Help! Do I look like a twit?

DP has just informed me that he has arranged swanky birthday drinks for me tomorrow. Have delved into my wardrobe in a bit of a mad panic.

Are people going to look at me with raised eyebrows...? I know most people will not give a tiny rats behind.

This is a little more daring than I would usually wear... I need reassurance or alternatively an intervention before I wear this out of the house.

Will obviously wear magic pants to keep the jiggly bits in... Blush I am also aware I am slovenly and the mirror is filthy...

I like it. I probably would have worn it pre-DC, or even after DC1.

I think black strappy heels are needed though.

Sorry your thread turned into this, OP...

HappyBakeroony · 09/07/2016 20:53

I think you look ace. I agree with the above comment that if you do wear it, you need to own it and not worry about what anyone else thinks.

If it helps, I am 25 and I'm a fashion student who lives in a big city full of stylish people. No one would bat an eyelid at an outfit like this. To me it looks pretty chic and suits your figure perfectly.

Do not put a bloody vest top underneath it Hmm

I do think you have the figure for this.

I have a very different figure- curves and boobs - and have a low cut black LK Bennett number and also an erm PVCish Karen Millen number which I used to wear with a black see through lace item that reduced the extent of the flash exposure. I don't think I'd put a vest top with that but I might experiment with something mesh or black lace underneath.

Personally, I do my best to find an arrangement that allows some sort of discreet bra support but hey you do look great in that pic

Libitina · 09/07/2016 20:57

OP, I love the dress and you look amazing in it. Killer heels and a slinky, long gold body chain ( this sort of thing www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Twist-Fine-Body-Chain/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=5185129&affid=14173&channelref=product+search&mk=abc&currencyid=1&gclid=CJj_8eeU580CFQaNGwodrl0FTQ) and statement lipstick and you're good to go.

Maybe some tit tape if the dress gapes when you sit down though.

NickyWiresTeeth · 09/07/2016 20:57

I think you look classy and gorgeous!

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 09/07/2016 21:04

You look amazing! (tip tape is obvs your friend if you are having a few drinks Wink But I think you've already said that.) Wear it and take photos of your self looking gorgeous, you won't regret it. And have a very happy birthday Wine

Alibobbob · 09/07/2016 21:06

Go for it life is full of regrets. You look fantastic. I hope you enjoy yourself x

HollyBollyBooBoo · 09/07/2016 21:06

Gorgeous! Very jealous of your figure! Have fun!

SolomanDaisy · 09/07/2016 21:11

I think it looks lovely. Is it as nice sitting down?

I am a bit mystified though, as someone with large breasts who couldn't wear anything like this. What actually happens to your breasts? Are they held in place somehow so you don't accidentally flash a nipple?

PerpendicularVincent · 09/07/2016 21:13

I think you look great OP, and I don't think you posted for attention or 'likes'. I'm not sure why Usual suggested that.

The dress will look great with high heels, and earrings or an understated necklace. I am also jealous of your figure Grin

Ememem84 · 09/07/2016 21:24

Agree. No vest top. You look amazing.

I wish I could wear that. think of all the free drinks you could get

NickiFury · 09/07/2016 21:28

People who use the word "sluttish" to describe other women's clothing choices need to take a good look at themselves and the kind of people they are. I have heard that said to someone before and they were absolutely crushed by it and still remember it years later and how awful it made them feel, as do I and I wasn't even the recipient. Absolutely disgusting word.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 09/07/2016 21:36

Wear the dress!!
Definitely hair up, dangly earrings and red lips. Large clutch bag and different shoes, if you feel confident in it go for it!!

littlemouse9 · 09/07/2016 21:38

crying laughing at the suggestion of a vest top hahaha my mum says that about ANYTHING I wear! do maternity wards hand out pamphlets on it or what?

SensitiveThread · 09/07/2016 21:38

My MIL once called me a slut. She meant it in the (possibly Irish?) sense of "not having a clean enough house". Oh and I was in hospital at the time, hence her cleaning my unsatisfactory house. She was joking of course. In fairness I don't think she genuinely realised it was so rude.

I actually think it was before I was on MN otherwise it would have made an ace AIBU. Possibly with a "did my MIL mean to be so rude when she called me a slut?" title Grin

LaConnerie · 09/07/2016 21:51

You have a fab figure op so would look good in a sack, but personally I don't like the dress. I am strongly in the 'less (on show) is more' camp and don't get the trend for side boob, middle boob, under boob... etc.

Fuxake007 · 09/07/2016 21:53

I think you look fab. I've no idea why people want you to wear a vest top underneath, might as well wear a different outfit in that case

midnightmoomoo · 09/07/2016 22:33

As long as you can move/sit in it without flashing your boobs to the world I say wear it! But I think it needs different shoes, the nude ones aren't right.
I love the 'you won't wear it in a nursing home' comment!
You have a lovely figure, if you like it, wear it. I spent my skinny youth thinking I was the size of a bus, not wearing what I wanted to wear because I thought I was fat. Stupid.

LockedOutOfMN · 09/07/2016 22:39

Amazing! Wear it. Happy birthday Wine.

hippydippybaloney · 09/07/2016 22:44

I am perfectly willing to hold my hands up and admit to being jealous!

She looks great. I'm a size 10 myself but still don't have the figure for this. I'm envious. That's ok.

Some of the comments on here are NOT.
