not that they ever really had it!

I was in there this morning, there was not one thing I would even have considered trying on!

And the kids clothes - OMG - they fell into two categories, those that would look good if you are over 70 and those that would make your dd look like a tiny prostitute!!

Very odd.

the quality has certainly gone down the pan but they still have some good pieces.

noddyholder · 05/02/2007 16:41

God I am 42 and would never wear per una it looks like it is trying to cater to the sort of older woman who is a bit whacky zany with lots of necklaces and tiedye Can you tell I hate it

louii · 05/02/2007 16:41

Dear god almighty I honestly dont think i have ever seen so many hideous unflattering outfits in one place.
The clothes, bad enough, but at least get them to fit the models wearing them.
Might have made them look slightly better.

Awful just awful.

louii · 05/02/2007 16:44

Meant to add, on another site of which i am a member, we were recently discussing that the quality of M&S undies in particular the pants had also gone down hill.
The fabric etc seemes pretty bad quality and were leaving people with saggy pants. Anyone else?

CountessDracula · 05/02/2007 16:46

ahh vvvq

join ww and get to a 16
then the world is your oyster (apart from the really skinny places)!

Oh gosh, this thread is hilarious. I have to say though that their trousers and jeans usually fit me really well. I got a pair of trousers in the sale for £12 which are really well-cut. But nowadays I hardly ever find anything great - although I am fond of their cashmillion scarves (find the name very strange though).

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/02/2007 17:10

The fatal flaw in that plan CD, is that if I do that, then none of my current clothes will fit me.

Now, if I could afford to totally restock my wardrobe, undies drawer, and coats/jackets, then, that would be all well and good.

But, I cant. So I shall be maintaining the status quo for the time being. For financial reasons you understand

NadineBaggott · 05/02/2007 17:17

funny though that everyone is saying it's gone to the dogs when its just started making profits again

pointydog · 05/02/2007 17:27

"Not least because the models either look like they need a hip replacing or they have cramp)."

Var funny, vvv!

pointydog · 05/02/2007 17:30

Ho! I've enjoyed looking at all your threads! You are right, it is all so very awful.

dueat44 · 05/02/2007 17:31

Johnnie must be weak with relief. We were comparatively kind to his clothes! (see Boden thread).

So will Mumsnet HQ ask Mr Rose on then?

pointydog · 05/02/2007 17:32

saadia, you must have shortish legs (or are a shortish person). Their trousers are always half mast on me.

pointydog · 05/02/2007 17:32

and I am not long-legged

CountessDracula · 05/02/2007 17:33

yes these things make even Boden look acceptable!

I agree CD, I was in there buying food the other day and looked at clothes, perfectly prepared to buy something but there wasn't anything I liked the look of.

I've seen some things in there I like recently. But they're not on the website. Some of the girls things were very pretty and some of the basic boys stuff is lovely too. Not a fan on the slogany stuff though.

Can't bear Boden and Next have gone mental, IMO. WTF is the grey and primary colour stripe look about? Shall we all wear legwarmers too?

quadrophenia · 05/02/2007 19:24

tis a very nice look Hunker and very practical my legs are probably a lot warmer than yours

flutterbee · 05/02/2007 19:38

OMG did someone on here actually say that they shop at TOPSHOP, if you are 12 then I can understand it but please please please if you are over 25 step away from the shop, there is nothing to see here.

I agree that the pictures you have linked to are pretty terrible (shocked that someone said that that model looked huge, she must have looked at least a size what 10!!! Fat pig!!), but on the whole M&S come up trumps for me. in both quality and style but then I love long swishy skirts.

Next are shit and hugely over rated.

CountessDracula · 05/02/2007 19:40

well flutterbee you have clearly not been in a Topshop lately
Obv there is loads of stuff that is only appropriate for a size 6 12yo but there is plenty of good stuff too! Check the website...
