighs a ton, but oh well. Very happy :)

SoyYo · 26/10/2016 10:11

Morning! Glad I'm not the only one that hates H&M stores Wink
liberty poor you! I'm also allergic to mossie bites and so are both DS, little bastards always seem to seek us out Angry I find a combination of antihistamine tablets plus Anthisan cream takes away the itchiness, sweling but it does take 24 hours...hope you feel better soon and doesn't spoil your break any more than it has spread 💐

dry that's some trashy tv watching! I can sense it was fascinating and appalling at the same time post distillery tasting session. Hope your head is okay this am Grin

blair gorgeous bag! Like your OOTD, I just thought if you like Levi jeans US possibly tons cheaper? You're right though on pants xchange rate taking away the joy of bagging a bargain

SoyYo · 26/10/2016 10:14

Sorry message for dry was meant for Queen C

SoyYo · 26/10/2016 10:15

One hope your head is better this am Flowers

Everyonelovessparkles · 26/10/2016 12:24

dry sounds like you are having a good time! Hope your head isn't too sore today!

Ouch one. Hope it's not too painful and that you're doing ok.

blair your outfit sounds very chic. Glad you like the new bag.

I've got a cold and pre-menstrual bloating so feeling sorry for myself. OOTD is an unstylish but comfy harem pants and long sleeved t'shirt.

HappyGirlNow · 26/10/2016 19:44

Evening all!

These Boden boots arrived today. Absolutely love them!

Boden did agree to retrospectively apply the 15% off and free delivery they emailed me just after I ordered them, but see they're now 25% off - rahhh!

Feeling crap tonight, have had a killer headache for 2 days, suspect it's just my body getting used to being on Slimming World and it'll go. Honestly thought I'd be feeling great physically this month with doing Sober October, but between this and the bad cold/chest I had for 2 weeks I've had the worst month this year Hmm

Still, raised over £300 for Macmillan so far, think it'll be closer to £500 when I'm done. But WHY did I do it a month with FIVE WEEKENDS??

I've put an entry in my calendar for next Monday to order a case of my fave champers for next day delivery (can't trust myself with it in the house before then ha) - and I WILL be cracking open a bottle on the Tuesday night! Grin

shopafrolic · 26/10/2016 19:52

Sat in the cinema and just saw the trailer for The First Monday in May about the Met Gala. Have any of you seen it?

FedupNagging · 26/10/2016 19:54

Oh dear Lib those pesky mozzies seem to love you. I expect you've tried all the high Deet content products; I found stingose pretty good; I don't tend to get bitten much but when I do, the afterbite is really effective. stings like hell when you first put it on but works

Nice bag Blair

SoYo the pixie boots seemed fairly roomy although I always find most shoes/boots need a bit of wearing in anyway.

I made some cake earlier in preparation for the GBBO final - am sending some your way Everyone as it sounds like you need some Grin
