This thread continues from our perfumistas thread which is now full. It is a lovely and friendly thread in which we discuss all things perfume-y, and ask for tips and share opinions and SOTDs ( Scent of The Day). Do drop in- we're not cliquey and we all smell nice.

Can I just pop in to say I have just bought myself some Molecule and I absolutely love it !

That is all Grin

LilQueenie · 26/07/2016 23:53

Sadly my favorite is no longer made. Dark orchid 1 seduction by victorias secret.

needastrongone · 27/07/2016 07:45

Very interesting stuff about the prices of perfumes, thank you.

SlinkyVagabond · 27/07/2016 08:33

Who was asking about Charlotte Tilbury? here is a chance to get a sample. (And a good laugh at the bollox used to describe it)
What I really want for summer is Untitled by Maison Martin Margiela. Never smelt anything like, it's green and chemical and I love it. I have a tiny sample bottle that I'm eking out because the full size starts at about £85.

FashionLover1 · 27/07/2016 10:52

I just love Chanel Chance and using it for the last 7-8 years.

cressetmama · 27/07/2016 13:09

We're keen on cheap thrills here! Mary Greenwell has gone through the group like flu except everyone loves it. Roger & Gallet, Yves Rocher and a few others (see Battleaxe's pp) pop up regularly, in rotation with the eye-wateringly costly...

MsRinky · 27/07/2016 13:22

And JLo Deseo! I would never had gone near this had it not been for this group, and I love it.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 27/07/2016 15:20

there's some great cheap scents. SJP Lovely is one that springs to mind, smells much more expensive than it really is and is a great summer scent. I would never usually go near celeb fragrances but i heard so many good things about it that i gave it a shot and i really really like it

dragonsarebest · 27/07/2016 16:25

Hello fragrant folk.

SoTD is Tardes by Carner - it's nice but a little sweet, would suit better in Autumn I think. Feels a little heavy for July tbh. My wonderful DP bought me a year's sample service from Bloom and it's from this month's collection. (Highly recommend this by the way, not sure how much it was but it's the Christmas present that keeps on giving).

I need to pick your brains please. I've been looking for a new summer fragrance, light, clean and definitely herbal, like a cologne but no citrus and definitely nothing heavy or sweet (woods etc). Rosemary, basil, mint, something that smells like a herb garden basically. And lasts more than an hour, ideally. Any ideas? In the heat I usually wear Acqua di Parma, Penhaligon's Castile, MH Fleurs de Sel, that sort of thing if that helps.

MsRinky · 27/07/2016 18:35

Vertine by Friedemodin would be just the ticket, herbal with mint and basil. Mine was a TK Maxx bargain though, think it usually £££.

teta · 27/07/2016 20:02

Herba Fresca by Guerlain Aqua Allegoria,
Eau d Serge Lutens,
L Eau de l'artisan,
Vertine - relentlessly minty and lasts really well, transforming to a milky fig after a while.
Wearing Ormonde Jayne Tiare .

Judydreamsofhorses · 27/07/2016 20:36

There's a cleanser in the NSPA range which is a brilliant dupe for the Clarins Pure Melt gel, really excellent.

SOTD was Heeley Sel Marin here, perfect for a day in the park.

ggirl · 27/07/2016 21:43

SlinkyVagabond thanks and blimey what a load of bollox on the description

dragonsarebest · 27/07/2016 21:57

Thanks teta and MsRinky! I'll look them up - much appreciated! In fact I think I was dithering over L'eau de l'Artisan in TK Maxx some months ago, should have jumped for it.

BrillianaHarvey · 27/07/2016 23:23

Love Heeley fragrances but I don't know Sel Marin. My SOTD has been Diptyque's Virgilio, alas discontinued - herbal citrus not at all unlike Cristalle (which I love).

EmpressofBlandings · 27/07/2016 23:59

Kermit, you might like my current passion, Timbuktu? Woody, very dry. Makes me feel coolly efficient.

Other summer loves: Tarocco by Diptyque, Philosykos ditto, Premier Figuier and PF Extreme, both Artisan Parfumeur , Eau de Campagne by Sisley...

EmpressofBlandings · 28/07/2016 00:02

Also dragons, I think most of those fit your criteria too!

BaronessBomburst · 28/07/2016 09:20

Talk to me about "noire".
There something in Magie Noire I've always hated. Green, rotting. Like a dirty pine forest.
Yesterday I sampled Bvlguri Black Jasmine on a whim, and was washing it off my wrists at the next set of loos. It's in Coco Noire as well, and lots of men's aftershaves. It once cost a very fit tasty thing a snog as I couldn't stand the smell.
What do I hate?

SOTD will be Arpege. Yesterday was Poison after I sprayed it liberally in the next shop to obliterate all traces of the Bvlguri. It was nice to feel 15 again, but it's not me. 😂

cressetmama · 28/07/2016 11:41

TK Maxx had Miller Harris Fleurs de Sel yesterday for £30/100ml....just saying, mind. [enabling]

Would be interested to try Freidemodin, but haven't they disappeared? I keep looking, just in case.

Slinky, if you yearn for MMM, you might like CdG Serpentine, which is not quite as spendy and shares most of the notes.

ggirl · 28/07/2016 22:39

I know its early to be thinking of xmas but I really want to treat myself to chanel les exclusif , haven't decided which one yet .
But..which shops sell them..none near me seem to. I live on south coast. Looks like I may have to venture further afield

BeaLola · 28/07/2016 22:51

G girl

I last bought my Chanel exclusif from the store in the Burlington arcade in London (2 -3 months ago).

Before then my brave DH bought them in a London Chanel Store - I say brave because on each occasion the staff were incredibly snooty to him .

He did complain (this was a while ago) and received a selection of the exclusifs in little sample book modes which are lovely. The gardenia and jersey are my favourites. A very nice lady who I spoke to at the Covent Garden Chanel make up store told me that House of Fraser at Bluewater sell Gardenia - no idea if this is true yet . I asked my local Chanel store if I could buy through them but sadly not.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 28/07/2016 22:52

I treated myself to Narciso after reading about it here. It is definitely nice, but I am slightly disappointed as it is so expensive for what it is. It smells very like Bill Blass Nude, I think. Nude is more appealing. And soooooo much cheaper!!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 28/07/2016 23:03

Ok....experiencing the drydown now and it is exceptional!!! Wow - breathtaking. I take it all back!!
