M&S have really lost it imo...

not that they ever really had it!

I was in there this morning, there was not one thing I would even have considered trying on!

And the kids clothes - OMG - they fell into two categories, those that would look good if you are over 70 and those that would make your dd look like a tiny prostitute!!

Very odd.

OP posts:
fizzbuzz · 05/02/2007 20:50

All the clothes in Per Una look like they are covered in mould, and have been dragged out of a moth eaten cupboard. All of them.

Also fit of clothes at M&S is decidely weird.

What I want to know is how you lot manage to do successful links. Mine always always fail. What do you lot know that I don't?!

FrayedKnot · 05/02/2007 20:59

Haven't read all the posts, but totally agree.

Pants & bras still OK though!

docket · 05/02/2007 21:02

Couldn't agree with the OP more. Was in M&S at the weekend and it was all I could do to prevent myself rolling on the floor with laughter as I passed the Per Una section. Hideous! Don't mind some of the Limited Collection stuff though.

noddyholder · 05/02/2007 21:20

Urgent hijack cd tell me about freeze 24/7 xx

noddyholder · 05/02/2007 21:24

sorry have seen the link now.Is it a temporary thing or does it have a progressive effect? My friend has had something called skinjetting absolutely amazing

RosaLuxembourg · 05/02/2007 22:34

LMAO guys. Thought it was just our benighted sticksville branch of M&S that was foisting this hideous stuff on the unsuspecting public - surely they have got better stuff in the posh branches I was thinking last week as I averted my eyes on the way towards the food hall, but no it is equal opportunities in earnest at M&S hideousness for all.

MrsJohnCusack · 05/02/2007 23:12

oh thank you for making me not miss M&S anymore

Ghosty, I went and looked at bras her yesterday - need to think about feeding bras

Then I left because I didn't understand the sizing. WHY is it different? what's 12, 14, 16 - is it dress size?

MrsJohnCusack · 05/02/2007 23:14

here

moondog · 05/02/2007 23:28

Ha ha ha
This is soo funny.
You girls are dead right.
Those M&S skirts are minging.
A disgruntled designer is taking the piss.

My friend used to design hats for M&S.Shortly before her contract expired she wrote 'M&S can go fuck themselves' inside a few in tiny writing.

TinyGang · 05/02/2007 23:35

I'm so glad this thread is here. I hadn't been for ages to M&S and managed to go the other day. I thought it must be me, everything was so horrible. Even the children's clothes were awful.

Just another delight to consider I mean it's spotty on the front and stripey at the back??! Still, a good choice for those with young babies - you'd never be able to see if the baby had been sick on you in that.

moondog · 05/02/2007 23:36

That's a bit Boden Tiny eh?

TinyGang · 05/02/2007 23:43

Could be - I don't look at Boden any more. Johnny gave up sending me catalogues ages ago.

bewilderbeast · 05/02/2007 23:51

I thought M & S had sorted itself out, going by the links poosted on here they are back where they were a couple of years ago,and I am not surprised that quite a few of those things are reduced. Who the hell would want to go out dressed in that crap it even makes the model look frumpy.

eidsvold · 06/02/2007 03:08

Mrs John Cusack - Yes that is your clothing size..... so if your cups size is c and you normally wear a size 12 then you would be a 12c.

ghosty wait till you get to Melbourne - Myer, David Jones - to list a couple. Fab for bras especially.

MrsJohnCusack · 06/02/2007 03:41

thank you eidsvold!
I just knew that if I asked someone I'd get embroiled in bra fitting etc. - at least I have some idea now for when I go back in a few weeks....

ghosty · 06/02/2007 08:12

MrsJC ... as eidsvold says, it is dress size ... but I have yet to find a comfortable bra here. I am a 34C in M&S ... always have been ... except when I was a 'heiferlike' pregnant person ...
I am a size 10 to 12 depending on style of top.
10C bras cut off my blood circulation. As do 12B, then 12C sort of fit but no matter what style I get the middle bit digs into my ribcage so it hurts by the end of the day and well, 14B just ride up my back all day so I am constantly hitching it down.

When I get to Melbourne eidsvold? When? Hrrrmmph ... well, when is the question really ... taking so bloody long to sort stuff out ... it may not be till May now ... long and boring ...

Sorry for hijack

eidsvold · 06/02/2007 08:15

ghosty do you get bonds range of clothes/underwear there - found some fab everyday bras from bonds - great.

Berlei do a barely there bra - fabulous too... not sure if you get that brand there - expensive but so comfy.

ghosty · 06/02/2007 08:20

Bonds - yes, we can get that ... I will have a look ... Farmers do Bonds ....
Berlei? Don't think so ... will check ...

I hate blimming Bendon ... grrrrrr ... I can't tell you how many bras there are knocking around in my cupboard that I have bought (out of guilt for poor shop assistant who brings me every style so I feel I have to buy something) Have worn them a couple of times then never again. I am dividing my time between two ancient M&S bras, one pre historic Lejaby bra and one newish M&S one ....

And don't talk to me about bloody Elle Macpherson. Her breastfeeding bras are great - honestly MrsJC, check 'em out although they don't have much support if you are of a more buxom shape . But her other bras are crapola ...

eidsvold · 06/02/2007 08:27

i had left over john lewis feeding bras from no1 that will be getting a work out with no3. I then bought target feeding bras - cheap and cheerful.

Bonds do a t-shirt bra that is very comfy.

I also bought a cheapish maternity t-shirt bra which is fab - exactly like a t-shirt bra without the underwire that I usually have.

I am thinking about going to get measured in a couple of weeks and treating myself to a couple of nice feeding bras just for the heck of it.

Ghosty - I never got on with bendon bras either - horrid horrid horrid.

Do you get lovable there?? they look okay - have thought about trying some of them for something different.

fizzbuzz · 06/02/2007 08:28

Cannot believe M&S maternity bra sizing. What size should I take eh M&S? I,m a 32H and hate it. But have to buy size 16-18 dresses to fit, but am not a dress size 16-18. What a pile of crap.

M&S are meant to be doing well ATM, but clothes are horrid, and childrenswear is as well

eidsvold · 06/02/2007 08:29

lovable

berlei

eidsvold · 06/02/2007 08:34

it seems you can get berlei online in NZ - but you need someone to fit it first..

this one is fab too - remembra...

here

sorry for the long hijack.

MrsJohnCusack · 06/02/2007 08:40

Elle Macpherson bra sizes didn't come anywhere NEAR me last time around
but I am sceptical that I will grow to fit my bras from last time as haven't grown at all this pregnancy, so maybe I will be lucky and have a choice this time!
thanks for all the bra advice

M&S clothes still craptastic, excuse my hijack

DizzyBint · 06/02/2007 09:21

well i work at a huge store and we are doing the best we've ever done since we opened 15 years ago. we are a massive store and stock pretty much everything. yes the small stores are shite (loss leaders if you like) and yes, the website needs new styling. HOWEVER...the business as a whole is doing incredibly well, share price is at an all time high so PLENTY OF PEOPLE are buying the stuff. and it's not just food sales either.

on any saturday you like, i can tell you the busiest shop on your high street will be M&S.

EnidLloydFoxe · 06/02/2007 10:58

dizzybint I promise you your per una sales will be down
