Lovely, friendly perfume lovers thread

MissBattleaxe · 13/07/2016 22:26

This thread continues from our perfumistas thread which is now full. It is a lovely and friendly thread in which we discuss all things perfume-y, and ask for tips and share opinions and SOTDs ( Scent of The Day). Do drop in- we're not cliquey and we all smell nice.

It's just.....lovely.....like a dark sweetish chypre-oriental crossover. Very unusual.

Badders123 · 31/10/2016 19:30

Ohhhhh
Now I want to try it
Still loving knowing 😊

VintagePerfumista · 31/10/2016 19:38

I am very impressed with all the ELs (even though they are dupes!)

YD is like a grown up timeless version of Opium or Obsession. There's the ambery dark sweetness, but with something else as well.

Badders123 · 31/10/2016 19:41

Gah!
Opium and obsession...2 of my all time favourites!!!!
Oh dear
I'm going to have to try it aren't I?

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/10/2016 19:48

I didn't get undertones of butt crack, it's just a slightly dirty vetiver!

Cockblocktopus · 01/11/2016 00:57

SOTD is Grace by Commes de Garçon.

Love the green rose and crisp floral. Great summer scent.

Badders123 · 01/11/2016 06:58

PP youth dew dupe is OOS!!!!
Argh

JasonVorheesMum · 01/11/2016 07:35

Now last night when I rttft I was not well and I thought I had hallucinated Hermann and butt crack. Halloween Grin.
Today I found my boulevard St Germain, and as it's a proper autumn day that is sotd.

Badders123 · 01/11/2016 09:49

I've ordered a 5ml decant from e bay Grin

VintagePerfumista · 01/11/2016 10:02

I think "I didn't get undertones of butt crack" should be the title of our next thread (which we will probably need before the end of the day!) Although we might attract all kinds of internet weirdos. Grin

Holy day of obligation here, and am off to MILs with snotty Chanel 5 SIL so sotd will either be 19, Miss Dior or Dioressence I think. Or maybe an exclusif so when she does he "only n5" thing, I can say "oh this little thing only costs £200 a bottle" (neglecting to tell her I have a 1ml decant Grin

Badders123 · 01/11/2016 10:09

Do it Grin

teta · 01/11/2016 10:16

I'm on a Rose kick at the moment.Today is vintage Paris edt and last night I went to sleep in Nahema PDT.The Nahema decant was a bit petrol-like at first sadly but then the beautiful Rose,Hyacinth and Lilac appeared plus the peachy aldehydes.

Slap that narrow minded perfume snob down metaphorically of course Wink a waft of Sycomore would put her in her place! Meanwhile, at the other end of the perfume spectrum, I have just ordered the Milton Lloyd version of Opium from eBay (I could wait no longer) as my PP order has only just been dispatched... still feeling grotty, but PP Karmaa is keeping me as perky as possible.

BaronessBomburst · 01/11/2016 13:33

My Coromandel was dispatched this morning! Along with Bois des Iles and Apres L'Ondee, which ViP has now put me off.
My Coco decant has run out so I'm down to my PP scratchy roller-ball now. I've just paid for a 50ml EDT 'with a few squirts out as it wasn't my thing' from a Dutch selling website. At €19,94 inc postage it's going to either be a bargain or a fake.
Anyone ever tried FM perfumes? I came across them this morning but googling has put me off.

FrustratedFrugal · 01/11/2016 17:14

VintagePerfumista ouch your SIL sounds like a piece of work... And I know it's not funny but I laughed out loud when I read you description of your trip to the post office. I used to live in 00198 and experienced lots of similar trips to the post office lost parcels, hygienic inspection fees, other fees, random great-smelling customs guys.

SOTD Shalimar Madagascar. We have been promised snow tomorrow, if that happens, it will a day of Coromandel for me!

OCSockOrphanage · 01/11/2016 19:50

About to despatch a couple of nearly unused FBs to a sample site, in exchange for credit. I am stupidly thrilled to recover some wasted cash and get more sample scents. Now I just have to decide what I might like.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 01/11/2016 23:30

vintage love the next thread name idea. Or possibly name for Scentstock. However given my job I often spends days smelling that so not all that eager for perfume.
Sotd La fumee sample. baroness love too and would have been straight on to FB list except the idea of an Arabian undertone sounds even more wonderful. So will be getting sample.
My SIL is tricky in a few ways but thankfully we can bond over perfume. Chin up, you'll smell lusher.

OCSockOrphanage · 02/11/2016 09:35

SoTD is Citizen Queen (JHaG). It's from one of their sample boxes and I like it a bit: it's season appropriate, but it has an undertone reminiscent of fabric softener that spoils it. Not a scrubber, but also neither a candidate for even a decant. One to visit a couple of times annually and throw away the empty vial without lamenting.

ReadyToSignOff · 02/11/2016 09:46

So who has been wearing their perfume the right way?!
www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3895416/Experts-say-applying-perfume-BELLY-BUTTON.html

MissBattleaxe · 02/11/2016 10:40

Yuk. I hate belly buttons.

I never spray it on wrists though because I wash my hands so often so I spray it on arms and crooks of elbows and the hot bits of my neck.

OP posts:
teta · 02/11/2016 11:05

Spraying my stomach for a few days led to incessant itching and a horrible rash.Saying that i've got fairly reactive skin though.
Baroness which site did you trade your bottles into?
Sotd is the dregs of my Vintage Nahema from a plastic decant tube.A lot of the lushness has dissipated as the sample has turned slightly. Its the first time a decant has ever turned on me.
Vintage Perfumista I just wish my sisters- in-law would wear perfume, any perfume ( or make up)!I swear they're men in drag with zero femininity.

BaronessBomburst · 02/11/2016 11:47

I spray anywhere and everywhere. Cleavage and down your back is good, especially in summer.
teta that was OCSockOrphanage not me.
And MissBattleAxe have you started the new thread yet? We're all going to be homeless!

MissBattleaxe · 02/11/2016 12:26

Happy to oblige Baroness!
